Chapter 30 8 Scavenger

Chapter 30 8. Scavenger

"Any work?"

This was Carl's first reaction, and then his second reaction was: "Faraday, who are you?"

"Faraday?"

Oliver was very familiar with the name Carl mentioned. "I remember that this guy seems to be a middleman who hangs out in the city center, Watson District, and St. Domingo. Someone from the Sixth Street Gang that I used to be in once took his commission."

Jack lowered his voice and asked, "How's the level?"

"The bottom mercenaries are paired with the bottom middlemen."

Oliver's lowered voice basically made it clear that the middleman's level was not very good, but Carl, who was on the phone, didn't think as much as they did. After learning from Oliver that the other end of the conversation was a middleman, Carl understood his intention.

"Middleman? Are you planning to assign the job to me?"

"An old client of mine in the company recommended your number to me, saying that you are very capable. Do you want to practice?"

“An old customer of the company.”

The only corporate dog that Carl knew and was familiar with was Blanca, and Blanca thought her service was good, so she recommended someone to him.

"How is it, can you tell me more specifically?"

Of course I have to take a look at any work I have, even if I just finished a big job today.

"It's just a small practice. I'm going to the kidney removal place to save someone. You don't have to treat it as a formal commission. Before officially cooperating on a big order, I always like to first understand the other party's capabilities. Considering the difficulty, the reward will not be too high, only 6,000 Euros. Do you mind?"

Six thousand euros.
When Oliver and Jack heard this number, they both felt strangely like they were being treated as fools.

Only an idiot mercenary would believe what I said before officially cooperating on a big order. In fact, it's just empty promises. The real meaning behind this sentence is that there will be various orders that will cost you your life in the future, but I'm afraid you can't do these well, so you can first try a small order where I will swallow most of the money and there is not much profit.

But after all, he was the first middleman who came to them. Oliver and Jack had no intention of refusing Carl. Now Carl was responsible for taking on tasks and negotiating in their team. If he thought it could be done, he would do it, and if he couldn't, he wouldn't do it. They just had to listen and wait for their share of the money after the work was done.

"Are you going to save people from kidney removal?"

After Karl thought for a while, he said, "Send the details. What is the deadline?"

"I'll send you the details right away, and I'll also transfer the 1,500 yuan deposit. As for the time, it's up to you. If you're interested, you can go earlier. If you're not, it's okay to go later. The client's minimum expectation is to at least bring out a body, and the money they offer is pretty much the bottom line."

Faraday's subtext is that the client's money is only enough to save a corpse.

"I see. Send it to me first. I'll take a look and decide whether to do it or not."

"Okay, I'll hang up here first."

The middleman Faraday obviously treated this as a trivial matter and didn't take it too seriously. Within ten seconds after the call was hung up, a file was transmitted over, and Carl scanned it with the program that came with the access warehouse. After confirming that there were no common viruses on it, he opened it and began to read it.

"The middleman picked up a few desperate idiots from the street, gave them money that was not even enough to buy prosthetics, and asked them to fight the scavengers with guns. I thought this kind of thing was just talk, but I didn't expect it to really happen to me."

Jack looked at the potato chips he had just opened and had not had time to eat, sighed, and picked up the Saratoga.

"Who says it isn't?"

Oliver looked at Karl and knew that he had probably accepted the order. He sighed, stood up and started to prepare. He had to work right after eating. He might vomit it out later. "I'm still watching, and you're already preparing?"

Carl finished reading the document, looked at Oliver and Jack who were starting to prepare, and said, "Isn't today a rare day off?"

"Do you want to rest?"

Oliver checked his equipment and said, "Let's go. Let's finish it early and come back to continue eating. It will help us digest the food."

"Aren't you going to take a break again?"

"Come on, Carl, we don't know ourselves yet."

Jack gave Carby a middle finger and said, "You bastard who killed me for cutting off my kidneys, why are you still pretending to ask questions? Hurry up and leave. If you go too late, you don't know who will spend all their family property to get the commission, and you will really have to come back with a dead body."

"I didn't realize you were so kind, Jack."

Karl smiled, but also stood up from the sofa, put the full bucket of French fries on the table, and prepared to come back to eat: "We really can't let those bastards do disgusting things again."

As for scum like the scavengers, let alone having a commission, even if they don't have a commission, Carl, Oliver, and Jack will clean up after them when they see them. After all, no one wants to run into someone they know walking on the street and be kidnapped and drained of their body by them when they are not paying attention.

Several people went downstairs and squeezed into Oliver's broken car.

“Why do you dislike getting into my car again? It’s a broken car. Come back and I’ll let you walk back by yourself, believe it or not, Karl.”

"I just said something in my heart, but you heard it even though I didn't say it out loud."

"Bullshit, you're just nagging openly. Come on, if you think it's too small, go back and ask someone to modify it and see if they can stuff you into the engine."

"Okay, it's crowded here, talk less and don't move around, my face is almost touching the window."

Jack complained about Oliver and Carl's restless movements and talked about the middleman just now: "Speaking of which, this commission is 6,000 euros. How much do you think that guy named Faraday took?"

"This guy treated us like idiots. I don't think he would give us much. I suspect he swallowed at least half of it."

Oliver thought about the complaints from the Sixth Street Gang members who had taken over Faraday's commissions. "I heard that it's the nature of these clients to swallow half of their money when they meet."

"From the look of his face, I'm more than half worried. I'm afraid that if he pays 30,000 or 40,000 yuan for this order, the client's family will be emptied out, and all he'll get is the corpse of his equally emptied friend or relative."

Jack moved his body to the side and said, "I'll sit a little to the side. Carl, where is the location? Let Oliver speed over there."

"Row."

The matter is important, so I won’t show off.

Carl quickly gave the address.

The location of the scavenger is the city center.

[Downtown]: The center of Night City where many companies are concentrated. It is the safest place in the entire Night City. Those rumors of robbery and gang violence are just rumors to company personnel.
