Chapter 479 This is what a vacation should feel like!
Chapter 479 This is what a vacation should feel like!
“It’s probably an uninhabited island,” Robin said. “And it’s likely that no humans have ever settled here.”
"A deserted island!" Nami's eyes suddenly lit up as she looked at the beautiful scenery around her.
"Everyone!" she exclaimed excitedly, "I have a suggestion!"
"What suggestion?" Luffy asked curiously.
“Since this place is so beautiful, and it’s a deserted island,” Nami said, “why don’t we stay here for a few days and have a nice vacation!”
"A vacation?" Sanji's interest was piqued.
“Yes!” Nami exclaimed excitedly. “Look, there are beautiful beaches, clear waters, waterfalls, and forests! It’s practically a natural resort!”
“Sounds good,” Robin smiled.
“And,” Nami continued, “to create a sense of ritual for our vacation, I suggested we build a temporary house on the island!”
"Build a house?" Franky's eyes lit up. "That's a great idea!"
"Yes!" Nami exclaimed excitedly, "Let's build a seaside cottage right under those coconut trees! Facing the ocean, with spring flowers blooming everywhere! How romantic!"
"Nami-san's suggestion is fantastic~" Sanji immediately turned heart eyes.
"That sounds interesting!" Luffy agreed. "Let's build a house!"
"I want to try it too!" Chopper exclaimed excitedly.
"Hehehe! Building a house? This is a rare experience!" Brooke was also very interested.
"Then it's decided!" Nami declared. "We'll stay here for three days and enjoy our vacation!"
"Three days." Zoro thought for a moment. "Anyway, there's no rush, so let's just take a break."
“And we encountered the Navy last night, so we'll probably have to be more careful for a while,” Robin said. “It wouldn't be bad to rest on this deserted island.”
"Let's start building the house!" Luffy said eagerly.
“Wait a minute,” Franky said. “Building a house isn’t just about building it randomly; it requires planning.”
He took paper and pen from the boat and began to draw on the beach.
“First, we need to choose a good location,” he said. “Nami, where would you like to stay?”
Nami looked around and pointed to a coconut grove.
“That’s it,” she said. “It’s shaded by coconut trees, close to the sea, and has a good view. Plus, there’s a waterfall right next to it, so getting water is easy.”
“Great location!” Franky nodded. “Then we’ll build it there.”
"How big should the house be?" Robin asked.
“It doesn’t need to be too big,” Nami said. “Just enough for us to rest. One living room, and then a few small rooms.”
“Understood.” Franky began designing. “As per your requirements, I will design a wooden house approximately ten meters by eight meters, with a living room in the middle and two small rooms on each side. The roof will be constructed of leaves and planks to provide shade and shelter from the rain.”
“Sounds good!” Nami nodded in satisfaction.
"What materials do we need?" Sanji asked.
“It’s mainly wood,” Franky said. “We also need rope, leaves, vines, and these.”
"As for timber, there should be some on the island." Sauron looked towards the forest. "There are many trees over there."
“But we can’t just cut down trees indiscriminately,” Robin cautioned. “We must protect the environment.”
“That’s right.” Franky nodded. “We’ll just cut down some fallen, dead trees, or use some dry branches.”
“Then let’s divide the work!” Luffy said.
Franky began assigning tasks:
"Zoro, Sanji, you two are in charge of finding and transporting the timber."
"Understood." The two nodded.
"Luffy, Chopper, go and collect vines and ropes."
"Okay!" Luffy and Chopper excitedly ran into the forest.
"Robin, Nami, you two are in charge of collecting leaves, the big, thick kind, to use for the roof."
“No problem,” Robin smiled.
"Brook, help tidy up the area and clean up the selected spot."
"Roger!" Brooke saluted.
“Usopp, you and I will design and build it together.”
"Great!" Usopp exclaimed excitedly. "I'm going to unleash my creativity!"
"Then what should I do?" Borsalino asked slowly.
“Uncle Kizaru,” Franky thought for a moment, “you’ll be in charge of supervising the construction, providing us with advice and assistance.”
“The foreman,” Borsalino laughed, “Alright, I’ll do my best.”
"Let's go, everyone!" Franky shouted.
Everyone took action immediately.
Zoro and Sanji went into the forest to find suitable timber.
"How about this one?" Sanji asked, pointing to a fallen, dead tree.
“Yes, it’s fine.” Zoro inspected it. “The wood is good quality, and the thickness is just right.”
He drew his knife and cut the tree trunk to the required length in a few strokes.
“Your swordsmanship is actually quite useful,” Sanji said.
"Huh? What did you say?" Zoro stared at him.
“I told you your swordsmanship was useful,” Sanji repeated.
"It sounds like a mockery," Zoro said, displeased.
“You’re overthinking it.” Sanji lit a cigarette. “Let’s get to work quickly, don’t fall behind the others.”
“Who will lose to them?” Zoro said, hoisting a thick log onto his shoulder.
Despite their bickering, the two were highly efficient and quickly moved back a large amount of timber.
Meanwhile, Luffy and Chopper were searching for vines in the forest.
“Found it!” Chopper pointed to a thick vine.
"Great!" Luffy stretched out his arm and pulled the vines off the tree.
"Luffy, your ability is so convenient," Chopper said enviously.
"Hehe." Luffy laughed smugly.
They quickly collected a large amount of vines and plant fibers.
Robin and Nami were collecting leaves.
“The leaves of this coconut tree should be perfect,” Robin said. “They’re big, thick, and waterproof.”
“Yes,” Nami agreed, “and many leaves have already fallen naturally, so we don’t need to pick them.”
They collected the fallen coconut leaves and soon accumulated a large pile.
“This should be enough.” Nami looked at the results and nodded in satisfaction.
Brooke then cleaned up the site at the selected location.
"Hehehe~ Even though I'm just bones now, I still have a lot of strength to do the work~" he sang as he cleaned.
He cleared away the weeds and stones from the ground and flattened the ground.
Borsalino sat on a large rock, watching everyone busy at work.
“You’re really energetic,” he said slowly.
Once all the materials were gathered, Franky began to oversee the construction.
“First, we need to erect pillars!” he said. “Zorro, place these four thickest logs in these four positions.”
He made a mark on the ground.
"Understood." Zoro shouldered the timber and stood it precisely in the designated position.
“Chopper, secure the bottom with the vines,” Franky commanded.
“Okay!” Chopper immediately began tying the vines together.
"Luffy, you're in charge of putting the beam up."
"Leave it to me!" Luffy used his rubber arms to lift the beam high.
"Usopp, catch it over there and secure it."
"Roger that!" Usopp climbed up the already erected pillar and caught the crossbeam. Everyone worked together seamlessly, and the framework was quickly set up.
“Next are the walls,” Franky said. “We’ll build them using bamboo and planks.”
Zoro and Sanji went and cut some more bamboo.
“Bamboo is light, but very strong,” Franky said. “It’s perfect for making walls.”
They arranged the bamboo vertically and tied it to the beam with vines.
“Now we have the wall.” Franky nodded in satisfaction.
"Next is the roof."
Robin and Nami brought over the coconut leaves they had collected.
“The roof needs to be laid layer by layer,” Franky instructed. “From bottom to top, each layer should overlap the one below, so that the rainwater can flow down smoothly.”
“I understand!” Usopp said, “Just like fish scales!”
“That’s right!” Franky approvingly said.
The team began laying the roof. It was a delicate job that required patience.
Although Luffy wasn't good at this kind of delicate work, he still tried his best to help.
“Luffy, hand me the leaf,” Usopp said from the rooftop.
“Okay!” Luffy stretched out his arm and handed over the leaf.
After two hours of hard work, the roof was finally laid.
"Looks good!" Nami said with satisfaction.
“Next is the floor,” Franky said.
They laid some flat wooden planks on the ground to form a simple floor.
“That way we won’t be sleeping directly on the mud,” Sanji said.
“We still need to make doors and windows.” Frankie continued working.
They left spaces for doors and windows in the walls, using lightweight bamboo blinds for doors and keeping the windows open, only hanging light gauze-like plant fibers on the outside for ventilation and insect protection.
“Finally, let’s decorate it!” Nami said excitedly.
She picked many fresh flowers and hung them by the window and door.
Robin wove some decorations out of vines and hung them on the wall.
Chopper found some seashells and colorful stones and placed them on the windowsill.
Brooke placed several flat, large stones in the center of the living room to serve as stools.
After four hours of joint effort, a beautiful seaside cottage was finally completed!
"It's done!" Luffy shouted excitedly.
Everyone stood in front of the hut, looking at their work, their faces beaming with pride.
Although simple, the cottage is filled with a warm and cozy feeling. The wooden frame is sturdy and reliable, the coconut leaf roof is neat and beautiful, and the bamboo walls are refreshing and natural. Fresh flowers hang at the door, and seashells decorate the windows, making the whole place look like a cottage from a fairy tale.
"We really did it!" Nami exclaimed excitedly.
"That's so cool of us!" Franky struck his signature pose.
"Quick, go inside and check!" Luffy had already rushed into the house.
The interior space is not large, but the layout is reasonable. In the center is a spacious living room that can accommodate everyone. On each side are two small rooms, which, although without doors, are separated by bamboo curtains, providing a certain degree of privacy.
The floor was smooth and comfortable to walk on. The coconut leaves on the roof blocked out the sunlight, making the room cool. Beautiful sea views were visible through the windows.
"That's awesome!" Chopper ran around the house.
“It’s really good,” Zoro nodded. “Better than I expected.”
"This is the result of everyone working together," Robin said with a smile.
Borsalino also came in and looked around.
"Hmm, it's very well built," he said slowly. "Although simple, it's very cozy."
"Uncle Kizaru, you didn't really help much just now," Luffy said.
“Am I not supervising the construction?” Borsalino laughed. “Supervising is an important job.”
"You're just slacking off, aren't you?" Zoro retorted.
"Oh, we've been spotted~" Borsalino didn't care at all.
Everyone laughed.
"Alright!" Nami clapped her hands. "The house is finished! Now we're going to enjoy our vacation!"
"What do you do on vacation?" Luffy asked.
"Relax, of course!" Nami said. "Swimming, sunbathing, eating delicious food, sleeping in late—just enjoying yourself without having to think about anything!"
"Sounds great!" Luffy exclaimed excitedly. "I'm going swimming now!"
He rushed out of the hut and headed straight for the beach.
"Wait for me!" Chopper chased after him.
Others also gradually emerged from the cabin and began to enjoy the beautiful island.
Sanji went to the ship and brought back some ingredients and cooking utensils.
“Since we’re on vacation, lunch should be special,” he said. “I’m planning a seafood barbecue!”
"Great!" everyone cheered.
Zoro found a shady spot under a coconut tree and lay down for a nap.
Robin sat on the beach, looking at the book in his hand, occasionally glancing up at the sea.
Nami changed into a bikini, spread a towel on the beach, and prepared to sunbathe.
Frankie is studying the structure of the waterfall, considering whether some modifications can be made.
Brooke, holding her violin, played a lively tune by the sea.
Usopp was playing in the sand on the beach, building sandcastles.
Luffy and Chopper were playing happily in the sea.
Borsalino found a large rock to sit on, watching this heartwarming scene with a satisfied smile on his face.
"This kind of life is really nice," he murmured to himself.
At noon, Sanji's seafood barbecue feast was complete.
He set up a simple barbecue grill on the beach, where he grilled various fresh seafood—lobsters, scallops, fish, shrimp, as well as some vegetables and meat.
The aroma wafted through the air, attracting everyone.
"Dinner's ready!" Sanji shouted.
Everyone gathered around and sat in a circle on the beach.
"I'm starting!" Luffy couldn't wait to start eating.
The seafood is grilled until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, making it incredibly delicious.
"Delicious!" Luffy ate heartily.
"Sanji's cooking skills are truly top-notch," Robin exclaimed.
“Eating on the beach like this feels really nice,” Nami said.
“Yeah, that’s right!” Chopper exclaimed happily. “This is what a vacation should feel like!”
After lunch, everyone lazily lay on the beach.
The warm sunshine, the gentle sea breeze, and the rhythmic sound of the waves create a sense of complete relaxation.
"Ah, this feels so good," Nami said, closing her eyes to enjoy the moment.
“Yes,” Robin said contentedly, “it’s been a long time since I’ve felt this relaxed.”
“We’re always on the move, always fighting,” Zoro said. “It’s good to take a break like this once in a while.”
“That’s what I mean,” Sanji lit a cigarette, “You can’t stay tense all the time.”
Luffy lay on the beach, looking at the blue sky and white clouds.
“This island is wonderful,” he said. “It has beautiful scenery, newly built cottages, and everyone is together.”
“Yes,” Nami smiled, “this is exactly the kind of vacation feeling I’ve been looking for.”
