Chapter 478 The Primitive State of Nature
Chapter 478 The Primitive State of Nature
"What?!" Luffy's eyes widened.
"You're from the Navy?!" Zoro's hand was already on the hilt of his sword.
“Yes,” the waiter admitted, “I am a spy sent by the Navy. Upon seeing you, I immediately notified the nearby fleet.”
"You bastard!" Sanji roared.
“Wait,” Borsalino suddenly spoke, “there’s no point in dwelling on this now. The most important thing is to leave.”
“You’re right.” Robin nodded. “Let’s go!”
The Straw Hat Pirates quickly jumped off the cruise ship and returned to the Thousand Sunny.
"Frankie! Start the engine!" Nami shouted.
"Understood!" Franky rushed into the server room.
The engines roared to life, and the Thousand Sunny began to move.
But the navy warships were already very close, less than two nautical miles apart.
"They're catching up!" Usopp shouted from the lookout tower.
Indeed, three warships were closing in at full speed and began adjusting the direction of their guns.
"Prepare for battle!" Zoro drew his sword.
"Wait!" Nami exclaimed, "Let's try to shake them off first! Engaging three warships at once is too dangerous!"
"Franky! Can you go any faster?" Luffy shouted.
“That’s already at maximum power!” Franky replied.
But the warships were also fast and outnumbered. The three ships spread out in a fan shape, attempting to encircle the Thousand Sunny.
"Oh no!" Nami exclaimed, surveying the situation. "They're going to surround us!"
Just then, the cannons on the foremost warship opened fire.
"boom!"
The shell streaked across the night sky, heading straight for the Thousand Sunny.
"Danger!" Chopper screamed.
"Watch this!" Zoro slashed with his sword, splitting the cannonball in two. The cannonball exploded in mid-air, the flames illuminating the night sky.
"That was close." Nami breathed a sigh of relief.
But this was just the beginning. The three warships opened fire simultaneously, and countless shells came hurtling in.
"Three-Sword Style: Great Tornado!" Zoro unleashed his skill, creating a massive tornado that swept up most of the cannonballs and detonated them.
However, a few shells still managed to penetrate the defenses.
Thump! Thump!
The shell hit the hull of the Thousand Sunny. Although it did not cause fatal damage, the ship shook violently.
"The ship has been hit!" Franky shouted. "This can't go on!"
"I'll help!" Sanji jumped onto the ship's side and kicked a series of cannonballs at the incoming projectiles.
"Boom boom boom!"
The shell was detonated in mid-air.
But the warships continued firing, and the distance was getting closer and closer.
"Damn it!" Luffy gritted his teeth, "At this rate, we'll be sunk!"
“I’ll delay them!” Sauron said.
"No!" Nami stopped her, "It's too dangerous for you to take on three warships by yourself!"
"What should we do?" Chopper asked anxiously.
Just then, Borsalino slowly walked to the bow of the ship.
“Let me do it,” he said.
"Uncle Kizaru?" Luffy looked at him.
“Although I don’t want to be enemies with the Navy,” Borsalino said, “there’s no other way in this situation.”
He raised his hand, and golden light began to gather.
"An eight-foot mirror."
A beam of light shot into the distant night sky, then formed a path of light.
Borsalino transformed into a beam of light, instantly moving along the light path and appearing above the foremost warship.
The naval soldiers on the warship were stunned.
"What is that?!"
"It fell from the sky?!"
Borusalino slowly landed on the deck of the warship.
Colonel Carter rushed out, and when he saw who it was, he was completely stunned.
“General Poporusalino?!” he exclaimed incredulously.
“That was true before,” Borsalino said slowly. “Now just call me Borsalino.”
"What are you doing here?" Colonel Carter was completely bewildered. "And why are you protecting the Straw Hat Pirates?"
"Well," Borsalino thought for a moment, "let's just say I owe them a favor."
"A favor?" Colonel Carter was even more confused.
“In short,” Borsalino’s expression turned serious, “I can’t let you pursue that ship.”
“But…” Colonel Carter hesitated, “that’s the Straw Hat Pirates! We have orders to capture them!”
“I know,” Borsalino nodded, “but this time, let’s just pretend we didn’t see it.”
"This put Colonel Carter in a difficult position."
He certainly didn't want to be enemies with a former admiral, but he couldn't disobey military orders.
"Colonel!" a Marine suddenly shouted, "The Straw Hat Pirates' ship is speeding away!"
Indeed, taking advantage of Borsalino's delay, the Thousand Sunny had already widened the gap.
“Damn it!” Colonel Carter gritted his teeth. “Keep the pursuit!”
“I told you, we can’t chase after them.” Borsalino raised his finger.
"The Kusanagi Sword."
A golden lightsaber materialized. He swung it, and a powerful sword aura cleaved towards the sea.
"boom!"
The sea was cleaved open, creating huge waves. The seawater formed a high wall of water, blocking the way for the three warships.
"What?!"
"The waves are too high! The boat is going to capsize!"
The warship rocked violently and had to slow down to stabilize itself.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, the Wanliyangyang has already sailed quite far.
“Sorry,” Borsalino said to Colonel Carter, “Go back and say we encountered bad weather and had to abandon the pursuit.”
"Admiral Borsalino," Colonel Carter looked at him with a complicated expression, "Are you really going to fight the Navy for the sake of pirates?"
“I’m not acting as an enemy,” Borsalino said. “I’m just repaying a favor. Besides, the Navy isn’t my only righteous cause.”
After saying that, he transformed into light and disappeared into the night sky.
A few seconds later, he was back on the deck of the Thousand Sunny.
"Uncle Kizaru!" Luffy greeted him happily, "You're back!"
“Yes.” Borsalino nodded. “They won’t be able to catch up for the time being.”
"Great!" Chopper breathed a sigh of relief.
"Thank you, Uncle Kizaru," Nami said sincerely.
“You’re welcome,” Borsalino said. “We’re companions.”
"That's right!" Luffy grinned. "We're comrades!"
The Thousand Sunny continued its voyage, gradually moving away from the naval fleet.
The moonlight shimmered on the sea. Although we had just experienced a close call, we were finally safe.
"Whew," Nami said, sitting on the deck, "what a thrilling day!"
“Yes,” Robin sat down as well. “I never expected to run into a Navy spy on a cruise ship.”
“That guy is awful,” Sanji said. “We went to put on a show out of kindness, and we got betrayed.” “You can’t entirely blame him,” Zoro said. “He was just following a mission.”
“That being said, I’m still very unhappy,” Usopp said.
"Never mind," Luffy said nonchalantly, "Anyway, we escaped!"
“Thanks to Uncle Kizaru,” Chopper said.
Everyone looked at Borsalino.
"Uncle Kizaru, are you in trouble?" Nami asked worriedly. "After all, you stopped the Navy's operation."
“There will be some trouble,” Borsalino said honestly, “but it doesn’t matter. I’m no longer in the Navy anyway.”
"I'm sorry," Luffy said, bowing his head, "because of us, you've become enemies with the Navy."
“Lift your head.” Borsalino patted Luffy on the shoulder. “I chose to do this myself. And I don’t regret it.”
“Uncle Kizaru.” Luffy looked up, tears glistening in his eyes.
“You young people,” Borsalino said slowly, “always making me do things I would have done when I was young.”
"Things from when you were young?" Robin asked curiously.
“Hmm.” Borsalino gazed at the distant sea. “Back then, I also fought against my superiors to protect my comrades. Although the outcome wasn't good, I still miss that feeling.”
“Uncle Kizaru must have been very handsome when he was young,” Nami said.
“Oh, that’s quite a compliment,” Borsalino laughed.
“But seriously,” Franky said, “Uncle Kizaru’s move just now was so cool! He cleaved the sea in two with his sword; he was like a hero from a myth!”
"That's right!" Chopper exclaimed excitedly. "I was completely stunned!"
"Hehehe! No wonder you were once a naval admiral!" Brooke exclaimed.
"Stop praising me," Borsalino waved his hand. "I just don't want to see you get arrested."
"Why?" Luffy asked directly.
"Why?" Borsalino thought for a moment, "Because... I'm happy being with you guys."
This simple answer made everyone laugh.
"Me too!" Luffy grinned. "It's so much fun being with Uncle Kizaru!"
“Yes!” The others nodded in agreement.
"That's good." Borsalino smiled with satisfaction.
It was late at night and everyone went back to their rooms to rest.
Only Nami remained on deck, reading the ship's log and recording the day's events.
Borsalino walked over and leaned against the railing.
"Still not asleep?" he asked.
“Okay.” Nami nodded. “We need to record today’s voyage.”
“Thank you for your hard work,” Borsalino said.
"It's not hard work," Nami smiled. "It's my job."
After a moment of silence, Nami suddenly said, "Uncle Kizaru, do you regret traveling with us?"
"Why do you ask that?" Borsalino countered.
“Because…because by being with us, you might lose a lot,” Nami said. “Your identity, status, honor in the Navy…and the possibility of being wanted.”
“Those things,” Borsalino said slowly, “are indeed very important. But…”
He looked up at the stars in the sky.
"Some things are more important than those."
"What is it?" Nami asked.
“Freedom,” Borsalino said, “and true companions.”
Nami looked at him, her eyes filled with emotion.
“Thank you, Uncle Kizaru,” she said. “It’s our good fortune to travel with you.”
“Likewise,” Borsalino smiled.
The morning sun shines on the sea, and the Wanliyangyang (Ten Thousand Sunny) sails onward, cutting through the waves.
After last night's thrilling escape, everyone went to bed very late and is only now gradually getting up.
Luffy was the first to rush out of the room, stretching out with a big yawn.
"Good morning!" he shouted energetically.
"Good morning," Chopper said, rubbing his eyes as he came out.
"Good morning." Robin gracefully walked onto the deck.
Sanji was already busy in the kitchen and soon served a sumptuous breakfast.
“Come on, everyone, eat it while it’s hot,” he said.
Everyone sat around the dining table, enjoying breakfast.
“Last night was really thrilling,” Usopp said. “I almost got caught by the Marines.”
"Thanks to Uncle Kizaru." Chopper looked at Borsalino gratefully.
“It’s nothing,” Borsalino said slowly, sipping his coffee.
"Speaking of which, where are we now?" Luffy asked.
"Let me see." Nami took out the nautical chart and studied it.
Suddenly, she frowned.
“Strange,” she murmured.
"What's wrong?" Robin asked.
"Log pointer...something's wrong." Nami looked at the log pointer on her wrist. "The direction it's pointing should be a blank area according to the nautical chart, with no islands marked."
"No islands?" Franky asked doubtfully. "But the Log Pose doesn't lie; it must be pointing to an island."
"Perhaps the chart is incomplete?" Robin speculated. "After all, there are many unexplored areas along the Grand Line."
“Possibly,” Nami nodded. “Then let’s continue sailing in the direction of the log pointer and see what we encounter.”
"Great!" Luffy exclaimed excitedly, "We might find treasure!"
"You always say that," Usopp retorted.
About two hours later, Usopp shouted from the lookout tower:
"Land ahead!"
Everyone rushed onto the deck, looking ahead.
Sure enough, the outline of an island appeared on the horizon.
As they got closer, the island's features became clearer.
"Wow!" Nami exclaimed, her mouth agape in amazement.
This island is breathtakingly beautiful.
The island is small, but its scenery is absolutely stunning. Pristine white sand beaches surround the island, and the crystal-clear waters allow you to see schools of fish swimming below. Behind the beach grow lush tropical vegetation, with tall coconut trees swaying in the breeze. In the center of the island sits a small hill, its slopes covered in vibrant, colorful flowers.
The most striking feature is a small waterfall on the west side of the island, where clear water flows down the hillside to form a beautiful pool surrounded by green plants, resembling a natural swimming pool.
“What a beautiful island!” Robin exclaimed.
"It's like a scene from a postcard," Nami exclaimed.
"I want to go play in the water!" Luffy couldn't wait.
The Thousand Sunny approached the island and anchored in a calm bay.
Luffy was the first to jump off the ship and rush to the beach.
"What soft sand!" he exclaimed, rolling around on the beach.
The others also disembarked one after another.
“This sand is really good quality.” Franky crouched down and grabbed a handful. “It’s fine, white, and very clean.”
"The seawater is very clear," Sanji said, looking at the bay. "You can clearly see the coral on the seabed."
Chopper has already run to the beach to play in the water, and he's as happy as a child.
Brooke strolled gracefully on the beach, enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Zoro looked around: "This island doesn't seem to be inhabited?"
Indeed, looking around, there is no trace of human activity. There are no houses, no docks, no roads; everything is in its original, natural state.
