Chapter 1647 Contact (Long Chapter, Requesting Monthly Tickets)
Chapter 1647 Contact (Long Chapter, Requesting Monthly Tickets)
In the main world, Heo also possesses a similar gem.
Kayla originally had two, she gave him one, and kept one for herself.
However, the gem in the display case was far inferior to his in both color and texture.
It's far inferior to the one Kayla has.
He Ao lowered his head and looked at the description of the gemstone.
The Queen's Jewel (Restored)
[According to various folk legends and archaeological evidence, the Queen of the North always wore a rare gemstone as a hair ornament, which she carried with her at all times. Scholars speculate that this gemstone may have functioned similarly to a royal scepter, symbolizing the Queen's ruling power. (This exhibit is a reconstruction based on historical records.)]
He looked up and gazed once more at the gems in the display case.
It's clear that the museum's restoration team put in a lot of effort; the gemstone is indeed similar in texture to the one He Ao has, but its quality is far inferior, and there are subtle differences in shape and style.
"This gem is so beautiful!" Just then, the young couple who had been taking pictures on the throne walked up to the display case. The girl leaned over the case, carefully examining the gem inside. "This must be worth a lot of money, right?"
“This thing looks priceless,” the boy said, leaning on the display case and peering at the glass. “What do you think about us smashing the glass and stealing it? We could sell it and be set for life.”
"You're going to die!" The girl patted the boy's arm, glanced at the gems in the display case, and led the boy deeper into the exhibition hall.
He Ao also turned his gaze away from the display case.
He continued forward through the exhibition space.
After passing through the exhibition room displaying the Queen's personal belongings, the next room showcases the aristocratic style of the Heclairan Kingdom era.
This exhibition space is finally not entirely made up of replicas; there are also some genuine old items dug up from the ground.
These items are clearly exquisitely crafted and have an antique style, offering a glimpse into the lives of the former Chicclelan nobles.
He Ao's gaze swept over the exhibits, following the winding arrangement until he reached the deepest part of the exhibition hall.
At the far end of the exhibition hall stands a huge statue about two meters tall, its entire body shrouded in massive iron armor, with even its head covered by a helmet.
He stood there, holding a large ice sword, like a guardian from ancient times, protecting an old story.
"This statue is called 'The Nameless Ice Sword Knight'?" The young couple had already arrived. The boy lowered his head, gazing at the display board in front of the statue, and read it aloud to the girl beside him.
"It says here that this knight was probably a great nobleman in the early days of the kingdom, who once enjoyed a very high reputation in the kingdom, but with the destruction of the kingdom, he was completely forgotten and even his name was not left behind."
He withdrew his gaze and stared at the tall, imposing statue, saying with some emotion, "Even if one enjoys wealth and honor in life and holds a high position, after death one is no different from us, just an unknown person."
The girl stood beside him, her eyes fixed on him, listening quietly to his reflections.
"But that ice sword is quite nice," the boy smiled.
"I read online that museum shops seem to sell this," the girl pondered. "A replica?"
“That must be very expensive,” the boy said, looking away and towards the exit. “But I heard there are hidden exhibits in this museum. We walked around for a bit, but we didn’t see anything.”
"Really?" the girl asked curiously. "Should we ask a staff member?"
“I don’t know,” the boy shook his head. “Never mind, let’s go to the next place.”
With that, the two walked towards the exit.
He Ao then walked up to the ice sword knight and stared at the knight statue.
The statue was imposing and fierce, somewhat resembling the general of Hea Cleran that Hea had once seen in the historical world, but the style of the ice sword was somewhat similar to the one that Kayla had given him.
After a brief moment of staring, he looked away and glanced around.
The hall was empty, the bright light shining on the floor; he was now the only tourist left there.
Besides him, there was only one other staff member in a neat white uniform with a camellia emblem on his chest, standing in the corner, watching the hall.
Judging from his uniform, he must hold a fairly high position within the museum.
He Ao withdrew his gaze and glanced at the exquisite exhibits under the museum lights behind him.
Everything in the museum gives one a sense of ambiguity.
It was as if the historical world he experienced was real, yet not real.
He saw no clues that could prove his experience in the historical world.
In a sense, this 'forgetting' is indeed thorough enough.
He Ao lifted his foot and slowly walked towards the staff member.
"Hello," the staff member said politely as He Ao approached, "How can I help you?"
"Does this museum have any other exhibition rooms?" He looked at him and asked softly.
“There is also a collaborative exhibition area on the second floor,” the staff member said. “It’s a collaborative exhibition with the Federal Museum, and there may be some that you’re interested in.”
"Are there any other items related to the Queen?" He Ao asked directly.
“Sorry, no more,” the staff member politely shook his head. “Some information on the internet is not true. Our museum does not have any hidden exhibits.”
In fact, there are.
He Ao sensed the psychological fluctuations of the staff.
hum-
He looked at the staff member, opened his mouth slightly, and was about to say something when the bracelet on his wrist suddenly vibrated.
He raised his hand and looked at his bracelet. It was an unfamiliar caller ID, and the caller ID was from Willens.
Then he looked up at the staff member and said slowly, "Wait a moment, I need to take this call."
The staff member smiled and nodded.
He Ao turned around, walked to the other side of the hall, and answered the phone.
“Loren, this is Denon,” a slightly hoarse voice came from the other end of the phone almost instantly after it connected. “What happened to you? Are you and Ryanke alright?”
He listened to the voice on the phone, quickly trying to figure out what Denon was trying to say, and said slowly, "Ryank is dead."
The other end of the phone seemed to be muted, falling into a deep silence.
After a brief pause, a slightly hoarse but drawn-out voice came from the other end, "What happened? How are you feeling?"
“I was slightly injured, but I’m fine for now,” Heo said calmly, looking at the empty and desolate hall in front of him. “We encountered Sky City, and Ryan attacked me.”
There was complete silence on the other end of the phone again. After a moment, Denorn's hoarse voice rang out again, "Can you tell me what happened to you?"
He Ao spoke slowly, without adding his own speculations or mentioning what he had read from Ryan's memories. He simply suppressed his voice and recounted what had happened, omitting only the part about his final departure.
There was silence on the other end of the phone again, and this time it lasted longer than the previous two times.
Denon didn't press Heo about how he left the vicinity of Sky City, nor did he inquire in detail why Ryan attacked Heo. He remained silent, as if the phone had already been disconnected.
But his calm yet hoarse voice rang out again, "I still hope we can discuss the specifics in person. Where are you now? Is it convenient for you to come over? Do you need me to send someone to pick you up?"
“I am in Chicclelan now,” Heo said slowly.
"That far?" The person on the other end of the phone paused noticeably, then asked with a hint of surprise, "Should I send someone to pick you up?"
"You have people in Heclairan too?" Heo asked, somewhat surprised. "Is there something unusual about Heclairan as well?"
Heclairland is located at the entrance to the northeast region, but it does not belong to the 26 cities of the northeast region. Heclairland itself seems to resist being categorized together, especially after being influenced by Willens.
“The situation in Heccleland is a bit different,” Denon quickly explained. “There are no local anomalies in Heccleland, but cross-regional anomalies could occur there. So we have a small outpost in Heccleland to assist the local FBI in handling emergencies.”
"Is that so?" He Ao replied thoughtfully.
There are no local anomalies, but anomalies from other places may appear nearby.
Is it a characteristic of a boundary zone, on the edge of the spread of abnormal forces?
Or are there other reasons why the abnormal power cannot actually be fully exerted here?
He subconsciously raised his head and looked at the museum exhibition space that was faintly visible behind him.
"Where are you right now?" Denon's voice on the other end of the phone pulled Heo back to reality. "Should I send someone to pick you up?"
“No need,” He Ao coughed lightly. “If you want to verify whether I am in Hicleran, it’s actually very simple.”
“That’s not what I meant,” Denon quickly replied on the other end of the phone.
“I’m at the Queen Heclairan Museum right now,” Heo continued, as if he hadn’t heard what Denon said. “I know there’s a hidden exhibit in this museum, and I’d like to go in and take a look. Can you get the museum staff to help me out?”
“The Queen’s Museum?” Denon paused, slightly taken aback. “The Queen of the North? Loren, I think there’s some misunderstanding between us…”
"Can you handle things with the museum?" He Ao asked quickly.
“I can’t guarantee that,” Denon paused slightly when he heard Heo’s words. “Wait a moment, I’ll make a call.”
He Ao hung up the phone and quietly looked at the empty hall.
He had several missed calls on his wristband, all from Reed. He also received a new message from Reed, presumably because he couldn't get through and was asking about it.
They inquired about his condition, whether Denon had contacted him, and provided Denon's contact information.
He replied to Reed, taking a slight breath.
A considerable amount of time had passed since he called Reed.
Reed most likely contacted Denorne directly, and Denorne appears to have promised Reed that he would call How.
But will He Ao be the first person he contacts?
It's highly unlikely.
If Heo were in DeNock's position, he would definitely call his longtime friend and subordinate Ryan to get confirmation first.
Given the choice between a long-time friend and colleague and a mysterious young man whose identity and methods are unknown, both logically and emotionally, Denon would definitely choose to believe Ryan first.
They would only contact He Ao if they couldn't reach Ryan.
When he learned from Heo that Ryan was dead, his shock was undeniable.
Furthermore, he couldn't confirm whether what He Ao said was true.
Ryan's betrayal, his mistaken entry into Sky City, and his subsequent departure from Sky City would seem like a fantasy to anyone familiar with the details of Sky City.
There is another possible interpretation to this story: that Heo was a member of the Aberrant Cult and never actually encountered Sky City. He simply took the opportunity to kill Ryan, detonate the plane, and hide somewhere, using the excuse of encountering Sky City.
The likelihood of this happening is actually much higher than the likelihood of a 'D-class' escaping from the outskirts of Sky City.
From Denon's perspective, he couldn't discern the facts, nor could he determine whether Heo was good or bad.
He had previously told Reed that he was in Cichliland, and Reed wouldn't hide information, so he most likely told Denon directly.
However, Denon deliberately asked about the location again, just to test whether Heo would be inconsistent in his statements due to lying.
Denor's enthusiastic dispatch of someone to pick up Heo was actually a way to confirm whether Heo was actually in Chiclairan.
After all, given the distance between Heikelan and Xiluo City, even a plane couldn't reach them in such a short time.
Judging from the chaotic spacetime on the outside, Heo speculated that Sky City should have space-related abilities, and Denon obviously knew this as well.
If Heo is indeed in Chicclelan, then in a sense, it can also corroborate the veracity of his words to some extent.
Of course, this is not enough to completely eliminate the 'suspicious points' about He Ao.
Strictly speaking, there was nothing wrong with Denor's approach. His words and actions were very restrained. If Heo had handled it himself, he wouldn't have shown any strong emotions. Instead, he would have gone along with Denor and made his own demands.
But he can't handle it that way. If an eighteen-year-old youth remains calm in the face of such a crisis, it will only make him seem cunning and have some ulterior motive.
After all, from Loren's perspective, Ryan was sent by Denorne, so hatred would inevitably be involved.
A slightly suppressed emotional outburst and an 'impolite' retort can actually lessen Denor's suspicions to some extent.
This can also speed up Denon's work efficiency a bit.
He Ao estimated the time and slowly walked towards the staff at the exit.
The staff member shook his head as He Ao approached and said slowly, "Sir, we really don't have any hidden exhibition rooms here. It's not like you can just make a phone call and the museum can conjure up an exhibition room out of thin air."
hum-
Just then, the staff member's wristband started vibrating.
