Chapter 4285 Heroes Strike! (Seventeen)

"I think we're getting a little too excited," Gray Mist said weakly. "Putting everyone else aside, how are we going to deal with a Superman with Batman's brains?"

"...You've really stumped me." His greedy smile suddenly stiffened. He said, "To be precise, it's not Superman with Batman's brain, but Batman with a super brain and a super body."

“And he can conjure up the sun himself,” Gray Mist added. “It’s also obvious that there’s no kryptonite in this game.”

"You are the nameless fog, you figure something out."

Gray Mist grunted and then said, "It's okay, it all comes down to skills anyway. Luckily, this game isn't free-for-all combat, otherwise it would be unplayable."

"Really? But none of us are in the command room right now; we're all controlling our bodies. So who's going to release the cards?"

Gray Mist fell silent. He suddenly realized that the change in game mode might be more drastic than he had imagined. "Could it really be free-for-all combat now???"

Fortunately, after the initial chaos subsided, everyone noticed the spaceship wreckage nearby. Then, they saw the familiar blue wall, only this time the battle area was much larger, extending hundreds of meters around the wreckage.

Just then, a figure approached from another direction—it was Natasha and Bucky. Bucky's body was currently active, but Natasha was clearly one with him.

Of all the contestants on the field, apart from Schiller and Gray Mist, these two were the only ones without any barriers between them. Of course, this was not because they had been in close contact before, but because the human modifications they had undergone were of the same lineage, using the same set of techniques, so the results were naturally similar.

Natasha still complained, saying, "They should have given you more of the potion. I didn't believe you when you said you hadn't undergone any human modification, but now I see you're incredibly weak. Did they cut corners?"

“Of course not,” Bucky said. “Have you ever considered that you are the exception, just like Steve? You two are one in a million with special constitutions, perfectly absorbing the gene drugs and becoming the strongest genetically modified humans. My current state is just at the level of an ordinary person.”

“Well,” Natasha sighed, “thankfully you still have a prosthetic arm. These things are really hard to control. My shoulders feel so heavy. Don’t you ever get a stiff neck when you sleep?”

"In fact, it will happen. And when I first got my arms implanted, I even fell on the spot because I couldn't control my balance due to the different weight on the left and right sides."

"That's normal. When I had just had surgery, I often jumped up and bumped into the ceiling."

Seeing him approach, Greed reacted as if facing a formidable enemy. How could he forget that these two should be able to perfectly synchronize? Besides, he had almost driven Natasha mad before; the female agent was definitely here to settle scores.

Sure enough, Bucky smiled at him, a smile that was clearly not the Winter Soldier's; it was obviously Black Widow's.

“I think there might be some misunderstanding between us,” Greed said. He had to say that because the body they were sharing now had skills that were exactly what countered his, and it was likely that Greed would be chasing after him and beating him up later.

"I don't think there's any misunderstanding between us, Doctor. If I'm not mistaken, you were the one who brought this spaceship down, weren't you?"

"Would you believe me if I said no?" Greed paused for a moment, then continued, "I really didn't take it down."

"Yeah, you're the one who put it up there!" Selena said irritably. "We'd only searched halfway when you started the spaceship, causing me to fall to my death..."

“Don’t talk nonsense,” Greed said. “This spaceship isn’t for humans to fly.”

"Yes, that's why you can start."

At this moment, Pikachu staggered back. He spat out a mouthful of blood, twitched his ears, and said, "Peter, you really can't control my body with the same methods you use to control your own. I'm just a mouse; I don't have that kind of power."

"Sorry, I just feel like we might be under some kind of time-slowing curse? Why does everything around me seem so slow???"

"That's strange. Didn't you also lose your spider abilities for a period of time before? Didn't you feel anything unusual then?"

"No, although my body has become a bit cumbersome, my senses and thinking haven't changed much."

"Okay, how could I forget? You're a super genius, it's really a waste of your brain the size of a walnut."

"Don't say that, your brain size is already quite good. I'm probably just not used to it. Also, you're really too short, I feel like I'm talking to a bunch of boots."

"I'm sorry, there's really nothing I can do about it. You'll get used to it."

Just as they were talking, Lord Superman suddenly moved. He soared into the sky and hovered above the wreckage.

Then, a bright sun appeared in his hands. He squeezed his hands together, and the sun actually grew smaller and smaller, its light becoming more and more concentrated. And when it reached a certain critical point, a tiny black dot suddenly appeared in the very center of the light.

"Holy crap!" Selena and Pikachu exclaimed in unison.

Steve didn't scream because Stark couldn't see anything clearly. Steve could see, but he couldn't understand. He could only reiterate the scene to Stark.

“You mean, he squeezed a sun into a tiny black dot?” Stark paused for a moment before saying, “It’s just making a black hole by hand, no big deal. I’ve seen Magneto do it before, nothing special.”

"He...he ate that little black dot."

"What???!!!"

In mid-air, the tiny black dot, compressed to its limit, suddenly began absorbing all the surrounding light. Although this absorption was limited to the vicinity of Lord Superman and did not affect others, darkness quickly began to spread as Lord Superman devoured the tiny black dot.

Gray Fog cried out in alarm and scurried towards the edge with Greed. Greed, still there, exclaimed in admiration, "Truly worthy of Batman! He's grasped the essence of Superman's superpowers in an instant. Since absorbing sunlight makes one stronger, what could be more efficient than a black hole capturing light?"

"What the hell?!" Pikachu cursed as it scurried away on its short legs. "How could a carbon-based life form possibly withstand a black hole..."

“Theoretically, it is possible,” Peter said. “A black hole is actually a compact celestial body. Because of its high density, it causes various astronomical phenomena. But if a celestial body has a higher density than a black hole, it is also possible to capture a black hole.”

"Don't tell me that the density of a Kryptonian's body is greater than that of a black hole..."

“For carbon-based life forms, the strength and density of the body must be positively correlated,” Peter said. “Given the Kryptonians’ physical strength, their body density must also be very high. The reason they don’t disturb gravity is because they possess a controllable gravitational field. But even so, their density shouldn’t be high enough to capture a black hole. How did Batman manage that?”

“I suspect that Batman may have compressed Superman’s body density to a single point through some molecular-level modifications,” Stark said. “If you compare Superman’s body to an entire galaxy, then Batman is compressing all the celestial bodies in that galaxy into the size of a glass marble. This would result in an incredibly high density. And when the density of his body is greater than that of a black hole, and he has a constant gravitational field, then he could capture and devour a black hole.”

“But I don’t understand the point of him doing that,” Steve said. “Is turning himself into a giant black hole just to look cool?”

“Of course not, it’s to capture photons more efficiently,” Stark said. “Superman gets stronger by sunbathing, but nobody knows exactly which part of sunlight enhances him. If we knew, we could efficiently produce that part, such as ultraviolet rays or heat, to increase Superman’s enhancement.”

"However, Batman chose not to analyze. He wanted it all. As long as he could capture photons like a black hole, he could utilize every part of the light emitted by a star without wasting a single drop."

"The only problem is whether Superman's body can withstand such enhancements. Won't this cause any problems?"

“I doubt anyone in the world knows Superman better than Batman,” Steve said. “Besides, he’s now inside Superman’s body, so he must have checked his physical condition and thought he could handle it before doing this.”

“It’s a pity you can’t photosynthesize,” Stark said regretfully. “Otherwise, it would be much easier for us to create black holes. Don’t be fooled by how he seemed to create a black hole with a snap of his fingers; that’s because that sun wasn’t very massive. He can’t squeeze a superstar, but your son can. He can compress an entire galaxy into a glass marble using dark matter. If you could eat it, even Superman might not be able to beat you.”

“I think I’d better not,” Steve said. “Even though I’ve become the navigator of Starfleet, I still find the universe terrifying. Whenever we’re sailing in the dark, I get a strange sense of panic. Maybe I’m just not cut out to be an interstellar citizen.”

“Without studying math and science, life is full of magic,” Stark scoffed. “You’re afraid because you’re illiterate. Once you understand the structure of the universe, everything will just look like a bunch of data.”

Just then, the situation changed again. As all the photons within range were captured and darkness continued to spread, a gray mist gradually permeated the air. Through the senses of the gray mist, Greed saw a white cloak in the center of the dense darkness.

Lord Superman's bodysuit was mostly black, with only the emblem on his chest and the cape on his shoulders being white. In the absolute darkness, his entire body seemed to disappear, with only the cape standing silently there.

“I advise you to stop now,” Gray Mist said. “You’re not going to be able to carry this stuff into the real world, and the administrators will just have a bad word to it. I know you just want to try it out, but if you mess up the game, all your previous efforts will be for nothing.”

“I guess he probably can’t hear you,” Greed said. “It’s going to be a rather complicated and delicate process, and they’ll both be completely focused on controlling their bodies.”

“Then you can’t blame me for knocking on the door,” Gray Mist said. “This isn’t spiritual pollution; I’m just reminding them.”

As Greed stated, Lord Superman and Lord Batman are now unable to hear the outside world. This is because they are both immersed in the infinite stillness caused by the spacetime distortion brought about by the singularity. But even here, the superbrain's thoughts can still function, albeit very slowly.

“This is amazing,” Lord Superman said. “I never thought I could do this. I’ve never seen any Kryptonian do this either. This is definitely not something you can learn through higher education.”

Have you ever heard of cosmology?

"what is that?"

“A science that’s been circulating widely in Batman lately,” Lord Batman paused before continuing, “is a method of editing the universe directly from the level of rules and procedures, based on reality but transcending it.”

Does such a thing really exist?

“Nobody knows,” Lord Batman said. “We’re all on this path, but we don’t know if it really leads to the Creator. But we’ll only know once we’ve walked it.”

Lord Superman looked at him. Those eyes, more weathered and mature than those of the other Supermen, looked at Lord Batman across what seemed like a close yet actually distant space-time with a calmness and gentleness rarely seen since he became Lord.

"Did my body help you take a step forward on this path?"

“I think so,” Lord Batman said calmly. “Humanity’s fear of the universe doesn’t always come from the unknown, but also from the inability to change it. Humanity’s fragile bodies prevent us from ever truly confronting the data we collect. No human can ever glimpse the interior of a black hole. But you are different. These things are not the end for you, and never will be.”

"You mean we can keep going down this path until you become the creator?"

"Until we become creators together."
