Chapter 4286 Heroes Strike! (18)

"What are they whispering about?" Gray Mist asked, looking at the only small black dot in the vast white mental world.

"What's wrong with those two?" Greed said. "I've never seen a mental world like this before. Where are they?"

"They allowed the black hole to merge with themselves, trapping themselves in an endless warp of spacetime. When we entered, they were still in the time before we entered," the gray fog said after thinking for a moment. "So we could never exist on their timeline."

"Is this a preventative measure?" Greed asked. "Just because you used a skill earlier, the cunning Batman hid himself in the past..."

“I have a feeling they just want somewhere to whisper,” Gray Mist said. “But we probably really need to call them out. If we let them stay like this, the game can’t be played. The people outside are still stuck with their screens black.”

"Are you allowed in?"

“Of course. Batman understands physics, and so do I. I’m quite adept at physical motion. They need external objects to compress compact celestial bodies, but I only need to compress internal factors to create a singularity. Let me give it a try…”

Just as Lord Superman and Lord Batman faced each other, they suddenly saw a flash of white light. The next second, they saw Greed standing beside them.

"You two finally came out," Greed said. "If you had stayed in there any longer, the game would have crashed. Hurry up and spit the black hole out and throw it away, or the administrator will definitely kick you out when he comes."

After saying that, he left. The main reason was that Superman's mental world was indeed difficult to navigate; the intensity was too high, and staying there for too long could easily cause problems.

"What did he mean?" Lord Superman asked.

“It’s exactly what it sounds like,” Lord Batman sighed. “It was just an experiment, and now that we know the result, there’s no need to continue.”

After speaking, his consciousness returned, and he began to control his body, adjusting the density back to its original state before extracting the black hole.

The black hole disappeared the instant it was taken out. Lord Batman, using Superman's superhuman vision, saw the hand that took the black hole, and the person behind that hand rolling their eyes at him.

Although the black hole has been removed, it's equivalent to all the energy of the original sun, along with the photons captured in the process, all of which have been absorbed by Lord Superman. He's now terrifyingly powerful.

Just then, a monster crawled out from the bottom of the wreckage of the crashed spaceship. It was a monster over ten meters tall, with a body like Godzilla but an appearance like an alien, a flat, crocodile-like head, and a long tail covered in spiky hair.

It let out a sharp roar. But suddenly, it heard a punch coming from the sky. Lord Superman punched down from mid-air, instantly turning the monster into a pulp.

“This is what happens when you appear at the wrong time,” Peter said in Pikachu’s mind. “He was supposed to appear in the first half of the game, but for some reason he didn’t. Now that it’s already the second half, isn’t he just asking for trouble?”

"Have you considered who this monster will fight next if it's not strong enough?"

"hiss……"

Sure enough, the Lord Superman who killed the monster with one punch scanned the surroundings with his eyes brimming with light.

"What do we do now?" Bucky asked Steve.

"What else can we do? Fight!"

“Oh, right.” Bucky pulled a shield from his inventory and said, “This is the equipment I found earlier, your special equipment, and it’s coming in handy now.”

Steve took it and gave a wry smile. In the past, getting his own shield would have been great, but now a part of his body was controlled by Stark; how could he possibly use a hammer and shield!

However, the shield's effects are truly impressive: it grants over 50% immunity to all attacks, immunity to instant-kill effects, halved damage upon being hit, immunity to decay damage, and when the shield is present, there is a certain chance that the opponent's attacks will be deflected towards the shield.

Steve grabbed his shield and said to Stark, "Don't be a coward, let's go for it. He'll either be immune to your attacks or have damage reduction, and even if you get knocked back, you won't be hurt when you land. Trust your father's skills..."

"I just don't trust his skills, that's why I'm afraid to go in!!" Stark shouted. "Don't run so fast, come back!!!"

Steve Rogers, controlling his body, faced the challenge head-on. But in reality, the decision-maker, Batman, had no interest in him. He had to prioritize dealing with his most pressing threat, Schiller; that gray mist was far too eerie. If he couldn't eliminate him first, there was still a possibility of disaster.

Bucky took a deep breath and said, "There's no chance to make a substitution now."

“That’s how it should be, a matter of life and death,” Natasha said. “I’m getting excited, come on.”

No one backed down; even Pikachu started looking for a position to attack. And once the battle began, they discovered that they were indeed still using skills, but without hand restrictions—skills could be used infinitely, and cooldown times were greatly reduced. Even more absurdly, one person could use the skills of two people.

In other words, the two characters' skills have been combined. For example, Natasha's basic attack is poisonous, but her attack speed is relatively slow; Bucky's basic attack is just a normal shooting, but his attack speed is incredibly fast. When the skills are combined, the result is both fast and poisonous.

Pikachu's skills deal high damage but have long cooldowns; Peter's skills deal low damage but have short cooldowns. Combining them results in skills with both high damage and short cooldowns. That makes Pikachu like a disco ball, flashing with electricity.

Steve could even call for airdrops. More importantly, his skill tree hadn't been disabled. The airdrops he summoned were large-scale engineering machines, giant robots. While these robots couldn't hit the Lord Superman flying around in the sky, they could serve as springboards for those who couldn't fly. Steve stepped onto one robot's arm, then jumped to its fingertips, and immediately threw his shield from mid-air, smashing it towards the Lord Superman.

Lord Superman was about to smash Gray Mist, but his attack was deflected onto the shield. With a "bang," the shield was knocked back, but Steve was unharmed. Lord Superman turned to look at him.

While Gray Mist still retains its passive ability to absorb damage, Greed's ultimate skill, "Switch," has been changed to "randomly swap the positions of two characters on the field." This skill is perfect for Greed.

He first floated onto the giant robot's head, then swapped positions with Pikachu. This gave Pikachu a higher vantage point, allowing it to better unleash its spells. Next, he climbed onto the robot's shoulder and swapped positions with Buggy. Buggy also found a good vantage point to attack.

Selena, however, didn't need his help at all. She possessed Catwoman's agility, speed, and thieving skills, and could switch between the forms of Dark Child and Archangel. First, she would switch to her lightsaber, activate her shield, and slash wildly, taking the opportunity to steal a hit from Lord Superman; once he realized he'd been robbed, she would switch to Dark Child form and escape; when he caught up, she would activate her shield again, stealthily steal another hit, and then run away again. She was practically invincible, capable of both offense and defense.

Lord Superman was furious, while Selena and Bruce were having a blast. They were really there to play out Overcooked Kitchen.

"Quick! Activate your shield, or he'll really hit you!"

"It's open! It's open! You control your hand to reach into his pocket, I have to raise my shield to defend, I can't free my hands!"

"I touched it! I touched it! Run!!"

"No, no, no, don't run that way. Go to the left, I can jump up from the left!"

"You can jump that high?!"

"It's only four meters, what's so high about that? Bruce, you really need to work out. Stop lazing around up there, jump up!"

"You're not a genetically modified human, how could you possibly jump up there?!"

"Isn't there a wall over there? Just use the wall to jump! First, push off the wall, then grab the edge, do a somersault, and you're up there!"

"How could I possibly know how to do such acrobatics?!"

With a "thud," Selena was slammed to the ground. Both of them felt dizzy and disoriented. Selena complained, "I shouldn't have let you mess around like this. You could have just given me the skill!"

“Honey, everyone’s like this.” Bruce was also confused. “We’ve actually been working together pretty well.”

"Come on, I think we're going to be out first," Selena sighed. "At least we've stolen all his consumables. I'm not going to let this guy win!"

Just as they were waiting for Lord Superman to deliver another punch to end the fight, a cloud of gray mist drifted over and pulled them away.

"Long live the doctor!!!" Selena cheered.

Just then, Bucky crashed down beside him. Although he was knocked to the ground, he unleashed a poison explosion from a distance, instantly reducing Lord Superman's health by more than half.

“It’s a shame we didn’t get the exclusive equipment,” Bucky said. “We almost poisoned him to death.”

Natasha sighed. She checked the skill's cooldown and said, "Let's unleash one last burst to try and lower his health as much as possible. If we still can't kill him, then this is the only option."

Steve was still charging through the air. He was indeed drawing most of Superman's attention, because no matter who he attacked, he always managed to hit the shield. And, remarkably, the shield remained unharmed. Captain America, meanwhile, hopped around like a flea, dodging several of his punches. Superman was thoroughly annoyed by him.

"Why do I feel like they're all in cahoots?!"

"Because the two of us are too strong," said Lord Batman. "If they don't team up and take us down first, no one can win."

“But even if they take us out first, they still can’t beat that Schiller guy.”

"Maybe it's because losing to Schiller has become commonplace for them," said Lord Batman. "At least they can put up a fight against us."

"No!" Lord Superman gritted his teeth. "We can't let them win so easily!"

"There might not have been any way before, but now there's a possibility. Do you want to give it a try?"

Lord Superman hesitated for a moment, then said, "Actually, I'd rather kill that damn thief."

“Fine,” said Lord Batman. “I know you can’t stand him. He stole almost all of our consumables. But he won’t be easy to deal with. He has a shield to defend himself, and he’s incredibly fast.”

"Then what do you think we should do?"

"There is a way. However, it might cause us to miss out on the final victory."

"You know, I don't care as much about winning as I do about eliminating criminals."

"Okay, watch me."

Lord Superman, hovering in mid-air, took a deep breath. He turned his attention to Steve, relentlessly pursuing him. Selena, who had taken refuge in a corner, felt safe and breathed a sigh of relief, beginning to heal with her large stockpile of consumables. Bruce, busy chatting with her, didn't notice the battlefield drawing ever closer.

Lord Superman pulled Steve closer and closer to Selena. But because the battlefield was somewhat chaotic, no one noticed. Just as they reached a suitable attack distance, Lord Superman waved his cape, activating Lord Batman's ultimate ability. Countless weapons gleamed with golden light between his capes and shot towards Selena.

"Thousands of arrows fired!"

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

Selena's health bar was instantly depleted.

"Great opportunity!" Bucky shouted to Steve. He chased after him and, taking advantage of Lord Superman's airborne state, unleashed another burst of fire, followed by a poison explosion that depleted Lord Superman's sanity. Steve, meanwhile, threw a shield, completely wiping out Lord Superman's remaining health.

Lord Superman and Selena transformed into white light almost simultaneously. However, they did not return to the Battle Realm, but instead remained on the battlefield as spirits to observe the battle.

The physical battle is over, but the verbal battle continues. And unsurprisingly, the Kryptonians have never played on the East Coast before, while the two on the other side are a self-taught amateur and an academically trained individual; one is a rapper and the other a feature artist—they could form a group and debut as a pop star.

After a "friendly" exchange with Selena and Bruce, Superman's evaluation of Selena changed from "thief" to "a rude thief," while his evaluation of Bruce became "the most rude Batman in history."
