Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones
Chapter 35 Flying
Chapter 35 Flying
Around three o'clock in the afternoon, Tyella, Harry, and Ron arrived at the green lawn in front of the school, where more than twenty brooms were already neatly arranged.
When they arrived, the field was already filled with young wizards from Gryffindor and Slytherin. The three of them were the last to arrive because Tyrell had a habit of taking a nap. Every day from 12:30 to 2:30 or from 1 to 3, Tyrell would take a two-hour nap.
This wasn't for rest; Tiera's mental strength was enough to keep him awake for days and nights. It was just a habit of his. Although his scientific research life in his previous life was busy, it was precisely because he was busy that he needed to take a nap.
Harry waited for Tierra, and Ron waited for Harry, so the three of them were the last to arrive.
However, it seems that they secretly mingled with the group of young wizards before their teacher appeared.
This time, Ron was smarter. He didn't spout nonsense like he did in the first Transfiguration class. Instead, he pulled Harry and Tyrell closer to Hermione.
A minute after Harry, Ron, and Tyrell arrived, Mrs. Hodge, the flying instructor, walked into the green meadow.
Mrs. Hodge had short, gray hair and a pair of yellowish eyes like an eagle's.
"Alright, everyone, what are you waiting for?" Mrs. Hodge said decisively. "Everyone, stand next to a flying broomstick. Quick, quick, quick, hurry up!"
Tierra glanced down at his flying broom, which was old and worn, with branches sticking out haphazardly. The others' brooms were in the same condition. First-year students weren't allowed to bring their own brooms, otherwise Tierra was sure that Malfoy would bring his supposedly Nimbus 2000 broom and show it off in front of Tierra and Harry.
"Stretch out your right hand and place it above the broom handle," Mrs. Hodge called from the front, "and say: Get up!"
"Get up!" everyone shouted.
Harry's broom immediately jumped into his hands, but only a few brooms were so obedient.
Tierra's broom bounced on the ground, but didn't land on his hand.
Hermione's broom just rolled on the ground.
Neville's broom didn't budge an inch.
Then Mrs. Hodge demonstrated to them how to ride a broom without slipping off their heads. She walked through the line, correcting their hand grip.
To Tierra's surprise, riding the broom wasn't uncomfortable at all. Instead, it felt like a soft force was supporting his bottom, which greatly reduced Tierra's aversion to riding the broom.
After all, in my past life, whenever Quidditch was mentioned in the comments section of a certain website, the most discussed topic was whether the broom would hurt my balls.
“Alright, when I whistle, you all push off the ground with your legs, push hard,” Mrs. Hodge said. “Hold your brooms steady, rise a few feet, then lean forward slightly and fall vertically back to the ground. Listen to my whistle, three, two…”
However, Neville was too nervous to be left on the ground, so before the whistle could touch Mrs. Hooch's lips, he pushed off and flew up.
“Come back, come back quickly!” Mrs. Hodge shouted, but Neville rose straight up, like a cork being ejected from a bottle, twelve feet, twenty feet.
“Ah—ah—” Neville, his face pale, slid off the broom.
With a "thud," he fell onto the grass and curled up into a ball.
Fortunately, the grassy soil had just been turned over and was very soft. Although Neville was injured and curled up on the ground groaning, he was still alive.
Mrs. Hodge bent down and picked up Neville; her face was as pale as Neville's.
“Her wrist is broken,” Harry heard her whisper. “Okay, kids…it’s alright. Come on, let’s go to the hospital.”
She turned to the rest of the class and said, "I'm taking this child to the hospital, and none of you are allowed to move! Put the flying brooms back where they were, or you'll be kicked out of Hogwarts before you even have a chance to say a word of Quidditch!"
"Let's go, you poor thing." The last sentence was addressed to Neville.
Then Mrs. Hodge, carrying Neville, disappeared through the castle gates.
As soon as they were out of earshot, Malfoy burst into laughter.
“Did you see what a sorry sight he was in, that big oaf?” the other Slytherin students chimed in. “Shut up, Malfoy,” Parvati Petit snapped.
“Oh ho? You’re protecting Longbottom?” said Pansy Parkinson, an ugly Slytherin girl. “I never thought you’d like a chubby little tearful thing, Pettier.”
"Look!" Malfoy said, rushing over and grabbing something from the grass. "It's from that big idiot Longbottom's grandmother."
He held up the memory ball, which glittered in the sunlight.
However, at this moment, Tiera had already come up with a broom.
The broom is longer and thinner than the book.
But having already learned his lesson once, Malfoy was not about to fall for the same trick again. Before Tyella's broom could reach him, he mounted it and flew away, causing a gasp from the young wizards below.
So it seems that, aside from the helicopter part, Malfoy at least actually does ride a broom.
"Come and get me, you bookworm Muggle!" Malfoy yelled in mid-air, glaring menacingly at Tyella.
"Bring Malfoy back!" Harry shouted at him.
Malfoy grinned maliciously, tossing Neville's memory ball around in his hand.
"Come and take it if you want it." Then, after seeing Tierra pull out her wand, Malfoy flew even higher.
Harry grabbed the broom.
“No!” Hermione cried. “Mrs. Hodge told us not to move. You’ll cause us all trouble.”
Harry ignored her. He mounted his flying broomstick, pushed off the ground, and rose into the air. The air whistled through his hair, and his robes billowed behind him. Soon he was at the same height as Malfoy.
James's genetic influence is undeniable.
This surprised Malfoy greatly.
“Give it to me,” Harry shouted, “or I’ll knock you off the broom.”
“Oh, really?” Malfoy said. He wanted to laugh, but it felt like there was a toad stuck in his throat.
Harry seemed to know exactly what to do. He leaned forward, gripped the broom tightly with both hands, and launched it at Malfoy like a javelin. Malfoy barely dodged it.
Harry whirled around again and gripped the broom firmly. Several people below were clapping.
He once again enjoyed the feeling of being the center of attention.
This time, however, he did it entirely on his own.
Harry glanced down at Tyella.
Tierra maintained her faint smile, blending into the crowd and gently clapping for Harry.
For some reason, Harry suddenly felt a little disappointed.
He would have preferred to see surprise or delight on Tierra's face.
Instead of that perpetually faint smile.
