Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones
Chapter 34 Exercises
Chapter 34 Exercises
Harry had never believed that he could know a boy, and that he hated this guy more than Dudley. It was only after meeting Draco Malfoy that he began to believe it.
Fortunately, the only class that first-year Gryffindor students take with Slytherin students is Potions, and Harry has really shone in Potions, becoming the only Gryffindor in the last decade to receive bonus points in Potions, so it's not too difficult for them to tolerate Malfoy.
That was at least the initial thought.
Then one day, they found a notice posted in the Gryffindor common room, and after reading it, they all sighed.
Flying lessons begin this Thursday, and Gryffindor students will be taking classes with Slytherin students.
“What bad luck,” Harry said dejectedly. “Just as I expected. To make a fool of myself in front of Malfoy while riding a flying broomstick.”
He had always longed to learn to fly; this desire was stronger than anything else.
“It’s not certain whether you’ll make a fool of yourself,” Ron said rationally. “I know Malfoy always brags about how great he is at Quidditch, but I bet he’s just exaggerating.”
Malfoy talked all day about flying. He complained loudly that first-year students weren't qualified to play on the school's Quidditch team, and he told many long, boastful stories, always ending with him narrowly escaping a Muggle helicopter.
However, this story was ruthlessly exposed by Tyella, who happened to be passing by.
Tierra first pointed out from the International Confederation of Wizards' Secrecy Act that Malfoy could not possibly practice broomsticks in the area where Muggle helicopters fly, so Malfoy was either breaking the law or bragging.
Then, several errors in Malfoy's description of helicopters were pointed out.
This was echoed by many Muggle students in the auditorium at the time.
Finally, Tyella listed a whole bunch of terms that neither he nor the wizards present understood, such as aerodynamics, explaining that if Malfoy really got within five meters of the helicopter, the powerful airflow generated by the helicopter's rotors would immediately engulf him, turning him into a pile of minced meat and throwing him out, without giving Malfoy the reaction time he described in his story.
This ruthless exposure caused Malfoy to harbor a deep grudge against Tyella ever since.
He threatened to make Yela suffer during flight lessons.
Therefore, although Tyella had become a smart and strong older brother in Harry's eyes, Harry was still unsure about riding a broomstick.
After all, there is a huge difference between children from wizarding families and children from Muggle families.
Every wizarding family’s child Harry knew had at least seen a flying broomstick, even the clumsy Neville had seen his cousin ride one in front of him when he was a child.
But when he tried to ride it himself, his grandmother scolded him and made him get off.
In addition, even Ron had boasted to Harry and Tyrell about how he almost got hit by a hang glider while riding his brother Charlie's old broomstick.
When other young wizards boasted about riding flying broomsticks, Tyella would simply listen quietly, or roll her eyes and then silently read a book. It was only when Malfoy boasted that Tyella spoke up and called him out. This was the first time Harry had seen a mocking expression on Tyella's face, and Harry almost thought Tyella and Malfoy had a grudge.
Thursday morning arrived quickly, and almost everyone was nervous about the upcoming flying lesson, including the children from wizarding and Muggle families. Hermione was talking incessantly to him about a book she had recently read called "Quidditch Origins," and Neville listened intently to every word she said. Even the little wizards who claimed to have ridden broomsticks before were too nervous to eat.
Almost everyone... except for Tierra.
Harry noticed that Tyrell still had that porcelain doll-like expression, clutching that thick book, "An Introduction to Alchemy."
This book is obscure and difficult to understand; the whole book is filled with dizzying geometric patterns and piles of letter formulas.
Even Hermione, the little witch, struggled to understand it, but she didn't give up. In addition to Quidditch Origins, she also borrowed a book called A Short History of the Development of Alchemy, which was larger and thicker than The Basics of Alchemy.
Finally, Hermione's theoretical discussion was interrupted by an owl flying in, and everyone except Neville and the Muggle students breathed a sigh of relief.
Harry hadn't received a letter since Hagrid's last text message, let alone Tyella, who had never received a single package.
But Tyrell never cared, always calmly reading her book. Even when Malfoy deliberately showed off in front of Harry and Tyrell several times, opening up the various sweets, toys, and magical items that Harry had never seen before that his mother had sent him from home, Tyrell remained just as composed.
Harry was similar; although he couldn't be as expressionless as Tyrell, he could still avoid paying attention to Malfoy because Tyrell would always give him a densely packed set of test questions whenever she was reading.
Most of them were fill-in-the-blank questions.
These are all fill-in-the-blank questions and definitions that Tiera wrote herself over the past five years to help her memorize knowledge of potions and spells.
After Tyella used magic to erase the answers and some knowledge that should not be revealed, she gave it to Harry.
Tyrell found raising Harry to be quite fun. In a way, the stronger Harry was, the safer Tyrell was. After all, Harry was the main force against Voldemort. The stronger and more dazzling Tyrell was, the more Voldemort would focus his attention on Harry, and the safer Tyrell would be.
The questions were all created by Tyrell based on Merlin's printed textbooks, which are no different from the textbooks used at Hogwarts now. Hundreds of years have passed, and this textbook has not only not been updated, but it has even removed the Animagus part of Transfiguration and eliminated a course called Alchemy.
Having tasted the glory of being showered with honor, Harry grew increasingly eager for knowledge about the wizarding world.
But Harry was only an eleven-year-old wizard after all. Being playful and active was his nature. After doing just a few problems, he couldn't sit still anymore. He would either look around or play wizard cards with Ron.
Tyella wasn't Harry's father or mother, so she couldn't interfere too much. Harry loved studying, but if he didn't like studying, that was fine too. Only when Malfoy came to show off his gifts would Harry obediently focus on writing those practice problems without looking at anything else.
This is why Tyrell would go out of her way to embarrass Malfoy, hoping he would come and visit more often; otherwise, why would an adult like him bother a child?
