"Brother, you've given up an opportunity." Omegan then knocked the man unconscious, then said helplessly. Clearly, everything the Emperor had predicted had come true. Although Alpharius was still willing to communicate with him, a deep rift had appeared in their relationship. The difference in their beliefs was so great that it was too difficult to mend it.
"Tell me why you came to see me. If it was our father who asked you to take me back, then I can only say sorry. If you are willing to listen, I can explain it to you." Alpharius' voice came again.
"An agent from the Word Bearers Legion returned with shocking intelligence. Lorgar betrayed our father, the Imperium, and even humanity. He sought power by joining the destructive powers of the Warp. Those beings feed on the souls and civilizations of intelligent creatures," Omegan said. He then turned on the projector, confident that his brother would be able to see everything.
"So-called gods are the cancer of civilization. This applies to the evil beings of the Warp, and to the gods born within civilization," Alpharius said after reading it. Alpharius did have some understanding of the Chaos Gods. After all, this came from the Emperor's warnings and instructions, and also from the information provided by the Esoteric Cult.
"Alpharius, I know why you are hiding from me. You think our father's becoming a so-called god is a betrayal of civilization and the wrong path, so you decided to take action, is that right?" Omegan asked.
"Our father already knows?" Alpharius' tone was a little strange, as if he was a little surprised by Omegan's statement, but then he was relieved. "Our father is so powerful, it's normal for him to know this matter."
"Alpharius, you have wronged my father. You think he is a greedy person, but that is not the case. Just imagine, if there were no father and the traveler who has completed the upgrade, how should we deal with the Overlord of Randan? The so-called gods are nothing more than high-dimensional beings with a certain degree of power. And if a civilization wants to become a true overlord of the galaxy, this kind of power is necessary and indispensable." Omegan dissuaded.
"Isn't our father's power enough? Even if he doesn't become a god, can't he deal with Lord Randan? And that so-called traveler, killing Lord Randan was just a means, not an end. He did it to pave his own path to becoming a god. The selfishness in it is disgusting. He did it for immortality! For faith and powerful power!" said Alpharius.
"Brother, is it possible that this traveler is inherently immortal? Is it possible that he is one of the most powerful beings in the real universe? Is it possible that the real universe can no longer accommodate his soul and power, so he must ascend?"
"Alpharius, think about it carefully. For someone who is almost invincible in the physical universe, would he really become a god because of the temptations you mentioned?" Omegan said.
"This..." Alpharius was speechless. He realized there seemed to be a flaw in his logic. If some people became gods for immortality and power, then recalling the Emperor and the Traveler's performance, this was already the ceiling of the real universe.
"Perhaps they have other purposes? Or perhaps some pursuit we're unaware of?" Imagination is part of the nature of intelligent creatures. And the stubborn Alpharius believed his father and the traveler had other motives.
"If there is any reason that forces them to become gods, it can only be this dark galaxy and the evil in the warp." Omegan sighed.
"I acknowledge the greatness of the Emperor, but he really shouldn't seek to become a god, and travelers who have already become gods shouldn't continue to gain faith. My brother, I have seen too many people who want to become gods and the disasters they have caused. Our world should be rational and not be swayed by metaphysics. There should not be a superior being manipulating all living beings." Alpharius said.
"Manipulating sentient beings? Bewitching them? Haha, isn't that what we, the Alpha Legion, are good at? How are some of our actions any different from those of the beings you cursed?" Omegan retorted. "This world is destined to host higher-dimensional beings beyond our comprehension. They are powerful and harbor ill will towards us. We are powerless against them. Whether it's the former Randan Overmind or the evil gods of the Warp, the former are gone. The latter persist. You've witnessed the might of the Elder Brain and felt the pressure of the Randan Overmind. You should know that without the Emperor and the Traveler, we would likely fail."
"He who slays a dragon becomes a dragon..." Alpharius sighed. "I don't deny that the Traveler has made great contributions to humanity, but he shouldn't have usurped power. He shouldn't have become a god of faith. The Randan Overlord is a prime example. He influenced the entire civilization for his own strength. He controlled the Mastermind, and the Mastermind controlled the ordinary Randans. This formed a chain, a chain that the Randans and civilization cannot break free from. Omegan, because of faith, these gods can subtly influence every aspect of civilization. If one day, a god goes astray, what will we do?"
Alpharius's words make perfect sense. A deranged racial deity can indeed bring unimaginable disaster upon civilization, like what happened to Cain when he went berserk and wanted to exterminate the Eldar. But this is the Warhammer universe, where all manner of evil and demons abound! It's truly a world where, without madness, life is impossible! Do you desire civilization and rationality? Do you desire harmonious coexistence? Just ask the demons and demons of the real universe and the unholy gods of the Warp: will they give you that chance?
Back then, humanity and the Emperor wanted to be good people! The Human Confederation had signed agreements with countless civilizations. Back then, the Emperor wasn't the cold, aloof monarch; He was merely a being playing with the human world. What was wrong with Him? It was this galaxy that was wrong, it was the Warp! Going back tens of millions of years, the fault lay with the C'tan, the bewitched Necrontyr, and the Old Ones who didn't take advantage of the Necrontyr's weakness and ruthlessly kill them!
When the flames of the War in Heaven illuminated the entire galaxy, everything changed. Ancient and great civilizations fell, the boundaries between reality and the universe blurred, and the deep darkness of the Warp gave birth to the original evil! From then on, war was the eternal melody in the galaxy, and peace was but a brief truce!
The appearance of the Eye of Terror shattered humanity's brief glory. With the Warp unable to navigate, all hope was shattered. The aliens, once living in harmony, began to prey on the fragile human civilization. The evil within the Warp also took advantage of the opportunity to harvest souls and deceive the world! Faced with this situation, humanity, the Emperor, and the Traveler had no choice! Unfortunately, Alpharius couldn't understand all of this. After all, he was just a child!
"Brother, we are all Primarchs and commanders of the Legions. We should understand that when our enemies possess some terrible weapons, the best outcome is that we also have them, and stronger ones. Racial gods may indeed be harmful, but we cannot do without them, because our ultimate enemies are those terrifying evil gods. Even the Primarchs are not immune to the evil gods' bewitching nature," said Omegan.
"Omegan, my brother, there are many things in this world that are beyond your expectations, and I cannot tell you everything. But I can guarantee that I am loyal to humanity and to the empire created by our father. I truly do not wish to become your enemy over this matter. We are one, Omegan," Alpharius said painfully. And then, Omegan responded with a long silence.
"Then can we keep some distance from each other?" After a while, Omegan finally spoke.
"What do you mean?" Alpharius asked.
"I will lead my men to deal with Lorgar, his corrupted Legion, and any other Primarchs who might rebel! You cannot interfere with my actions. And I will not care what you do, but if your actions are retaliated against by our fathers and our brothers, I can only promise that I will not get involved. Okay, Alpharius? Let's keep our distance and maintain a truce," Omegan said, choking back a little. He stated his bottom line.
"You are dividing the Legion, and we were..." said Alpharius.
"The moment you were bewitched by the cult, our differences and even hostility were inevitable! Alpharius, I'm not negotiating with you, but issuing you a final ultimatum! Either you accept it, or we go to war!" Omegan said with an unusually firm attitude.
"Well, this is an acceptable outcome." After several minutes of silence, Alpharius' voice returned, and Omegan's response temporarily eased his nerves. At least, on the surface, the peace would remain. Of course, as the Primarch of the Alpha Legion, Omegan knew that everyone was secretly engaged in a lot of trickery. His words weren't so much a statement as a way for the two Primarchs to back off. It saved their dignity!
"May we not come to blows in the future," said Omegan.
"I will prove myself right. Take care, my brother," Alpharius responded.
--------
"Sir, you and..." Matthias said when Omegan walked out of the meeting room.
"We have important matters to deal with. Lorgar and his legion have been corrupted. Other legions and my brothers are also suspected of being corrupted, and I have to do my job. The war between us and the evil gods of the warp and their minions has begun! Do your job well, Captain Matthias." Omegan said grimly.
"As you command, Primarch." The latter bowed.
Afterwards, Omegan returned to his flagship. In his own room, he planned his first move. This move was not aimed at Lorgar, but at the Alpha Legion. He didn't know how many people around him would truly obey him instead of his brother! While Omegan was busy, some things happened in the Emperor's Legion that caught the attention of travelers!
Chapter 319: The Fall of the Emperor's Son
On a planet recently captured by the Emperor's Children, a group of specially armored warriors used instruments to search and collect something. As the highest commander of the Emperor's Children Legion, second only to the Primarch, Eidolon solemnly oversaw everything. Across the battlefield, silent shrieks echoed. This sound, born of soul-shattering and torture, was piercing and utterly uncomfortable, but to Eidolon, it was a delightful experience, a sound symbolizing the ultimate experience, the final roar before the soul's shattering, the final melody, and the Emperor's Children's secret weapon for victory!
Several years ago, while slaying alien civilizations, the Emperor's Children Legion acquired sonic weapons. These weapons were so powerful that they could either disperse them to shatter large swathes of infantry, or focus them to destroy tanks and mechas. Smaller sonic weapons could be carried by soldiers, while larger ones could be mounted on tanks and dreadnoughts. Fulgrim, upon receiving these weapons, was delighted with them and requested their development and deployment throughout the Legion.
As research and development continued, the Emperor's Children's technical sergeants discovered a serious problem: even if they replicated all the technical and material aspects of the weapon, they still couldn't achieve the power specified. During a Legion meeting, Fulgrim raised the question of whether this weapon required other special "ammunition" or energy, and hinted that it might require some soul or psychic energy.
Later, after conquering another human planet, the Legion welcomed a woman who called herself Enkali. She was a breathtaking beauty, her eyes sparkling like gemstones, her long, soft golden hair smoother than the finest silk, and her exquisite features enough to draw Fulgrim's admiration. Clad in a silver robe, her skin, tinged with pink, shimmering at the shoulders, exuded an intoxicating scent. Even Fulgrim was captivated by Enkali's beauty and dignified demeanor. Even more enviable was the fact that Lady Enkali was a learned scholar and forger. She pointed out a missing link in the Emperor's Children's replica of sonic weaponry.
"This is an exquisite weapon, and the Emperor's Children Legion has the technology to complete it. But unfortunately, you lack a kind of ammunition called soul. The resentment and madness of the soul of an intelligent life before dying are the key to making this weapon truly effective. Although it is cruel, if we can exchange the enemy's soul for our victory, it is still very valuable, isn't it?" In a meeting, Enkali persuaded the senior leaders of the Emperor's Children Legion present.
Ultimately, however, many opposed the introduction of these weapons into the Legion. Vespasian, the Supreme Lord Commander and his equal, was the most vocal, refusing to use such brutal weapons in battle. Eidolon, seeing this as mere conservatism, expressed his disapproval and even a degree of sarcasm towards Vespasian's opinion, believing victory was the goal, weapons merely tools. There was no right or wrong in tools, and only victory was worthy of remembrance. At the time, the Legion's Lord, his own father, Fulgrim, offered leniency to both sides, allowing his sons to choose whether to use or not use a particular weapon. Eidolon and some of his men decided to use this weapon.
Then, things took a turn that many found unbelievable. Previously, most of the companies wielding sonic weapons had simply collected the remaining souls of aliens from the battlefield. But then, they discovered that torturing these souls could make them even more powerful. Some even went so far as to source souls from recently conquered planets. Some even began using human souls to fuel their weapons. This kind of thing was strictly forbidden within the Legion. It was the kind of thing that was fine if done secretly, but would be a major problem if discovered.
This time, Eidolon's fundamental purpose in coming here was to monitor the soul collection process. His insider had already obtained some intelligence, and someone within the Legion wanted to investigate this matter. Eidolon naturally did not want to go from being the second-in-command of the Legion to becoming the target of public criticism!
"Sir, there are enough souls here for us to use. We can leave here in 10 hours at most." An officer reported to Eidolon.
"No, that's not enough. We need more souls, not just to feed our weapons. Lady Enkali's research also requires more souls. It's an honor for these lowly, traitorous people to be used by Lady Enkali." A sickly smile played on Eidolon's lips. He recalled the time when this noble lady had praised his work. Her graceful movements and soft, honey-like voice had nearly captivated Eidolon. That feeling of comfort and honor was unforgettable.
And I heard that some little ants seemed to want to cause trouble for me, and Eidolon really wanted to play with them!
"No one can resist the charm of Lady Enkali. No one." Eidolon wrote in his diary. Meanwhile, in the higher dimension, the traveler had witnessed everything Eidolon had done.
--------
"Has Slaanesh's corruption reached this point?" The Traveler couldn't help but frown. Fulgrim appeared normal at the moment, but in reality, his inner barriers were gradually crumbling. It was only his past glory and a lingering sense of righteousness that prevented him from completely siding with Slaanesh. Within the Legion, a group led by Eidolon was "practicing" Slaanesh's ways, while others desperately opposed and tried to stop him. However, it was clear that with Fulgrim deliberately taking sides, the loyalists were facing a difficult situation amidst the Slaanesh daemon's machinations. While Eidolon was collecting souls, the loyalists were attempting to gather evidence to sue Eidolon before the Primarch. Unfortunately, Eidolon already knew of this and even used it as an opportunity to confront the loyalists, believing them to be an obstacle to the Legion's continued progress and perfection. Fulgrim had already hinted that these loyalists were deeply "annoying"!
So, the loyalists suffered a tragedy. After all, even if the loyalists went through untold hardships to obtain evidence, the judge was on the opposite side. There was no way they could win!
"No, I'm going to go take a look." The traveler thought for a moment and prepared to leave. However, while traveling through the subspace, a purple cloud blocked the traveler's path, and a graceful figure appeared in front of the traveler.
"Young god, this road is blocked." Slaanesh's slightly hoarse voice sounded in the traveler's ears.
"Your voice is as disgusting as two pieces of sandpaper rubbing against each other." The traveler sneered.
"Even after becoming a god, you're still the same, devoid of any sense of humor. As the chess master, how can I personally play the game with the pieces?" Slaanesh said with a hint of joking. His clone had come here with no intention of ambush the enemy. It wasn't that he didn't want to, but that he couldn't. Imagine, during the fall of the Eldar, the Chaos Gods, despite having the best of both worlds, couldn't bring down the Traveler. Now, if the Traveler wanted to leave, Slaanesh wouldn't be able to stop him. It's just that Slaanesh's nature makes him want to engage in verbal battles and block the Traveler's passage. Being unable to detain him doesn't mean he can't stop him! As for a fight between the Traveler and Slaanesh? It's far from the time for direct action.
"Isn't it because your clones can't descend into the real universe? You seek the Primarchs, isn't it because you need a vessel to store your power?" The Traveler unhesitatingly exposed Slaanesh. After all, they were all "battle-hardened," and flouting martial ethics was standard practice! Compared to the racial gods who ascended from mortals to deities, the Heretic God's biggest problem was the inability to allow their clones to enter the real universe. The Primarchs provided this avenue. Even if they could, the Primarchs could only withstand the Heretic God's power for a very short time. In reality, the best option was for the Heretic God to find a Deus willing to submit. The latter was powerful enough, but throughout history, from Terra to aliens, there had been Deus who had been slain by the Heretic God, but none had surrendered! Having already possessed godhood and tasted divine power, one would never yield, even under the threat of death!
"Nyos is too greedy. He wants to take everything. However, as fate has it, we will take what belongs to us sooner or later. You should understand. And we will eventually find a suitable container." Slaanesh sneered.
"Destiny?" The Traveler stroked his chin, a look of deep thought. "Slaanesh, don't you find this a fascinating question? Khorne, Tzeentch, and Nurgle were born in the throes of the War of the Ancients. They are the combined negative emotions of countless innocent victims, the fall of civilization, the birth pangs of the stars. They represent the wrath and revenge of those who died unjustly against this galaxy. So, who are you? Have you ever considered this?"
"Hmm?! What do you mean?" Slaanesh asked.
"It was the Eldar who awakened you, but you caused the Eldar to fall. This is a galactic overlord-level civilization, the descendants of the ancient saints. You have to repay this cause and effect... So, how do you plan to repay it?" The traveler asked with a smile.
(Although the Warhammer background mentions that the last Death Sword is in Slaanesh's palace, it seems to also be hinted that this is also expected by a great clown.)
"Hmph, they are just some guys struggling to survive. Together with their gods, they can only cause a little ripple in this galaxy. They are not as powerful as you." Slaanesh snorted coldly.
"If I weren't a god, I'd believe you." The Traveler chuckled. After all, from a purely power perspective, Slaanesh did have the upper hand over the Eldar gods. But in this galaxy and the Warhammer universe, power alone wasn't the only solution. Even though the Emperor had fallen into nearly every trap, and the Chaos Gods were indeed more powerful than the Emperor, the Emperor's essence remained immortal. Sending the Emperor to the toilet was already the Chaos Gods' limit.
For the Emperor, if humanity is not taken into consideration, then the Emperor can say in a very Versailles way: "Damn it, I haven't accomplished my mission yet, so I can only go back and become a god, and then exterminate all of you monsters and demons!" (Note: In the background, before the Great Heresy, the old prophet, the Dark Eldar, and the Ark Eldar watched a play performed by the Harlequin, which hinted that if the Emperor decided to give up, the damage to the physical universe would be greater than Slaanesh, far more than just the end of human civilization.)
"Fate, Slaanesh, fate!" the Traveler sighed. After the Traveler said this, he could clearly sense Slaanesh's fear. Perhaps, this confirmed some of the Traveler's previous thoughts! That is, compared to the other evil gods, Slaanesh was not only the weakest, but he also might have some problems. For example, in such a short time, had Slaanesh truly absorbed the power of those fallen gods?
"Alright, enough small talk. I want to go, and you're trying to stop me. Let's try and see who's more skilled." The Traveler transformed into countless streams of light, attempting to penetrate Slaanesh's purple mist. The mist, like tentacles, blocked the streams, most of them blocked. But then, the streams continued to flow through the real universe, the Warp, and the Webway. With the activation of the power of travel, Slaanesh's pressure became immense. Finally, a single stream of light pierced through the heavy blockade of the purple mist. The remaining streams reunited to form the Traveler.
"I won this one," the traveler said with a smile.
"Haha, you just leaked a little bit of power. Your previous strength was not even as strong as that of a top demon. My servants can easily crush it." Slaanesh sneered.
"Let us wait and see. This game has just begun," the Traveler said. As Slaanesh had said, this force was so insignificant to the gods that a single volley of fire from a single great demon or a single army could sap it. Yet, though the force was small, it carried the Traveler's will upon the target planet. The Traveler could not rescue Fulgrim, nor could he even halt the corruption of the Imperial Legion. But the Traveler desired to rescue as many as possible from this stagnant water. Every extra life saved was a win!
"Are you still concerned about those fragile mortals? Do you think they can serve any purpose? They are nothing more than our food, tools, and entertainment." Slaanesh asked.
"No, they are the power that can change the galaxy, the power that can balance the warp and the real universe. Don't forget, I was once a mortal." The traveler said this and left. The game had begun, and there was no point in his original body staying here.
"Enkali, a strange and powerful being has entered the chess game. Beware of him! He is the echo of the ancient times! He is invisible and traceless." Slaanesh sent a message to his great demon.
"Ancient echoes? The traceless one?" Enkali shuddered upon hearing the message from the gods Slaanesh. She recalled the legend that circulated in the Warp, the legend of a mortal who, over tens of thousands of years, ultimately became a god. The legend of someone who escaped the siege of the evil gods and returned alive!
Chapter 320 Traveler: Let’s work, loyalists! (7K)
"As you command, my Lord," Enkari replied. If she could, if this order hadn't come from Slaanesh himself, she would have returned to the Warp even now, even if it took 666 years to reappear. She knew that after the legendary invisible being passed through Slaanesh's blockade, only a trace of its power could reach it, and her demonic forces were far more powerful. But it was, after all, an avatar of the gods, their face... And the gods held grudges, and they could live forever!
However, at this point, Enkari had no choice but to follow Slaanesh's orders. Slaanesh granted a blessing to one of his most admired daemons, allowing her to survive attacks from even weaker divine powers. This, in turn, temporarily freed Enkari from his fear of death.
"But I wonder what identity such a being would present before me?" Enkari mused. "I can have Eidolon find him, and then deal with him! That's all." Enkari didn't know what the severely weakened clone of the Supreme Being would do, but he wasn't afraid. If the opponent was weak, he would only be able to rely on the Legion's might to deal with him. However, Fulgrim was already on the verge of being captured by Slaanesh, and the entire Legion would become his enemy.
"Interesting! I wonder if these Supreme Beings, after losing their immense power, will become as weak as a mortal?" Enkali shuddered at the thought. Due to her Slaanesh demonic nature, she temporarily ignored the possibility of future retaliation from a certain deity. Several thoughts brewed in her mind, exciting her.
"This will be a very interesting game and contest." Enkali stood up and walked to the communicator. He then modified a portion of the message and told Eidolon. Meanwhile, the loyalists' cruiser was almost arriving at the planet, making final preparations. The traveler also boarded the warship.
"What kind of vest should I prepare for myself?" The traveler said, stroking his chin in a cabin within the warship. Before taking action, one must first prepare an identity, one that aligns with one's goals. And what was the traveler's goal in this operation? In fact, to some extent, it was the same as that of the loyalists this time: to obtain firsthand evidence of Eidolon and his men's crimes and then expose it.
However, the loyalists, led by Sol Tarvitz, wanted to present the relevant evidence to Fulgrim, who would then punish Eidolon and his men. The Traveler, however, did not. He knew that Chemos's phoenix had fallen. To expose this matter would be to walk into a trap.
So what about telling the Emperor about this? This isn't a particularly good idea. First of all, the most you can do is find out that Eidolon used forbidden weapons and engaged in forbidden research and development. At most, you can just kill Eidolon. This is useless for Fulgrim. Fulgrim can just say he didn't know, and there's even hope that Eidolon can "make meritorious service with his crime." After all, even if Eidolon collected human souls, they were still his enemy's. Eidolon, at least for now, isn't that shameless. This punishment won't hurt Fulgrim. But if you insist on using this as an excuse to deprive Fulgrim of his military power or weaken his legion, many Primarchs will disagree. After all, the essence of war is efficient killing. That's all! Even loyal Primarchs do things that are difficult for ordinary people to accept.
The Traveler also had to consider one thing: even if Eidolon was reported, even if Fulgrim was punished, what would happen if Fulgrim retaliated against the loyalists? This was something the Traveler absolutely did not want to see happen, and the Emperor could not use this as an excuse to weaken Fulgrim's forces, or force most of the loyalists to leave Fulgrim. After all, by the time the Heresy broke out, the Imperial Children had long been corrupted, yet 3 of them still remained loyal. The Emperor could not possibly take all of them with him, could he? It wasn't that he couldn't, but he had to consider the wishes of the other Primarchs.
"Well, maybe Horus can play a role at this time? It seems a bit unreasonable not to go and see the uncontaminated Horus after traveling to the 30K era." The traveler said jokingly.
That's right, in the end, the Traveler identified Horus as the key to breaking the deadlock! Honestly, if Horus hadn't ultimately rebelled, the Traveler would have wanted to interact with him and guide him. After all, Horus was a pretty good person most of the time. But unfortunately, the Emperor and the Traveler were limited in their abilities and couldn't bring themselves to do it.
At this point, Horus was still quite good. Although he had some small thoughts and ambitions, he was able to grasp the major issues. After learning that Fulgrim and his men had done something taboo, Horus still spoke a fair word. On the one hand, it was because of his sense of justice, and on the other hand, Horus had to consider the Emperor's reaction. Therefore, apart from the Emperor, Horus was the only person who could make Fulgrim say that he was convinced.
However, getting Fulgrim to admit his mistakes and punish those responsible is only the first, and easiest, step. Next, what about the loyalists? How can they be protected from Fulgrim's subsequent retaliation?
The Traveler had also considered this issue and would also place it on Horus. Horus was a man of great skill and insight. He could no doubt anticipate that after this incident, certain individuals within the Emperor's Children would find their position extremely awkward, perhaps even facing retaliation. Many of these individuals were highly valued by Horus, and many even held deep ties with Horus's Council of Four Kings. Horus would certainly not ignore this. Furthermore, the Traveler would offer Horus an offer he couldn't refuse: temporary command of these loyal Emperor's Children!
That's right, let Horus command these Emperor's Children, and only he. The Traveler had considered this carefully. At this point, Horus was still a role model among Primarchs. He wouldn't mistreat those who had fought alongside him. Secondly, Fulgrim couldn't refuse this. On the one hand, Horus could be said to have saved his face. On the other hand, Horus had always taken care of Fulgrim since his return. So, regardless of their old friendship or the current situation, if Horus offered to take some of the men with him, Fulgrim wouldn't refuse, even if he was unhappy. That was enough!
As for what would happen to these loyal princes when a major rebellion broke out in the future? That was a matter for the future. The Traveler could only do this temporarily. As He had said before, even gods were not omnipotent.
To achieve this, the Traveler must find a suitable identity, one that allows him to stand before the Primarch, offer his opinions, and gain his attention. Currently, only one identity can do this: the Emperor's Emissary! These powerful beings, directly under the Emperor, travel the galaxy, carrying out the orders of the Emperor and the Traveler.
"Then I'll arrange for myself a position as the Emperor's attendant," the traveler said with a smile. All the necessary documents were readily available; all he had to do was transform himself and don a pair of gold and blue robes. A moment later, the traveler, having completed his preparations, left the cabin. He planned to first see what the loyalists, led by Tarvitz, were planning.
"Karrion Zavin. Tell me about the intelligence you obtained." Tarvitz said to his Terran companion beside him.
"We have determined that some fallen in the Legion are doing some evil things on this newly returned planet. They are collecting the souls of the dead and using them as energy for weapons. They may even be doing something more blasphemous, such as artificially creating suffering and pain. We must stop all this. And after obtaining evidence, report them to the Primarch." Zavin said with a serious expression.
"But the problem now is that Commander Eidolon has issued a blockade order. No foreign ships are allowed to enter low orbit unless with his permission. If we rashly enter, the defenders here can treat us as enemies." said another Imperial officer.
"But we've got a clear clue that a blasphemous ritual is going on here. We must go in and get the evidence. And aren't we prepared? This Dagger light cruiser has been specially modified to quietly enter the planet's low orbit without being detected. This opportunity is truly rare," Zavin said. "Tavitz, you need the courage to make a decision. Even if we may have to fight with someone, I believe justice is on our side."
"Faced with blasphemy, we cannot retreat. We must go," Tarvitz said after a moment's contemplation. "But we must formulate a thorough plan. We need to wait until darkness falls in the target area before we act. In the meantime, I will shut down the battleship's engines and let the planet's gravity carry us to our destination. Now, I'll assign the tasks."
However, before Tarvitz could give the order for the mission, an alarm caught the attention of everyone present.
"Sir, there are outsiders infiltrating our ship, and they claim to be the Emperor's attendants. We have verified that they should be real." The voice of a comrade came from the communicator. His voice was a little panicked, not because of fear, but because this matter was beyond everyone's expectations.
"Damn it, how could this happen? The Emperor's attendants are here! We were trying our best to avoid this." Zaven said nervously.
"This is truly terrible news. We had hoped to resolve this matter within the Legion. If the Emperor learns of this, the consequences will be disastrous. The honor of the Third Legion will be tarnished, and our Primarch may even be reprimanded by the Emperor! This is simply unacceptable," another officer said anxiously. The Emperor's Children, with their pride and arrogance, found it difficult to accept the arrival of an Imperial messenger aboard their ship. They were utterly hostile to blasphemy, but that didn't mean they truly wanted the Legion's scandals to reach the Emperor's ears.
"How about we end this operation?" an officer said. "Let's pretend nothing happened here. Let's leave and take this Imperial attendant with us. We still have a chance. We can handle this independently next time."
"This is disloyalty to the Emperor," Tarvitz refused. "If the Emperor's Retainers hadn't come, we could have handled this on our own, because the Emperor was too busy to attend to this situation, and we could have acted at our convenience. But now, with the Emperor's Retainers arriving, it shows that the Emperor's eyes are on us. To retreat or conceal this would be disloyalty to the Emperor, and this is absolutely unacceptable. The Emperor has bestowed honor upon the Third Legion and placed his full trust in us. We cannot do this."
"So what should we do now?" asked Zaven.
"There's still time before we act, and we can have a frank conversation with him," Tarvitz said.
"Huh...Okay, I hope there will be a good result." Zawen nodded.
"Take this Emperor's messenger to the reception room, we will personally welcome the Emperor's messenger." Tarvitz ordered.

"Captain Tarvitz of the Third Legion respectfully welcomes the Emperor's messenger. May the Emperor's light shine upon the entire galaxy, and may human civilization flourish forever." In the reception room, the Emperor's Children, led by Captain Tarvitz, respectfully welcomed the Emperor's attendant, who called himself the Brother. The Emperor's attendants had their own names, but most often, they used aliases or code names while carrying out their missions. Ahriman's last code name was "Professor." The Traveler also gave himself the name Brother.
"Loyal warriors of the Emperor, I am very happy to carry out the mission with you. You can believe me, my main mission here is to correct some problems of some people in the Emperor's Children Legion, not to come with punishment." The Traveler said to Tarvitz.
The Emperor's retainers had visited the Imperial Children before, but only to assist in combat and announce commendations, not to remain permanently stationed there. There had been some interaction between the Legion's senior officers and the Emperor's retainers. After all, before Fulgrim's fall, the Emperor's Children were the true face and model of the Imperium, and the Emperor would be generous with all due recognition and assistance. Tarvitz and the others had limited knowledge of the Emperor's retainers, but they knew one thing: while they might conceal information on many matters, they would never lie.
So, the monk in front of them said that they were only correcting the problems of certain individuals, so the crackdown would not be extended to the entire Legion. They said they were not coming with punishment, so it basically had nothing to do with the Primarch. This made Tarvitz and the others feel relieved. They really wanted to correct the problems, but they were afraid that the Emperor's punishment would fall on the Legion and the Primarch!
"I, Tarvitz, and the officers and soldiers of the legion are willing to obey your orders and cooperate with your actions." Tarvitz's attitude was very humble. After all, the former had already revealed his identity, and he did not have the order of the Primarch. Then, according to the laws and conventions of the Empire, the monk had the supreme command of this army at this time.
