Chapter 5 Walking with the Badger

Ms. Maxim straightened her burly and tall body, her handsome head touched the chandelier full of candles, her chest in black clothes heaved violently.

"What's the matter, Dumbledore?" Madame Maxime asked, putting her hand on Paulina's shoulder.

Paulina felt a pang of resentment inside, she was angry. ———This is a Hogwarts conspiracy, they will have two warriors! She yelled in her heart.

"He's got a chance to compete, hasn't he? We've been hoping for weeks that we'd be chosen to honor our school! And there's a thousand galleons to go—a chance many would die for!" Polina angrily whispered to Madame Maxime.

"Stop losing your temper, Paulina, I will give you justice." Ms. Maxim patted her forehead reassuringly, and then said seriously, "Let the children go aside first——wait What do you think, Karkaroff, Dumbledore, after we've discussed the matter?"

"It's a good idea." Dumbledore said, but Karkaroff was a little dissatisfied. He opened his mouth to refute but was stopped by Ms. Maxim, "Then let's do it like this——Karkaroff, what do you have? Opinion?"

"No...no..." Karkaroff smiled sheepishly and then closed his mouth.

Dumbledore waved his wand, and a secret door in the room opened, and he made an inviting gesture to Karkaroff and Ms. Maxim.

Then he waved his wand again, and delicate and lovely desserts appeared on the mantelpiece.

"You can communicate with each other first, after all, friendship comes first." Dumbledore said kindly, and Paulina suddenly lost her temper with Hogwarts -- what a kind old man, what a great one An old man, whose heart is as open as the sun, no one can speculate on him with such dark thoughts--Paolina felt a pang of shame.

Paulina sighed, then said, "So, Potter, what are you still doing standing there? Why don't you join us for refreshments?"

She looked at the bewildered, sweating boy almost in pity.

"Okay...Okay." Potter walked towards them stiffly with his hands and feet moving.

"Don't worry, Ms. Maxim will definitely not let you participate if you are under 17 years old." Paulina said, after all, Potter was terrified.Of course, she also had a slightly mocking tone, because she was still wondering if the boy put the parchment in by himself?

Potter exhaled, then smiled shyly, "That's... the best."

Then the air fell silent, and Paulina was in this awkward atmosphere with a toothache.

"Do you think it's soundproof?" Paulina said half-jokingly. "It's amazing they didn't get into a row."

"They must have put a Soundproofing Charm on it—the milk cookie is good," said Digory, and handing Paulina a plate of golden cookies,

Paulina took a few pieces and thanked her, she lay on the couch looking at the roof and asked, "but seriously, didn't you just throw the note in there yourself? Or ask the seniors to help you or something ?”

"I didn't!" Harry looked at her sensitively and shouted, "Why would I do such a dangerous thing?" He looked very angry, his nose was exaggeratedly distended, his face was as red as his neck and sweaty.

"For example...well, a thousand gold Galleons." Polina said hesitantly, "Many people are coveting the prizes of the Triwizard Tournament, aren't they?"

"But there must be life flowers, right? And I don't care about these Galleons at all." Potter said with a sneer.

Polina was offended by the sneer, she stood up and stared at Harry and said, "Well, it seems that our Mr. Saviour's family is—— extremely rich, so guess again, he What kind of purpose did he take the risk to participate in the hegemony competition?—Maybe it is to make himself more famous and win the attention of the girl he loves?"

"Okay Paulina, come on." Cedric stopped Paulina's little speech, handing her plates of pastries, hoping that by doing so he would stop her mouth from moving.

Paulina gave Potter a final look and closed her mouth resignedly.

The room was quiet again, and Paulina curled up on a sofa gnawing some snacks, while Cedric happily fed them.

Potter sat on the other side clenched his fists, and he looked at Paulina sheepishly—that was the first person to show him kindness, and he had clearly annoyed her.

"I'm sorry, McCartney," Potter whispered, but loud enough for Paulina to hear, "I'm sorry for how I treated you just now."

Paulina paused slightly as she put the biscuit into her mouth, and she said with some embarrassment, "It's okay Potter, I've forgiven you when you said that."

It sucks to fight with kids.Paulina thought.

Ms. Maxim stepped out of the secret room angrily, while Karkaroff stared at Potter with a very resentful expression and walked out slowly.

"We can't disqualify Harry from the competition." Bagman said excitedly, and he squeezed in front of the four warriors with cheerful steps.

"Okay, let's start coaching the warriors now." Bagman rubbed his hands, and looked at everyone in the room with a smile, "Do you want to guide our warriors? Batty is up to you."

Mr. Crouch seemed to have just woken up from his contemplation.

"Okay," he said, "direction... yes, first project..."

He took a few steps forward, into the circle of fire. From close up, Paulina thought he looked very haggard, with two deep shadows under his eyes, and his wrinkled skin was paper-white and transparent.

"The first item is to test your courage, so we are not going to tell you what it is. Dare to face the unknown is an important quality of a wizard."

“第1个项目将于11月24日进行,当着其他同学和裁判团的面完成。在完成比赛项目时不得请求或接受其老师的帮助。勇士面临对第1个挑战时,手里唯一的武器就是自己的魔杖。第1个项目结束后他们才会了解到第2个项目的情况。”

Mr. Crouch turned to Karkaroff, Ms. Maxime and Dumbledore and said, "That's all, I suppose?"

Dumbledore nodded, and then looked at everyone gently, "How about it, how about a drink before going to bed? This can maintain the quality of our sleep."

Madame Maxime, however, put her arm around Paulina's shoulders and led her quickly out of the room.

"It's heartbreaking." Ms. Maxim said quickly in French, "The Triwizard Tournament has become unfair. I don't think we need to participate next time."

"Maybe," Paulina said, "but this time I'll try to win."

Ms. Maxim patted her on the shoulder tenderly, "What a good boy——but the competition is indeed dangerous, you must pay attention to safety, you know, dear."

"I understand," said Paulina.

"It's really shocking." Fleur said angrily, "Hogwarts still has a warrior—if that's the case, they might as well let everyone participate!"

"The Goblet of Fire is fair." Anna Lita justified Hogwarts' name, "and that's Dumbledore! He didn't need to operate in secret——and Harry Potter, he himself said he didn't know about it thing!"

Fleur looked at her in disbelief, as if Annarita had said something outrageous, "If that's the case, you might as well go to Hogwarts." Fleur said sarcastically, "There is a traitor out of Beauxbatons, ha, it's ridiculous!"

Annarita stared at Fleur not to be outdone, "I'm just stating the facts!" She blushed and said excitedly.

But the only response to her was Fu Rong's breathy voice.

Paulina believed that this was not Dumbledore's conspiracy, but she also suspected that Potter himself had done something out of line, so she didn't know how to persuade her, so she could only say weakly, "Stop arguing, or I will Just hang you on top of the Ravenclaw tower."

Fleur and Analita immediately closed their mouths and shrank into the bed.

"You need to attend classes with the students of Hogwarts." Ms. Maxime stood in front of Paulina and the others and said, "but you can choose which house to attend classes with—or you can go to their lounge Rest, but one thing must be stated, you must also abide by the Hogwarts school rules and you must go back to the carriage to sleep every night."

Some students sighed regretfully, but they immediately shut their mouths after Ms. Maxim's serious eyes swept over.

"Great," Paulina whispered in her friends' ears, "I'll be in class with Cedric soon."

"That handsome guy?!" Analita said excitedly, "You can already call him by his Christian name?"

"You can't get that close to Diggory!" said Fleur seriously. "That's your enemy—the enemy of Beauxbatons."

"Oh please, Fleur," said Paulina, "for Merlin's sake, I just wanted to flirt with him."

"Professor Sprout, hello." Paulina squeezed her schoolbag and walked into Professor Sprout's office, "I would like to have a class with the Hufflepuffs during the Triwizard Tournament -- what do you think? Can I, or what should I do to prepare...?"

"Son, you don't have to make any preparations." Professor Sprout looked at her kindly, "Hufflepuffs are very lenient—I noticed that you were with Cedric and Summer on the first night. Are they sitting together? I'm sure you'll have a great time with us."

"Thank you, Professor," said Paulina, "but I don't know the way to the classroom and I haven't prepared a textbook—what should I do?"

"Don't worry, Hogwarts will prepare for you in a unified way—— Beauxbaton only needs to follow herb classes, spell classes, protection of magical animals and transformation classes." Professor Sprout said, "Okay boy, if you don't know the way, you can ask the prefect to take you there—how about Cedric? His electives almost overlap with yours."

"Thank you very much." Paulina smiled with satisfaction.
