Super God Academy: Kabuto
Chapter 48 Arrival
The command center of the Solar System's Gluttonous flagship, the "Abyss."
A deep blue holographic star map slowly rotated in the center of the circular conference hall, illuminating rows of Taotie high-ranking officers with cold, metallic gleams around them. Their massive mechanical bodies were fixed in their seats, their scarlet electronic eyes flickering erratically, and the entire space was filled with a repressive and anxious atmosphere.
The Gluttonous King roared, his enormous and ferocious body, modified countless times through mechanical means, seated in the main seat. His cold, synthesized voice echoed throughout the conference room, devoid of any emotion, yet conveying a profound sense of powerlessness:
"The situation is clear: Earth is now protected by the gods." His mechanical finger pointed to the blue planet on the star map. "Our proud fleet is utterly vulnerable before true divine power. Our only strategy right now is to wait... wait for Morgana to defeat the gods who protect Earth for us."
Mentioning Morgana elicited a burst of suppressed laughter and chatter from the audience, accompanied by a cacophony of static.
The howling beast's massive metal head turned towards the direction from which the noise originated, its scarlet electronic eyes sweeping across the entire area, and an invisible pressure instantly silenced all the noise.
"Don't think of Morgana as so simple." His voice suddenly turned stern, carrying a warning tone. "She is my god Karl's former 'friend'!" He deliberately emphasized the words "former friend," reminding all the Taotie present that the Death God they regarded as their supreme faith had an ancient and complex connection with this Demon King that they could not understand.
"In her eyes, we might just be pawns, or even less than pawns." The howling voice regained its cold calm, but the sense of humiliation it contained lingered. "So, stop your ignorant mockery. Our current passivity stems from our own weakness."
His massive mechanical fist slowly clenched, producing a harsh metallic scraping sound. Finally, he cast his gaze into the depths of the star map, as if staring at the Death Song Academy far away on the River Styx.
All we can do now is wait and pray...
For the first time, his synthesized voice carried an almost devout longing:
"Wait for my god Karl, who will grant us...greater power!"
A deathly silence fell over the conference room. All the Taotie officers' electronic eyes were looking in the same direction, a mixture of anger at their current predicament, a thirst for power, and a humble hope for the final blessing from that phantom god.
Earth-Giant Gorge Command Center
A high-level international video conference concerning the fate of the planet is underway. The faces of representatives from various countries appear on a giant circular screen, their expressions solemn.
Just then, an intelligence officer strode up to General Dukao and whispered a few words of report. Dukao frowned, turned to the delegates, and spoke in a deep, firm voice:
"Gentlemen, we have just confirmed an extremely serious piece of intelligence." He gestured to the technician to project the image onto the main screen. "Starting two months ago, our deep space observatory discovered that the outer reaches of the solar system are being slowly surrounded by countless unidentified 'black dots'."
The screen displayed blurry photos taken by the space station, where the black dots had been arranged into well-structured, technologically advanced mechanical arrays in the starry sky.
"Based on the analysis of the existing images, we speculate that this is still a large space fleet," Dukao pointed to the images. "What's disturbing is that they haven't been aggressively advancing, but have been calmly deploying their forces. With our current reconnaissance methods, we simply cannot effectively detect the details of that distance; we can only rely on these limited space station photos to make our judgment."
He paused, then dropped an even more astonishing number:
"More importantly, there's the sheer number. In the previous Tianhe City battle, the enemy only deployed three vanguard flagships, and globally, there were only seven similar-sized invading ships. But this time…" His finger slammed down on the chilling black dots on the screen, "We can already observe over two hundred!"
On the circular screen, a general from another major power couldn't help but speak, his voice filled with disbelief: "Such a massive fleet, yet it's lingering outside the solar system... What are they afraid of?" His gaze swept over Dukao, a hint of hope in his eyes, "The Super Soldier Corps?"
"Not entirely." Dukao calmly dismissed the conjecture. "The Huangcun incident and subsequent intelligence indicate that what they fear is not just the Super Soldier Corps." He pulled up new data. "More likely, it's Morgana, known as the 'Demon Queen,' and... another being."
He pointed to a symbol marked as extremely dangerous:
"Morgana is an extremely evil organization in the known universe that spreads extreme ideas of depravity and freedom, and is extremely hostile to the 'just' order advocated by our angelic allies."
"And the other one?" another representative asked eagerly.
"The other one's attitude is still unclear." Dukao switched the screen to show a blurry figure in red armor, "but judging from his actions so far, he is at least on Earth's side. We... have tried to contact and win him over."
A European general, his face pale, concluded: "So, Earth is currently facing threats from at least two cosmic-level powers simultaneously? One clearly hostile, and the other... with an ambiguous stance?"
In the video window, an official representing a major power interrupted urgently, his voice tinged with obvious anxiety: "You must actively find a solution! You are fortunate to have super soldiers like the Super Soldier Corps! Our 'Alliance of Haters'... is suffering heavy losses from a precise attack by an unknown force!"
When faced with criticism, Dukao responded in a deep voice: "The Super Soldier Corps also has its own problems."
An elderly general standing beside him explained to the delegates on his behalf, his tone filled with worry: "Currently, the core combat force of the Super Soldier Squad, Sunlight Lena, her emotions and condition... are extremely unstable."
The old general used an extremely precise and chilling metaphor:
"That child is now in a state of 'one thought to heaven, one thought to hell'."
Inside and outside the conference room, a heavy, suffocating pressure hung in the air, as if it were a tangible force. Hundreds of alien warships loomed menacingly outside, while demons raged and super soldiers were in unstable condition inside. Earth's fate seemed to hang on a thread about to snap.
