Chapter 91 Let's smash up the military district and the White House
Li En crashed down from mid-air, landing on the yellow mud ground, sending dust billowing in all directions.
He bent his knees, maintaining a squatting position on the ground, which was slightly dented by his feet.
He casually waved his hand to disperse the dust in front of him, stepped out of the smoke, and glanced around.
Their gaze first fell on the unrecognizable remains of the soldiers, then shifted to the still-smoking wreckage of the armed helicopter.
The cabin was smashed flat, metal fragments were scattered all over the ground, and the fuel tank was still burning, with the flames flickering on the muddy ground.
He withdrew his gaze, walked to Hulk, and stood about three meters away.
He raised his head, a smile on his face, and extended his right hand to the other person.
"Hulk, long time no see."
In response, Hulk suddenly spread his arms wide and let out a deafening roar at him.
The roar, accompanied by a burst of air, shot out of his mouth, pushing Li En's hair back and making his collar stick tightly to his neck, fluttering loudly.
Li En reached out and pulled her hair back, straightening her collar which had been blown askew, without backing away.
He looked at Hulk's eyes, wide with anger, but the curve of his lips remained unchanged.
"I know you're angry." His voice was low and his tone was calm. "Right now, I'm angry too."
As soon as he finished speaking, his smile vanished.
There was no sneer, no anger; all expressions vanished from his face in an instant.
A chilling aura emanated from him, and the surrounding air seemed to have been cooled down.
Hulk stopped roaring.
He straightened up, closed his mouth, and looked down at the person in front of him.
The appearance of the Hulk signifies that Banner's mind is in a state of extreme anger.
This kind of anger has no limit; it only accumulates layer by layer.
But once his anger subsides, he naturally reverts to being the bespectacled physicist he always was.
Now, standing before Li En, the anger that had been burning so fiercely within him could no longer rise.
I can't say why.
Perhaps it's because the other person named him Hulk, not Banner.
Perhaps it's because the other party never treated him as an abnormal situation that needed to be addressed.
Instead, she stood in front of him from the very beginning, called his name, and spoke to him.
In short, he didn't really want to tear this man to pieces.
Li En took two more steps forward, walked directly in front of Hulk, looked up, and met his eyes.
"Hulk, I know why you're angry." His tone remained unchanged, still the same as stating a fact.
"You're angry because those guys are so weak, yet they still dared to come and attack you."
Hulk thought about the sentence in his mind, then looked up at the sky and let out a short, loud roar, as if to say: That's right!
Li En caught his gaze and continued speaking.
"That's because the Banner inside you is an honest person."
Upon hearing the name Banner, Hulk frowned, his lips parted slightly, revealing a set of teeth.
"And honest people are always bullied with guns pointed at them."
Hulk lowered his head, his green eyes still holding anger, but with an added layer of thought.
Li En paused for a moment, then moved the topic a step further.
"What can we do to stop these overconfident fools from bullying honest people like us?"
Hulk lowered his head further, bringing his gaze even closer to Lee's.
He didn't yell; instead, he exhaled two thick puffs of hot air from his nostrils, and his eyes became serious.
He is indeed thinking about this issue.
Li En raised his right hand from his side, clenched his fist, and held it above his head.
"The method is actually very simple."
Hulk stared at the fist.
The fist cast a small shadow in the sunlight, landing squarely on his chest.
"A single punch can prevent a hundred more." Li En enuttered each word clearly and deliberately.
"It's the same thing you're doing now, but you've chosen the wrong target."
He retracted his fist and pointed his thumb behind him.
"No matter how many soldiers you kill, those high-ranking guys won't care. They'll just sign the report and bring in another batch from the reserves."
"The more you kill, the more they see it as a threat that must be dealt with, and then they send more soldiers to their deaths."
"The soldiers died, the taxpayers paid, and the guys sitting in the middle signing didn't even get a scratch."
His voice remained calm throughout, without raising it.
"So you can't hit their weak points."
"To make those high and mighty people understand that we are not to be trifled with, we have to punch them in the places they really care about."
He pointed his thumb behind him again, this time deliberately tilting it slightly to the southeast.
"In this country, they have a great deal of superstition about their army."
"The proportion of military spending in the federal budget is increasing every year. The equipment piled up in the warehouse of any overseas base is enough to feed everyone in Hell's Kitchen for several years."
"They used the army as their shield and their scepter."
Li En withdrew his arm, looked up at Hulk's face again, and grinned.
"So, why don't we start from the Brooklyn military base, then move down to the military base in New Jersey, and then down to Virginia?"
"Finally—destroy the White House."
Hulk paused for a moment.
He kept his head down, his lips moving silently. He had all these words; they were all stored in Banner's mind. However, under normal circumstances, he never accessed this part of his memory.
Anger burns away most of his reason; the angrier he gets, the less intelligence he has left.
But now, standing in front of Li En, his anger was not so intense.
Those suppressed rational thoughts resurfaced slightly.
He understood what Li En meant.
Hulk grinned, and two puffs of hot air shot out from his nostrils, leaving a small, shallow dent in the ground.
Li Enchao tilted his chin slightly in the direction his thumb had been pointing.
"Our first stop was the Brooklyn military base, where we smashed everything of value inside."
"Tanks, helicopters, ammunition depots, radar arrays, command centers—leave none of them behind."
"These pieces of equipment are worth a lot of money; those few Apache helicopters alone are enough to buy several laundry factories."
"It will make them so heartbroken they can't sleep."
He reached out his hand to Hulk again.
"Your running explosiveness is extremely strong. It's about seven kilometers from here to Brooklyn. Once you get going, your speed can easily keep up with the trajectory of a cannonball."
"Like this—you throw me in that direction, and then you catch up."
"Once it lands, smash it right in, and we'll demolish that place together."
Hulk thought for a moment and then lowered his right leg.
The moment his knees bent, the soil on the ground sank a bit deeper.
He stretched out his hands, his huge palms open, facing the sky.
The area of two palms put together is large enough for an adult to stand on.
Li En straddled his palm, the soles of his shoes pressing against his rough, green skin.
He bent his knees slightly to steady himself, then nodded to Hulk.
Hulk slowly raised his hands to shoulder height, his arm muscles bulging, brimming with power.
He stomped forward with his right foot, and the ground cracked the moment his foot landed.
The cracks extended in all directions, and chunks of mud and gravel bounced off the edges of the cracks, shattering into pieces while suspended in mid-air.
A shockwave erupted from the spot where the foot landed, sending dust billowing outwards.
Using the recoil from his stomp, he swung both hands sharply toward the Brooklyn military district.
Li En was flung out of his palm.
The air exploded in Li En's ears.
His body was stretched into a straight line in mid-air, his clothes clung tightly to his body by the wind pressure, and the hem of his clothes was pulled straight back.
The buildings and streets on both sides were stretched into blurry bands of color in his field of vision. He adjusted the angle of his shoulders and neck to control his balance.
Below, Hulk bent his knees and roared to the sky.
"Hulk!"
He stomped his legs hard on the ground.
A loud bang.
The spot where he had just been standing had been blasted open, creating a crater several meters in diameter, with dirt and rubble gushing into the sky like a fountain.
He transformed into a green bullet, chasing after the trajectory of Li En's projectile, moving faster than Li En and tearing a muffled sonic boom through the air.
Two figures, one after the other, soared into the air towards Brooklyn.
On the wasteland, Frank, who was wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth while leaning against the wall, watched as Lee was thrown away by Hulk like a cannonball, and remained silent for a moment.
He patted his stomach, stood up from the ground, scratched the back of his head, and walked towards the teaching building.
As they approached the entrance of the laboratory building, they bumped into Connors and Melinda as they came out, along with General Ross, who stood at the door with a livid expression.
Connors glanced at the wasteland behind Frank and saw only a deep pit that was smoking and scattered debris.
Hulk is gone, and Lee is gone too.
He turned to Frank and asked, his tone full of confusion.
Where did they go?
Frank pursed his lips.
"As Li En just said, he's going to take Hulk to the Brooklyn military base, then to the New Jersey military base, and then to the Virginia military base."
"Finally, we entered Washington—and stormed the White House."
He kept his eyes on Ross as he spoke, pronouncing each place name clearly.
After he finished speaking, he paused for a moment, and the corners of his mouth twitched upwards.
"You know better than anyone that the troops stationed at your military bases can't stop the Hulk."
"The equipment in these bases combined is worth at least a trillion."
"If everything is smashed to pieces, will you still be able to continue being a general?"
"Oh, by the way, Hulk was something you created in your lab, shouldn't you also take some responsibility?"
Ross's face had turned completely ashen.
Without looking at Frank, he reached into his pocket, pulled out a button about the size of a remote control, and pressed it.
Then he took out his phone from another pocket, quickly swiped his fingers across the screen, and dialed a number.
After the call connected, he roared angrily.
"Brooklyn Military Base, immediately go on high alert, and notify all air units to scramble and intercept."
"The target is a large green creature, nearly three meters tall, with an unknown weight, and a ballistic missile-level speed of movement."
"Stop them! Stop them at all costs!"
He hung up the phone, breathing heavily, and the veins on his forehead were throbbing quite noticeably.
Connors stood to the side, took out his glasses from his pocket and put them on, but found he couldn't see clearly, so he took them off again and spoke in a very indifferent tone.
"It's no use, none of you can stop Banner."
Ross turned his head and stared at him.
Connors didn't meet Ross's gaze. Instead, he lowered his head, examined his newly grown right hand, and slowly moved his fingers, making a few cracking sounds from his knuckles.
"We have been monitoring Banner's physical condition during this period."
"The latest data model has been developed, and the conclusion is clear: none of the existing military equipment can kill him."
"Conventional guns can't penetrate the skin, rockets can't even burn a hair, and electromagnetic weapons can only cause paralysis for a fraction of a second."
""
"Even if you drop a nuclear bomb on him, it won't make any difference."
"His cells will undergo protective fission the instant they suffer a fatal blow, dividing at a rate far exceeding the speed of the attack, so he won't die."
"The only way is to keep him calm and prevent him from turning into that big green guy—the Hulk."
"But you insisted on using guns to seize his research results, provoking him to anger."
After he finished speaking, he looked up at Ross, his tone tinged with a hint of confusion: "Speaking of which, why is Lee able to act alongside Hulk?"
Frank smirked and shrugged.
"Aren't madmen and monsters a perfect match?"
Ross stood still and didn't make another call.
He looked southeast, where the two figures in the sky had long since disappeared behind the clouds, leaving only the shattered cloud trails that were slowly spreading.
While Ross was disabling the regional signal interference, Melinda dialed Nick Fury's encrypted channel.
She reported the situation on the scene in the shortest possible sentences.
There was a two-second silence on the other end of the line.
Then Fury's voice came back, faster than usual and lower in volume.
"Understood. From now on, you don't need to hide anything anymore. Take direct control of the school's security. I will arrange follow-up support."
He hung up the call, walked through the corridor, pushed open a blast-proof door that required triple authentication, and entered an unmarked room.
Nick Fury spoke quickly: "Connect me to the President of the United States."
