What do you mean you also want to return to the world?

Chapter 11: Beware of talking monsters!

Shi Yan had no idea what Qi Fei had done, causing his vision to suddenly go black, as if he had entered a dark abyss. Of course, this state only lasted for a moment. The next second, a sudden burst of flames tore through the darkness, turning the entire world into a crimson expanse.

In the center of that crimson expanse was a colossal creature with wings. It resembled a crane, an eagle, and even more so, the legendary phoenix.

Flames surrounded it, like a feathered robe.

Is this Scarlet?

Shi Yan was very surprised, but before he could ask any questions, dozens of snake-like chains shot out from the darkness and bound Scarlet in an instant.

"court death!"

The crimson, furious voice exploded in Shi Yan's mind. She immediately twisted her massive body, trying to shatter the chains.

At the same time, Qi Fei's voice came from the depths of the darkness: "Don't just look, this is your own body."

Shi Yan immediately realized that Qi Fei was helping him suppress the crimson.

"What should I do?" Shi Yan asked immediately.

"Focus your attention on those chains," Qi Fei said. "Imagine them as part of your body, then just drag this guy down with all your might."

Imagine the chains as part of your body, is that even possible?

Shi Yan felt something was off, but he did as instructed anyway.

Then he found it much easier than he had imagined; when he focused his attention on the chains, they actually responded. With just a slight shift in his mind, the chains seemed to gain even greater power, dragging Crimson directly towards the abyss.

Even though Scarlet struggled desperately, it was all in vain.

But Scarlet also realized something, and suddenly turned her head, staring intently in the direction where Shi Yan was.

"Why!" she roared angrily, "Why should I help an outsider?!"

What the hell is this "outsider"?! Shouldn't you be the real outsider?!

Before Shi Yan could answer Fei Hong, she plunged into the abyss, leaving not a single spark, and the world returned to darkness once more.

"Alright, open your eyes." Qi Fei's voice rang out again.

Shi Yan opened his eyes and found himself standing there unharmed; everything that had happened before seemed to be just an illusion.

But unlike before, he was now wearing a black glove on his left hand.

"What's this?" Shi Yan looked at Qi Fei.

"You can think of it as a suppressor," Qi Fei tapped his head with his finger. "Haven't you noticed how much quieter it is here?"

Shi Yan was slightly taken aback, then suddenly came to his senses.

Oh yeah, Crimson has fallen silent! Could she be dead?

"You...you...head..."

Before Shi Yan could even feel happy, Fei Hong's voice rang out again, but it was much weaker than before, like the buzzing of a mosquito.

"I...am...immortal...and I...will...remember...this...grudge..."

After saying that, he fell completely silent.

What's going on here?

"There's still sound?" Qi Fei noticed Shi Yan's expression and shrugged. "Then the monster inside you is quite energetic. This suppressor can't completely block its influence on you, but it will greatly weaken it, at least allowing you to live a normal life. As for that meaningless noise, just think of it as tinnitus once the sound is quiet."

Shi Yan understood; this meant that they had put a gag on Fei Hong to make it more difficult for her to speak.

Hmm... it's not necessarily a bad thing, at least it would keep that guy from being so noisy.

But what exactly is meaningless noise?

Shi Yan was somewhat puzzled.

Although most of what Scarlet says is nonsense, it can't be considered meaningless noise, right?

Could it be that……

Shi Yan's mind raced, and he immediately asked, "Does everyone hear the same demonic voice?"

"More or less." Qi Fei nodded slightly. "Most of these monsters have been dead for many years. The remaining bodies and souls are mostly just remnants of their lives. Some of them still have consciousness, while others do not. However, because their souls are too weak, they are basically unable to communicate with words. They can only roar like wild beasts or repeat certain syllables and characters."

"I see."

Shi Yan nodded calmly on the surface, but a huge wave of emotions was rising in his heart.

What does it mean that the vast majority of monsters cannot communicate with words and can only utter meaningless syllables?

What is this guy inside me who was just yelling to teach me a lesson and that he would "return to the world and kill all the traitors"?

Is she considered precocious?

Shi Yan was genuinely flustered. He knew that asking further questions might be risky, but he couldn't help but ask, "Is it possible that some monsters can communicate?"

"You've hit the nail on the head, and this is exactly what I wanted to warn you about," Qi Fei said quite seriously. "First of all, never even think about communicating with monsters. Monsters aren't human; they don't have any good intentions. And if you can clearly hear a monster's voice in your mind, be sure to report it immediately, because that means one of the two worst-case scenarios."

Which two?

"One possibility is that the demon within you is so powerful that it can disregard death and the passage of time, and still maintain a clear consciousness," Qi Fei said. "Another possibility is that you have overused the demon's power, and the demon is awakening within you, or rather, you are merging with the demon, which is why you can understand its ravings."

Shi Yan's lips twitched slightly.

"But you don't need to worry too much. You can't be in the first situation." Qi Fei laughed heartily when he saw that Shi Yan's face was a little pale. "Although the great demon inside you is a bit troublesome, and it also possesses two pieces of corpse at the same time, it's still far from the level I'm talking about. In fact, a great demon of that level is extremely rare, and it could kill you the moment it entered your body. Aren't you alive and well now?"

Qi Fei paused for a moment.

"As for the second scenario, it depends on the severity. If the symptoms aren't too serious, we'll immediately find a way to sever your connection with the yokai, preventing you from using their powers anymore. We'll also take care of you for the rest of your life. How about that, not bad, right?"

Shi Yan did not speak.

Qi Fei chuckled: "If it gets worse, then it'll be more troublesome. You'll either end up in a mental hospital, or..."

He didn't continue speaking, but instead patted Shi Yan on the shoulder, and Shi Yan already understood what he meant.

However, Shi Yan didn't care about the second scenario Qi Fei mentioned; he was more concerned about the first one.

According to Qi Fei, they have confirmed Crimson's power and believe that Crimson is not that much of a threat.

But Scarlet can clearly communicate with him normally, which perfectly meets their standard of being "very strong".

Moreover, Qi Fei didn't mention the other great demon at all, but he knew about the existence of another body part... How is that possible?

Shi Yan sensed something was wrong, but before seeking clarification, he asked, "If the first scenario really occurred, and you weren't killed by that great demon, then what would you do...?"

Qi Fei shrugged: "Then we'll have no choice but to kill him ourselves."
