A certain Hogwarts professor of runes

Chapter 26: Battles with Commentary

Professor Hyp presents a completely different face when facing fifth and seventh graders.

He waved his wand and handed out test papers to the students, which were their test papers from the last class.

Felix stood on the stage without speaking, but a low pressure already enveloped the young wizards.

They were both seventh graders and had shared three years of "classmate friendship" with the professor, especially when they first enrolled; Felix was in fifth grade that year.

What did he do in fifth grade?

Well, it was just a challenge to a duel against a certain Shafik family, so these students witnessed someone's most ruthless side as soon as they entered the school, leaving them with serious psychological trauma.

To the naive and innocent first-year students, was that a duel invitation? No, it was a death sentence! The kind that the whole family sends together.

Felix toyed with his wand, and seeing that the atmosphere had built up enough, he finally spoke, "These are your test results from last class. To be honest, I'm a little disappointed, quite disappointed..."

"Marcus!"

Marcus Flint stood up shakily. "Professor... Professor." Felix might not remember him, but he remembered Felix clearly because "Shafik" had been sitting next to him.

As a fellow pureblood, his father had even asked that senior to take care of him, but he ran into a major disaster right after the start of the semester.

He still can't forget the image of that spirited senior collapsing to the ground.

Felix walked up to him, patted him on the shoulder, and said, "Your grades have been a bit poor. Do your best in the future. I have high hopes for you."

"Yes... Professor."

What else could Marcus say? He should go back and study like crazy!

Felix was very satisfied with the Slytherin's attitude; after all, it was his own house, and he was quite helpful.

"Let's begin class. There's a lot of material to cover today, so I'll get straight to it. When you get home, do these three practice tests."

"After all, your NEWTS exam is this year..."

……

Saturday, Gryffindor common room.

Percy looked exhausted. He had just finished his twelve-inch history of magic paper, "The History and Innovation of the Cauldron," but he still had assignments for six other subjects to complete—he had far too many courses to choose from.

Damn it, at this rate we won't even have time for dates!

Hermione walked out of the girls' dormitory carrying a large book and saw Harry and Ron sitting around a table with seven or eight young wizards nearby, seemingly looking at something interesting.

She walked over, and there were the Weasley twins, who were actually directing two magical puppets to dance with their wands.

She recognized the two puppets; they were the same two that Professor Hyp had shown in his open lecture.

Accompanied by silent music (no music at all), a man and a woman, each about half a foot tall, embraced each other and danced gracefully across the tabletop—this was their dance floor.

Lee Jordan was narrating the "plot": "And so, Fire Man and Ice Woman fell in love, and the young couple became the envy of everyone. But their happiness didn't last long; their beliefs clashed severely, so they ended up fighting!"

Fred and George joined in his explanation, with Fred waving his wand first, and the Ice Maiden kicking the Fire Man in the face.

"Oh! The Ice Maiden got the first move, kicking her former lover two feet away. Has all their vows of eternal love vanished just like that?" Lee Jordan cried out in anguish.

Not to be outdone, George shook his wand repeatedly, and the fire man suddenly jumped up, punching the ice woman hard in the stomach, then kicking her far away.

"Finally, Fire Man stopped hesitating; love couldn't compare to a clash of ideologies! He had to act, he moved, he finally made his move! Beautiful!"

A little witch who was watching spat.

Hermione watched in stunned silence. "You guys really know how to play this game, there's even a storyline involved."

A few minutes later, Fire Man gained an advantage with a series of rapid punches, and then launched a flying kick, but suddenly crashed down in mid-air.

Then, the Ice Maiden also stopped moving.

"No power! No power!" Dean Thomas, who grew up in the Muggle world, uttered words that didn't make sense.

Fred and George grabbed the puppet and ran to a corner to begin re-engraving the ancient runes.

"Professor Hyp is really awful! Replenishing a rune only allows me to play for half an hour." Many young wizards complained about a certain professor.

The crowd dispersed, and Hermione and her two companions found a new place to sit.

Hermione glanced at the twins in the distance. "They've already reached this level?"

"That's nothing. Many wizards spend a lot of time on this," Ron explained. "Fred said that Cedric of Hufflepuff often gets up in the middle of the night to practice secretly, all in order to win the mystery prize in the exam before Halloween."

"And quite a few witches, clinging to their magical puppets all day long."

Hermione nodded. Indeed, she'd seen little wizards carrying magical puppets everywhere this week. "But Fred's magical puppet isn't this one, is it?"

Ron casually remarked, "He borrowed it from Angelina to recreate that classic battle in the Great Hall. But if you ask me, they're still a bit lacking. I mean, they've only just finished learning the first set of runes, and they need to master four sets, like collecting Chocolate Frog cards, piecing all the techniques together to form a complete set..."

"Harry, you didn't have practice today?"

Harry grimaced. "Training is in the afternoon." Although only two weeks had passed, he was already feeling the strain.

Ron suddenly chuckled, glanced at Harry and Hermione, and whispered, "It's said that Wood has been struggling with how to do his Ancient Runes homework, and thanks to Professor Heap, Harry was able to have a relaxing day."

"Is the homework very difficult?" Hermione guessed.

"No," Ron said, suppressing a laugh, "but this professor's sixth-grade assignment wasn't translation, but a 1,000-word essay titled 'My Summer Vacation.'"

Hermione felt a strange sense of familiarity.

This style seems to have been common when she was in elementary school...

Professor Hyp was also a Muggle, so he certainly had a lot of life experience, Hermione thought.

As the three were chatting, Percy suddenly stood up, quickly packed his things, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and left without looking back.

It's time for my date!

Watching Percy's retreating figure, Harry mused, "He looks a little agitated."

Ron shrugged. "Percy took too many courses. He passed 12 OWLs and wanted to take another 12 this year, but Professor McGonagall persuaded him to drop some."

The two were somewhat moved, and then looked at Hermione in unison. Could this be what Hermione would look like in the future?

Hermione ignored the two and sat down to read.

Harry glanced at Hermione's book, *Ancient Rune History*, and couldn't help but ask, "Didn't you pass the test? Why are you still reading this book?"

Hermione turned a page. "Professor Hyp left a bunch of annotations on my paper, all pointing out things I should pay attention to. And I've found that ancient runes are quite interesting."

"That's quite interesting..."

The two academically challenged students looked at each other in bewilderment. Every time they discussed academic problems with Hermione, they felt like the thing around their necks was a pumpkin that Hagrid had planted in the ground.

So they started playing Wizard's Chess by themselves.

In the afternoon, Wood led the team out of the common room. Harry wanted to ask about his ancient runes homework, but then he remembered that even the end of the world couldn't stop his enthusiasm for training, so he kept quiet.

On the way, they ran into Colin Crevey, who, like a clingy person, greeted them enthusiastically again, "Hello! Harry!" Harry replied listlessly, "Hello, Colin too."

He had already anticipated that the upcoming training sessions would inevitably be accompanied by countless flashes and shutter sounds.

Inside the castle, Ron was a little bored and could only do his homework.

He stared blankly at the parchment for a long time, and finally folded it into a paper airplane. The paper airplane hit Neville in the nose, making him cry out in pain.

In the evening, after dinner, Hermione went to Felix's office to report for duty.
