Hogwarts Summoning Guide
Chapter 84 The Gryphon Championship
With the starting whistle, the final match officially began, but from the moment Slytherin captain Marcus first collided with Harry's teammate Angelina, the match was destined to be anything but elegant and peaceful.
Fred quickly avenged Angelina by slapping Marcus on the back of the head with a stick, and Ms. Hodge mercilessly awarded each team a free throw.
Bai Lin was even curious whether such blatant bumping and hitting of people was really not a concern that it would lead to a fight on the ice or disciplinary action from the school. However, it seemed that this was not uncommon in Europe, where fighting was not considered a foul in ice hockey.
On the field, after the free throws, the players from both teams engaged in even more unrestrained physical confrontations. The Slytherin players no longer focused on the Quaffle or the Lobby, but instead swarmed whichever Gryffindor player had the ball.
"They're awful!" Not only the Gryffindor students couldn't stand it, but even the commentator, Li Jordan, and Ravenclaw's Cho Chang couldn't help but feel indignant. "This is the dirtiest match I've ever seen!" Even the usually gentle and refined Cho Chang couldn't help but curse.
"They exploited Gryffindor's weakness!" Bai Lin shrugged. "They have no substitutes!"
"Yes, even if the school doctor treats him immediately, he can't go back to the game right away after falling off the broom." Catherine was also quite worried about the players on the field.
"Let's see if Harry can withstand the pressure and finish this quickly!" Bai Lin commented.
Harry and Malfoy, these two old rivals, were locked in a fierce aerial battle. Malfoy's broom was the Nimbus 2001, which, like the Firebolt, had its advantages and disadvantages. The Firebolt had more "power" and was faster, while the Nimbus 2001 was superior in stability and braking performance. Although Malfoy's personality was somewhat annoying, his flying skills were in no way inferior to Harry's. The two chased each other, neither gaining the upper hand for a time.
Even more pressured than Harry was Captain Wood, whose last year at Hogwarts. If he couldn't win spectacularly, his dream of joining a professional club would be ruined. But thanks to his numerous saves as Hogwarts' first goalkeeper, the score remained 40-10. However, this also made him a prime target for the Slytherin team. Whenever Boole and Derek had possession of the ball, they would hurl the ball at Wood, trying to knock him off his broom. They almost succeeded several times.
High in the sky, Harry was flying around the pitch, while Malfoy sped up to catch up. Finally, Harry saw the Golden Snitch flashing twenty feet above them.
Harry accelerated sharply, the wind whistling past his ears. He reached out to the Golden Snitch, feeling victory was within his grasp, but then he noticed his fire bolts were slowing down.
Harry turned around and was shocked to see Malfoy lunging at him, grabbing the end of the Firebolt and pulling him backward. Although Malfoy was panting heavily from pulling on the Firebolt, he had achieved his goal: the Golden Snitch had vanished again.
Harry felt a surge of anger, but he managed to restrain himself from using a "Dragon Tail Swing" to sweep Malfoy off the broom.
"Free throw!" Ms. Hodge shrieked, rushing forward. "Gryffindor free throw! I've never seen anything like it!"
Even Lee Jordan roared into the microphone, "Shameless scoundrel!" This time, even Professor McGonagall didn't reprimand him, but instead waved her fist at Malfoy, so excited that her hat fell off.
"I hope you learn something from your time with the fire dragon... how to leverage your strengths if the opponent is fierce..." Bai Lin murmured to himself.
There was a commotion on the court because Aria, who was in charge of the free throws, missed the target because she was too angry.
Harry glanced at Bai Lin in the stands, who was making a wing-like gesture with his hands. Harry instantly understood and a confident smile appeared on his lips.
In the following race, Harry was like a completely different person. He no longer focused on the Golden Snitch, but instead provoked Malfoy while leading him in random spins. Suddenly, he would rush towards a Slytherin player and then make a sharp turn, almost knocking Malfoy off his teammate. He even used the Golden Snitch he occasionally spotted as bait to lure Malfoy to snatch it, and then with a powerful flick of his tail, he would sweep the Golden Snitch away, making Malfoy so angry that he almost vomited blood.
Malfoy's anger gradually caused him to lose his usual flying skills, and he even forgot that in addition to the Hogwarts teachers and students, there was also a reporter and scout invited by Bai Lin through his connections with the Ministry of Magic. Although Harry did not know this, Malfoy knew it in advance, so he wanted to win so badly that he would do anything to win, even if it meant using some underhanded means.
However, his cleverness backfired. The reporter was clearly not interested in the players who had pulled Harry's broom earlier and were later tricked. Harry had already improved his flying skills in previous training and his "interactions" with the dragons at the zoo. To be honest, it was bullying to have him play against the Slytherin team in this state.
Finally, Harry had had enough fun, and his teammates were exhausted. Harry and Malfoy spotted the Golden Snitch flying to the ground, just a few feet from the grass. They both accelerated and pounced on the Snitch.
Both of them simultaneously urged their flying brooms to accelerate desperately, almost disregarding whether they would crash into the ground.
Just then, Bor launched a Blink-Ball attack, and Harry quickly flipped under the broom, dodging the attack.
Malfoy's mouth was wide enough to fit a fist, and he stretched his hand forward desperately, trying to catch the Snitch before Harry could. However, Harry had already jumped off the broom, grabbing the Snitch with one hand and blocking Malfoy's hand with the other.
Harry fell heavily onto the grass, rolling several times. Malfoy wasn't much better off, tumbling off his broom. Malfoy clearly hadn't been trained to be "thrown to the ground by a dragon," landing almost face-first. Even Bai Lin felt a pain in his nose just watching.
Harry rolled a few times on the ground to dissipate the impact of the fall, then leaped up, his right hand raised high, clutching the gleaming gold Snitch.
The stadium erupted in cheers, and countless Gryffindor students rushed onto the pitch. Wood was the first to hug Harry tightly, his eyes blurred with tears.
"Let's go, he did it! We should get busy with other things too!" Bai Lin pulled Catherine to her feet.
"Professor, aren't you going to celebrate with Harry?" Cho Chang asked, somewhat surprised.
"No need, none of his fathers play with him, so I'm too lazy to play with him either, haha..." Bai Lin glanced at Snape, who still had a poker face and whose emotions were unreadable, and shrugged.
