Hogwarts Summoning Guide
Chapter 68 The Phoenix Order's Recruitment
It was January 2nd when they returned to Hogwarts. Hagrid conducted the morning class on the protection of magical creatures on his own, and he brought over a pair of Blasttail snails for the students to try to keep.
In the original story, Hagrid was depressed for the entire semester because of Buckbeak, and he spent the whole time teaching everyone how to raise Floo Caterpie until he finally found the somewhat annoying Bombtail in his fourth year.
Influenced by Bai Lin, Hagrid quickly rallied and became somewhat "radical." He firmly believed that the Blasttails were magical and "adorable" creatures, and that observing their growth was a great project to be proud of.
Juvenile blastopods are only 6 inches (15 cm) long, resembling shelled lobsters, and are white-gray and slimy. Adult blastopods can grow to 10 feet (over 3 meters) long and are full of aggression.
Upon returning to Hogwarts, Bai Lin was immediately confronted by Hermione, who loathed the rotten smell of the Bombtail. In her words, it was "disgusting." Of course, this also summarized Harry and Ron's impression; for the first time, they shared the same opinion as Malfoy.
"Professor~" Hermione clung to Bai Lin's neck like a kitten, pleading, "Please, please let Hagrid change his animal, I'll even accept a caterpillar~" As everyone knows, Hermione is a tomboy most of the time, but today she's really going all out to get rid of the Blasttail. She's already destined to fail Divination, and she's also lost points in Potions. If she fails Protecting Magical Creatures, she'll be too ashamed to go home.
"Well~" Bai Lin looked at Harry, Ron, Neville, Dean, Lavender and others who came to find him with Hermione, as if he had seen more than a dozen free laborers.
Bai Lin said seriously, "Well, that's not impossible. I'll talk to Hagrid about it. But since you don't want to deal with Blasttail, I'll provide some more challenging magical creatures. I wonder if you have the courage to accept the challenge?"
Hermione replied decisively, "I'm okay with it! As long as it's not a Blasttail! I trust your taste, Professor!" But what does taste have to do with this?
Harry, Ron, and the others nodded in agreement. "Are you kidding? Our Gryffindor class is afraid of your magical beast challenge? Let me tell you, you've already lost the moment you uttered the word 'courage'!"
After seeing the children off, Bai Lin saw a bright red flash outside the window, and Phoenix Fox flew in through the window.
Bai Lin stood up, flattered, and raised his right arm. Fawkes gracefully landed on his arm, a note dangling from its beak. It turned out Dumbledore wanted to see him. Dumbledore was probably the only one in the world who used a phoenix as a messenger bird; that was real prestige.
Bai Lin quickly arrived at the headmaster's office. Dumbledore was still wearing his somewhat comical wizard hat, a soft silk nightgown, and his signature small glasses. He was sitting by the window, flipping through a picture book. When he saw Bai Lin come in, he gave him a kind smile.
"Please sit, Carey (nickname)," Dumbledore's tone rose, indicating he was in a good mood. "Ah, you once told me to call you Little White, is that what you call yourself in your Eastern homeland?"
Bai Lin sat down in the chair in front of Dumbledore and said, "Ha, that's what my classmates used to call me back in school, like Harry's dad was called 'Fork.' 'Little White' is a very affectionate nickname, and I use it to express my humility. But it seems like not many people really like calling me that. Is it because the pronunciation of 'Bai' is a bit awkward?"
Dumbledore smiled meaningfully, "Your actions are far from modest, ha! I'm not blaming you; on the contrary, I admire and support your decisiveness!" Dumbledore paused, then continued, "There's something more important than the form of address that I called you here today..."
Bai Lin straightened his expression and said, "Please speak."
Dumbledore asked, "What do you think of the Mystic?"
Bai Lin said, "A terrorist, an enemy of wizards. There is ample evidence that he has not completely perished. I am also very worried that he will be resurrected, which would probably bring another catastrophe to the magical world!"
Dumbledore said, "It's a Horcrux. Voldemort created the Horcruxes, which caused his soul to split into fragments. Ordinary death cannot completely kill him unless all the Horcruxes are destroyed."
Bai Lin nodded and said, "I've also studied this. I think so. I've also analyzed it. For a period of time, Voldemort went on a killing spree, even killing Muggles who were not important. It was probably to make Horcruxes, and there was more than one Horcrux."
Dumbledore's eyes showed some surprise. He hadn't expected Bai Lin to know so much about Horcruxes. Bai Lin just wanted to say that he knew where all the Horcruxes were, but he was afraid that saying it would be too abrupt. Moreover, he wanted to find the Horcruxes himself to complete the Seven Deadly Sins mission, but he wasn't 100% sure at the moment.
Dumbledore said, "Although you are Fudge's nephew, I still hope you can help me take some necessary measures to prevent the Man of Void from really returning."
Before Bai Lin could speak, he had already received a notification from the Summoning Encyclopedia System:
[Received an invitation to join the Order of the Phoenix. Agreeing will grant you the Order's mark, +5 favorability with other Order members, and +20 hatred towards Voldemort and Grindelwald. You can only join one faction at a time.]
Bai Lin pondered for a moment, then nodded firmly and said, "I'm willing to serve! I'll do my utmost!"
Dumbledore stared into Bai Lin's eyes, and soon he smiled. Fawkes the phoenix happily circled Bai Lin a few times. Dumbledore stood up and extended his right hand to Bai Lin.
Bai Lin rose and shook hands with Dumbledore, who said, "Keri, thank you for your contributions to the wizarding world. Welcome to the Order of the Phoenix!"
At this time, the Order of the Phoenix was still a fairly secretive organization. Dumbledore established the Order of the Phoenix in his early years when he was fighting against Voldemort, but most of the members of the Order of the Phoenix were killed in the first war against Voldemort in the 70s. Dumbledore had to classify the other members of the Order of the Phoenix as top secret and could only secretly find suitable candidates one by one to fill the gap in the Order of the Phoenix.
Bai Lin remained calm. After all, the name of the Order of the Phoenix was not unfamiliar to a learned wizard. Bai Lin simply asked, "Is there some important mission, Professor?"
Dumbledore gestured for Bai Lin to sit down. With a wave of his hand, a beautifully crafted plate flew over, carrying a pot of English black tea and some refreshments. Bai Lin poured two cups for him.
After they had finished their tea, Dumbledore said, "Have you ever heard of a magical creature called Mudwright?"
Bai Lin asked in surprise, "You mean the Niffler?"
