Chapter 67 The Zoo's Convenience Store

"I'll send you the quote later~" Bai Lin said to Kaka while writing furiously in his notebook.

Kaka was speechless. He glanced at what Bai Lin had written:

Coordinates 35, 65, a nest of hook-tailed giant bees, 100 Galleons;

Coordinates 36, 71, Poisonous Bush, 50 Galleons;

Coordinates 42, 80, Unicorn Anaconda, 150 Galleons... and so on.

The two spent nearly three hours exploring the island. Kaka was indeed wearing an invisibility cloak (mass-produced, contraband), while Bai Lin relied on his agility and the speed of his fire crossbow to avoid various aggressive magical creatures. At the same time, Bai Lin wrote down a list that spanned several pages.

When the two returned to the grassy area where the double gate was, Bai Lin grinned and tore off those pages, handing them to Kaka.

Kaka saw on the paper: 20% off, total 6400 Galleons, expected to be cleared in a week.

Kaka's lips twitched as he said, "Mr. Kelling, it's like this... Elder Ross's meaning is to maintain the current state of the island's creatures as much as possible, not to hunt them all down..."

Bai Lin stuffed the pen into his pocket and said, "I know, but what I wrote down were things that were more aggressive than aesthetically pleasing, and I have a lot of opinions about the floor plan you sent me."

Perhaps it was Bai Lin's formidable strength in just slaying the fire dragon that put considerable pressure on Kaka, forcing him to take Bai Lin's opinion seriously, saying, "Please speak."

Bai Lin pulled a crumpled map of the island from his back pocket and said, "I noticed you divided the island into several areas, including a magical plant area, a friendly animal area, a beast area, a fire dragon area, and so on, but there's no convenience store!"

Kaka paused for a moment, then said, "Um, Mr. Kalin, I know you come from a Muggle family... Wizards are used to bringing their own food and drinks when visiting tourist attractions..."

Bai Lin nodded and said, "Now that you mention it, it makes sense. How about this: I'll privately invest in setting up small shops in a few locations, and Elder Ross will receive 30% of the profits. What do you think?"

Kaka's eyes darted around before he said, "I will speak to Elder Ross about this on your behalf. Do you have any further comments?"

Bai Lin pointed to an empty space on the map and said, "Set up a magical animal battle zone here, with an exhibition match every day. I believe it will be quite attractive!"

Kaka's eyes lit up. "We can even accept challenges from tourists! What a brilliant idea! Mr. Kelin, you're a truly amazing person, and quite the fighter, haha!"

Kaka glanced at Bai Lin out of the corner of his eye, and Bai Lin was surprised to find a hint of feminine charm in him. He couldn't help but feel a chill, thinking to himself, "Does this kid like men?"

After returning to Paris, Kaka arranged for Bai Lin to stay at a hotel with a direct view of the Arc de Triomphe, and then left in a hurry, presumably to report to Elder Ross, the one-eyed elder.

Having just seen Kaka off, and before Bai Lin could even brew himself a pot of black tea, Zhuo Bi's voice came from the mirror beside him: "You guys really are in cahoots!"

Bai Lin looked at the mirror beside him, and sure enough, the reflection in the mirror was not his own image, but Zhuo Bi in a black trench coat.

Bai Lin waved the zoo director's contract he had just received from Kakana and said, "Look carefully, I'm their hired worker!"

Zhuo Bi was still skeptical, but Bai Lin showed him the contract page by page before he finally believed it.

Bai Lin said, "I see you're quite good at spatial magic. Why don't you join me from now on, and we'll squeeze a hefty sum out of Ross!"

Zhuo Bi looked at him suspiciously and asked, "You also have a grudge against Ross?"

Bai Lin shrugged and said, "It's stupid not to make money. Anyway, if you come with me, I'll guarantee you 10 Gallons a week, plus room and board. Want to work?"

Zhuo Bi stared at Bai Lin for a long time before finally saying, "Pay the wages first, and sign a written contract!"

Bai Lin chuckled to himself, "No problem! As long as you can help, I'll give you a raise to 20 Gallons after three months!"

Zhuobi's eyes blazed with excitement as he said, "Deal!" Even if he joined the Ministry of Magic, he would have a hard time earning a salary of 20 Galleons a week.

Bai Lin wrote with lightning speed, drafted a magical contract, signed his name, and stipulated that anyone who breached the contract would suffer the torment of the Crucifixion Curse.

Magical contracts are no joke. Once both parties sign them, the agreed-upon penalties will truly be enforced. If the other party breaches the contract, the other party can cast a Cruciatus Curse on their own copy of the contract, causing the other party to suffer excruciating pain.

Zhuo Bi stepped out of the mirror, carefully read the contract twice, and felt that some of the terms were a bit vague, such as flexible working hours, three days of vacation per month during his employment with Bai Lin, accommodation and meals arranged by Bai Lin and being on call at all times (meaning 996), being responsible for helping Bai Lin manage the Charity Street Magical Zoo and other Bai Lin's businesses and handling personal affairs (meaning both employee and nanny), and assisting Bai Lin in violent combat when necessary (meaning henchman). Such terms were written on several pages, and in general, it was a contract of servitude.

However, Zobi was quite satisfied with the salary terms. He would receive a weekly advance, 20 Galleons a week after three months, and 30 Galleons a week after one year. He happily signed his name and put his fingerprint on the document.

After Zhuo Bi signed the contract, the two magical contracts emitted a faint glow, indicating that they had taken effect.

Both men put the contract away. Zhuo Bi looked at Bai Lin, paused, and stammered, "Mr. Kelin, is there anything you need now?"

Bai Lin emptied a small pile of Galleons from his wallet and said, "I'll give you an advance on your salary for one month. Finnis will get you a room. Take a good shower and have a steak. We'll talk about work tomorrow!"

Zhuo Bi thanked them profusely and left under Phineas's guidance. Bai Lin sighed to himself, thinking how wonderful Galon and the magic contract were. If all the members of the Black Witch Society were such idiots, he was confident he could con him into building a reinforced company.

For the next few days, Bai Lin spent all his time in the Magic Commercial Street. Ross agreed to his suggestion that he could set up a small shop in each play area of the zoo, but Ross asked for 30% of the profits. Bai Lin readily agreed and wrote it into the employment contract.

Kaka then brought many wizards of various trades, who, under Bai Lin's supervision, divided the island into sections for renovation. The various aggressive magical creatures that suddenly appeared were dealt with by Bai Lin and Zhuo Bi. In just three days, the island had taken shape. Not only were the various areas separated by powerful magical shields according to the floor plan, but more than a dozen stonemason wizards also laid dozens of kilometers of stone slab roads on the island.

Because of a shortage of manpower, Bai Lin only built a rather simple little house in the battle zone. Kaka lost interest when he saw the shabby appearance of the store.

The busy New Year's Day celebrations were over, and Hogwarts' Christmas holidays were also finished. After agreeing with Kaka on the arrival of the magical creatures a month later, Bai Linliu Zhuobi stayed at the simple shop he had arranged for him, assigning him the daunting task of opening a two-way door between the Zoo Island shop and the Hogsmeade clothing store. He then had Finnis buy him a plane ticket and flew back to London with a flourish.
