Hogwarts Summoning Guide

Chapter 50 A Letter from a Mysterious Family

Bai Lin understood immediately. Last night, this group of people hadn't joined Voldemort's inner circle at all. They were likely dark wizards recruited by Bellatrix herself. This way, Umbridge could insist they weren't Death Eaters, frame Dumbledore, and absolve herself of any responsibility for temporarily reassigning Dumbledore. It was a triple win. No wonder there were rumors that it was better to anger the Minister of Magic or the Prime Minister than to anger this pink toad.

Dumbledore listened quietly, showing no sign of anger. Bai Lin naturally didn't take her too seriously either. He even saw a hint of joy and excitement in Umbridge's eyes as she looked at Bella's corpse.

"Oh, Dorothy, that's not something I can decide. It was Professor Kaelin's private possession. You'll have to talk to him." Dumbledore winked at Bai Lin, gesturing for him to come forward. He knew Umbridge wouldn't dare do anything to Bai Lin.

Bai Lin raised his hand blankly and said, "Your Excellency, if you are referring to the Magic Cannon, as a precious collectible, if the Ministry of Magic really needs it, I can sell it to the Ministry of Magic at a price 5% lower than the market price..." In his tone, offering a 5% discount was already a decision that pained him greatly.

Umbridge pointed at Bai Lin, but for a long time, she didn't utter a curse. Just as Bai Lin had guessed, Umbridge wasn't truly angry. With Bella dead, the Death Eater prison break issue that she and Fudge had been trying to cover up could be easily dismissed.

Why would the Ministry of Magic go to such lengths to capture Black, issuing warrants everywhere and even having Azkaban send out a large number of Dementors? In reality, not long after Black's escape, Bellatrix, along with Antonin and several other Death Eaters, escaped using an unknown method.

Therefore, she was not only not angry, but should even thank Bai Lin.

Finally, a stern-faced middle-aged man stepped in to "smooth things over." He resembled an old lion, with disheveled hair, brown hair and thick eyebrows interspersed with streaks of gray. Behind his gold-rimmed glasses were a pair of sharp eyes. He had a slight limp, but still walked with a brisk stride. Bai Lin remembered that he was Rufus Scrimgeour, the head of the Auror's office, a sharp and tough old man. In the original story, although he often disagreed with Dumbledore, he ultimately protected Harry's whereabouts and was killed.

Scrimgeour said expressionlessly, "We will be conducting Legilimency on those involved later. I hope you will cooperate. Regardless of whether it was a terrorist attack by the Death Eaters, their attack on the magic school and the deployment of wanted criminal Bellatrix Lestrange to hunt down students constitutes a serious act of violence, and they deserve to die. The relevant legal responsibilities will be determined by the committee of the Department of Law Enforcement!"

Umbridge snorted coldly, still targeting Dumbledore: "Albus, I hope you can thoroughly reform Hogwarts. I don't want a similar incident to happen again. If you can't, the Ministry of Magic will appoint another headmaster!"

If Harry were there, he definitely wouldn't be able to resist giving Umbridge a piece of his mind. Is there anyone more suitable to be the headmaster than Dumbledore? But everyone present was an adult, and they knew that arguing with a nagging old lady was a complete waste of breath.

Dumbledore smiled and nodded, "As you wish, Dorothy~" Dumbledore always liked to call her by a more affectionate tone, with a hint of teasing. Bai Lin looked at Umbridge's ugly old face and almost burst out laughing.

After seeing Umbridge and the Ministry of Magic officials off, today's classes were essentially ruined. There were still more than a dozen Aurors at the school collecting evidence. Despite Filch's usual fierce demeanor towards the students, his attitude towards the Aurors did a complete 360-degree turn, even running around fawningly.

Upon learning of Bai Lin's relationship with Catherine, Mrs. Pince was filled with resentment towards Bai Lin. However, she seems to have recently taken a liking to Filch and has stopped bothering Bai Lin. But Bai Lin can no longer enter the library.

After only a few days of peaceful life, school classes gradually resumed, and the weekend featured a match between Slytherin and Ravenclaw. The students' attention slowly shifted from the terrorist attack to the Quidditch match.

Bai Lin easily finished his Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson for the first-year students—the children were quite interested in how he used the magical chocolate frog to deal with the Death Eaters.

Just as I reached the faculty lounge, an owl with tawny feathers and black spots flew in through the window. It was quite large and had two tufts of long ear feathers; it was a fierce long-eared owl.

The long-eared owl flew directly to Bai Lin's side. Bai Lin reached out his hand, and the owl landed steadily on his arm. Bai Lin looked down and saw that the long-eared owl was carrying a sealed letter. Bai Lin was a little surprised, wondering who would write to him.

After taking the long-eared owls to the owl house to rest, where they would eat and drink their fill and fly back on their own, Bai Lin returned to his room and opened the envelope.

To my dearest Lord Kelling:

The Presbyterian meeting will be held in London on December 22nd. Please take the train at 9:12 AM. I will be waiting for you at King's Cross Station.

Your loyal Phineas

The letter was short; Bai Lin finished reading it in less than ten seconds, but he was completely bewildered. Who was this Phineas? What was this Elder Council all about? Could it be that his Wizarding World self—Kelin White—had some incredible hidden identity?

Bai Lin looked at himself in the mirror and muttered to himself, "He is indeed of genuine Eastern blood, yet he's the Minister of Magic's nephew. Fudge, on the other hand, is white, and I don't remember anything special about him at all. This really confuses me..."

"Regardless of your bloodline, you are extremely handsome!" the mirror said.

"Perhaps I can ask someone with more seniority..." Bai Lin muttered to himself.

"No matter who you ask, you are very handsome!" the mirror said.

"I wasn't chatting with you, okay..." Bai Lin was speechless.

"If you need, feel free to chat with me anytime, my handsome master." The mirror always replies.

Bai Lin knocked on Dumbledore's office door, and Dumbledore's cheerful voice came from inside: "Kelly (Kelly's nickname), come in~"

Bai Lin gently pushed open the door and entered. Dumbledore was preening the feathers of the phoenix Fawkes. Fawkes stood quietly on its wooden frame, tilting its head and looking at Bai Lin curiously.

"Hello, Principal, hello, Fox~" Bai Lin greeted them, and Fox happily squinted his eyes and called out.

Dumbledore waved his hand casually and said, "No need to be so formal. Please sit down. There's tea on the table."

Bai Lin was indeed a little nervous. He sat down on the sofa in the reception area, and the tea set moved to him with a clinking sound, pouring him a steaming cup of citrus black tea. The aroma was very strong. Bai Lin took a small sip and said, "Very good tea, it should be from Sri Lanka."

"Oh, now everyone calls it Sri Lanka, but we older folks always called it Ceylon..." Dumbledore laughed. Sri Lanka was officially renamed from Ceylon in 1972, but older people still call it Ceylon, and Sri Lankan black tea is also called Ceylon tea.

"Headmaster, I wanted to ask you about something historical, about my family," Bai Lin said somewhat embarrassedly.
