Chapter 396 Sir Hesiris

Welcome to a vast collection of novels for you to explore!

"There are currently 170 Eastern mages in America. Do you need me to provide a list, Comrade Bai?" Old Pan, the shop owner, said, rubbing his hands together. To be honest, he didn't know the real purpose of Bai Lin's trip. Anyway, he just needed to cooperate fully.

"Uh, no need for that." Bai Lin's lips twitched. Only 170 people? This number is far lower than Bai Lin's estimate. There are probably many more hiding their identities. Besides, he has no confidence in whether these people still remain loyal to the East.

"I need a place to stay, and two helpers to gather intelligence," Bai Lin said casually as he looked around his used shop.

"Hey! Look..." Old Pan rubbed his hands together and said, "Why don't you make do with what I have in my shop for a bit?"

Bai Lin's lips twitched as he followed Lao Pan to see the guest room he had prepared. It couldn't be called shabby; it was practically bare.

In the end, Bai Lin paid Lao Pan 10 Galleons directly, and the old man happily arranged a nice safe house for Bai Lin. It was a two-bedroom house near the bustling Confucius Square, fully equipped, clean and practical.

To be honest, Bai Lin wasn't quite used to America's atmosphere. Take this Chinatown for example. There are hundreds of thousands of East Asians living here, and the area covers several square kilometers. Their language and writing are no different from those in the East, but walking on the streets still made Bai Lin feel very uncomfortable. It was a feeling that he couldn't quite explain.

So much so that he couldn't completely trust Old Pan, the man who had received him. After Old Pan told him to rest well and left humming a tune, Bai Lin immediately inspected the entire safe house and found a few suspicious items. Without saying a word, he threw them all out. Actually, he could activate the teleportation to his habitat at any time; he just needed a relatively safe anchor point.

After resting on the sofa for a while, Bai Lin finally managed to contact Lulu in the team chat. Bai Lin felt somewhat frustrated; among hundreds of thousands of Asians here, he couldn't find a single one he could trust. After thinking it over, he still trusted Lulu, the Norwegian-French woman, the most.

"I've arrived in America. Do you have any manpower available here?" Bai Lin asked.

After about two minutes, Lulu finally replied: "Miss Yan has already contacted me. Our goals are basically the same. I suggest you meet with the person in charge of the Explorers family in America. I will send you his information. If needed, Finnis can assist you."

"Great! Tell Phineas I miss him!" Bai Lin said with delight. Wizards who were once served by house-elves feel terrible after leaving them. Some wizards even treat house-elves as wish-granting machines because they will unconditionally fulfill your requests.

"So, Cousin Kerry, do you miss me?" Lulu asked playfully.

"Yes! If you were here, I would feel at ease!" Bai Lin said with a double meaning.

He had also asked himself how he really viewed the relationships with these girls, and how he should handle their futures. But no matter how he thought about it, Lulu was someone he couldn't bear to part with. It wasn't just initial attraction that blossomed into love over time, but also the friendship forged through shared battles and the trust behind their reliance on each other. It could be said that, apart from not being able to be with Bai Lin often, Lulu was the perfect girlfriend.

"Wait for me, I'll be there soon!" Lulu said and left the team channel, but quickly sent Bai Lin a contact number.

"Sir Hesilis, a renowned entrepreneur, collector, and philanthropist in Muggle society, and an elder of the Americana District of the Seekers family." Bai Lin looked at the detailed introduction and roughly understood who this person was.

In short, he's the boss who controls nearly half of New York's underground industry—that's definitely a major villain in a Batman movie. But since Lulu introduced him, he should be reliable.

Lulu advised Bai Lin to just reveal his real name and not hide it. After all, he's Bai Lin's cousin!

So as soon as it got dark, Bai Lin set off for a high-end club on Broadway, where Hesilis was hosting a charity gala that evening. His men were peddling pills all over Brooklyn, while their boss was gathering socialites to raise funds for impoverished people in Northeast Africa and penguins in Antarctica—it was truly a case of schizophrenia.

Bai Lin wore a tailcoat made by Catherine herself, looking young and successful, and as a wizard, he naturally didn't need an invitation and just slipped in.

Even before the party started, the clubhouse was already bustling with people. Dozens of young women dressed as bunny girls served guests food and drinks. A skilled classical band was playing in a corner, adding an artistic touch to the venue.

The elegantly dressed gentlemen and ladies were either chatting and gossiping in small groups, or sitting in a circle criticizing current affairs, or admiring themselves while drinking and pondering. Bai Lin felt that perhaps half of New York City's celebrities had come; this cheap uncle of his really had quite the airs.

The clubhouse was filled with Hesilis's collection, ranging from oil paintings and sculptures to cars and antiques. There were also many reporters taking photos of the celebrities, making it quite a lively place.

However, these celebrities were mostly Muggles; the real event was located deep inside the clubhouse.

Bai Lin walked through the first few halls, and soon security personnel wearing sunglasses blocked his way. Dali glanced at the two black security guards who were as strong as bison, smiled and flashed the Ross family crest, which Lulu had given him during the Genoa operation.

The security guards treated him with utmost respect and politely made way for him. After passing through a door that was clearly protected by magic, the lights inside dimmed instantly, the music shifted, taking on a distinctly decadent style, and a sultry atmosphere swept over them.

Stepping inside, wow, this was completely different from the style of explorer family gatherings in Europe. It was practically an uninhibited party, with gentlemen engaging in all sorts of intimate acts on the booths separated by thin gauze, their voices and laughter filling the air.

Several wizards approached and, using some unknown method, confirmed his identity as a family member before leading him to a side room. There, an elderly man with neatly combed hair reclined in a VIP chair, sipping a cigar. Two scantily clad young women knelt, trimming his toenails, while a house-elf in waiter's attire poured him drinks. Four wizards wearing silver masks stood guard on either side.

Bai Lin couldn't help but grin. Compared to the big shot in front of him, Elder Ross's demeanor was so approachable.

"Judging from your appearance, you're from the East? The Seekers family doesn't have many members in the East," Sir Hesilis said with a smirk.

"There aren't many, but these good-for-nothings you've placed in the room probably can't touch a hair on my head," Bai Lin said with a smile.
