Chapter 279 Mysterious Laboratory

Hiroyuki Edogawa's heart was racing. Although he hadn't seen his sister for a long time, he had a peculiar ability since childhood: if his sister was nearby, he would have a strange feeling, like the mysterious telepathic connection between twins.

Yuxi glanced at her watch; it was nearly midnight. Waseda University's campus was quiet, with faint moonlight filtering through the dense foliage and casting shadows on the campus paths, adding a touch of mystery.

The two dared not make a sound. In this somewhat dark environment, Edogawa Hiroyuki was not afraid at all. Instead, he took advantage of the darkness and walked quickly by the shadow of the big tree by the roadside. Yuuki could only follow closely behind him, but she felt uneasy and had a feeling that something was not right here.

Tokyo's urban area is incredibly expensive, and Waseda University isn't very large, unlike many universities in the East that span thousands of acres. At a glance, the campus has a dozen or so buildings that aren't very tall. One side is the teaching area, and the other side is the dormitory area. At this time of year, it's all pitch black, and the students and teachers are probably already asleep. But a few small buildings in the farthest part, next to a small hill, still have their lights on.

Hiroyuki Edogawa's senses grew clearer and clearer. He knew that his sister, whom he had been searching for for many years, was really nearby. He was both excited and nervous, but he didn't let this excitement cloud his judgment. He turned around and waved to Yuuka, then went to a signboard by the side of the road.

Yuxi approached and saw that it was a map of the campus. She took out her wand and cast a small magical barrier, preventing their voices from being heard. The fluctuations caused by this level of magic were very weak and would not usually trigger the magic monitoring device.

Hiroyuki Edogawa pointed to the map and said, "Those buildings with lights on should be the laboratories in the teaching and research buildings."

Yuuki couldn't read Japanese, so she could only nod and ask, "Are you sure your sister is over there?"

Hiroyuki Edogawa said with a solemn expression, "Very likely! Waseda University has a great reputation in Japan, especially in biology and medicine, where it has produced several Nobel Prize winners in Medicine and has the world's top biological laboratories. If the Ship of Light wants to conduct virus experiments, this is an excellent place."

Hiroyuki Edogawa only told half of what he meant. Not only does this place have the world's most advanced laboratories, but Waseda University also has a large number of young students. Given the ferocity of the Ship of Light, it would be incredibly convenient to grab a few students nearby to conduct experiments.

Yuqian nodded and said, "I promised. Control your emotions, find out the situation first. If it really is the Light Ship's base, we must wait for Kerry (Bai Lin's nickname) to come and act together!"

Hiroyuki Edogawa gave an OK sign, and the two tiptoed around the teaching building and the staff building. Behind the school was a small hill, and the two carefully walked up the hillside. After walking for nearly twenty minutes, the small building with lights on finally appeared in front of them. A low wall surrounded the building, with only one entrance and an unlocked iron gate.

"Watch out, there might be magical sentries!" Yuxi warned.

"Let's go that way!" Hiroyuki Edogawa hesitated for a moment, then decided to follow Yuuka's advice and go around to the other side of the wall instead of the main gate. Both of them were quite agile and carefully climbed over the wall. They saw two large dogs lying at the corner of the main gate. There were faint red lights on their necks, so they must have been wearing some kind of device. Luckily, both of them were petite and landed very lightly. Otherwise, even if they were twenty meters away, they would have definitely startled the dogs.

Yuxi silently took out her wand, exchanged a glance with Hiroyuki Edogawa, and the two of them simultaneously cast a Stunning Charm, knocking the two large dogs unconscious, who were already asleep.

"That's it!" After dealing with the large dog, Hiroyuki Edogawa noticed a sign prominently displayed on the wall of the small building. Pointing to the sign, he said, "That's the Eden Summer logo. This is a laboratory set up by the United States. It seems pretty much a done deal!"

Going through the main gate was definitely the most dangerous. Edogawa Hiroyuki confidently led Yuuki to a corner of the small building, waved his wand at the corner, and said a spell that Yuuki had never heard before.

"Thanks, magic! Hehe!" With a sigh of praise from Hiroyuki Edogawa, the hard wall seemed to come alive, and after a moment of movement, a small door opened. This must have been some kind of prank magic, similar to the way doors open in Diagon Alley.

The two guards in the small building, dressed in special forces uniforms and carrying submachine guns, were chatting quietly and smoking cigarettes at the front door. Little did they expect the two men to have circled around to the back. However, they didn't provoke the guards, since the two men had some connection with the Ship of Light, and their weapons might be specially made. They might not have the upper hand in a fight.

The two secretly searched room by room, only to find that apart from the guards at the door, the building was completely empty, and the few rooms with lights on were just normal laboratory classrooms.

"Underground!" Hiroyuki Edogawa pointed to the floor and whispered.

Although Youxi felt she should stop there and ideally inform Bai Lin before coming, she was also very curious. The place was filled with a mysterious atmosphere, and she also had a little bit of a desire to show off in front of Bai Lin. After all, after Yan Nishuang appeared, Youxi felt a great sense of crisis. Yan Nishuang was too beautiful and too powerful. Compared to her, she was just an ordinary country girl. Youxi was actually eager to prove herself and that she could help Bai Lin and become his good girlfriend and helper.

Amidst these complex emotions, she followed Hiroyuki Edogawa to a locked office.

Hiroyuki Edogawa pointed to the nameplate on the door of the office. Yuuki looked at it and, although she didn't recognize Japanese, she could tell that this was the director's office, which was also the largest office in the building.

"Araho Open!" Hiroyuki Edogawa pointed to the lock and said. This is an internationally recognized lock-picking spell, also known as the "Friend of Thieves," but it's not taught in regular magic schools.

He gently turned the doorknob and opened the door. The office was dark, but he slipped inside without hesitation.

The room had no windows, which was one of the reasons why Hiroyuki Edogawa judged that something was amiss. He didn't need to worry about the guards outside seeing the light inside, so he unleashed his fluorescent flashing ability without hesitation, and the room was instantly as bright as day.

The room is about 30 square meters. One side is a reception area with a small sofa, and the other side has a wall of bookshelves and a rather retro-style desk, which is also piled with books and documents.

"Don't touch anything," Hiroyuki Edogawa whispered. He lay down on the floor to examine the bottom of all the furniture. Sure enough, in less than two minutes, he found a groove under the desk. It was so small that it was hard to spot unless you looked closely. The groove was only big enough to fit a finger. He reached in without hesitation and found that it seemed to be a button.

Suddenly, a mechanical sound came from the ground, and the floor in the center of the room shrank to both sides, revealing a small metal platform.

"Found it! This is the elevator to the underground!" Hiroyuki Edogawa said. "Because we need to use it frequently, it's not very well hidden..."

He spoke with a smug look and winked at Youxi. Although Youxi rolled her eyes in annoyance, she still admired him. If she had come alone, she probably wouldn't have been able to find the mechanism even after a whole day.

Before Edogawa Hiroyuki could finish gloating, suddenly, a woman's voice came abruptly from not far away from them:

Should I reward you or punish you?

The two of them were startled by the sound, like wild cats whose tails had been stepped on.

A young woman in her early twenties gracefully removed a transparent garment from her body, appearing before the two men. She leaned elegantly against a vintage desk, holding a stemmed champagne glass in her hand.

Edogawa Hiroyuki didn't recognize the other person at first, but the other person said first, "It's been a long time, Hiroyuki... my younger brother."
