In the original storyline, Harry and Black didn't reveal the truth until almost New Year's Day in the haunted house of Hogsmeade. In the end, Black was forced to flee. Bai Lin couldn't wait that long, because his appearance seemed to have caused some unknown changes in the development of the whole situation.

Bai Lin said, "If we continue to speculate like this, it's very likely that Bella sent Death Eaters to get rid of Black. There are still a lot of Dementors at Hogwarts. They were all allies of the Dark Lord, so we really have to be on guard.
