Hogwarts Summoning Guide

Chapter 248 Demolition Tool

Watching Catherine dissipate into starlight and vanish into thin air, Edogawa Hiroyuki swallowed hard. He weakly tugged at Bai Lin's sleeve and said, "Brother Bai... could you teach me that move...? It's so... so..."

"You big idiot!" Bai Lin gave him a sharp rap on the head. "Hurry up and get out of here, or the Japanese police will come and arrest you!"

Pulling along the already weak-legged Edogawa Hiroyuki, the two disappeared into the darkness. This kind of major incident, where an entire building was blown up, attracted almost the entire Japanese police force of Kagoshima Prefecture, but they were destined to find nothing. This was still the 1990s; they couldn't possibly examine every single brick to extract fingerprints. Even if they found Shirarin's fingerprints, they still wouldn't be able to find Shirarin.

The next morning, as Bai Lin and Edogawa Hiroyuki were enjoying a hearty breakfast in the hotel restaurant, the television next to them was broadcasting news about Morisaki Shipping Company, which had announced information on 32 missing persons. Bai Lin couldn't help but sigh, thinking that these poor people were probably the ghosts that provided energy to Ju-on.

After eating and drinking their fill, the two, dressed in floral shirts and wearing sunglasses, boarded a sightseeing bus to Sakurajima Volcano, looking like tourists. Last night, in the documents of Morisaki Shipping Company, Hiroyuki Edogawa remembered some ship delivery information and finally deduced that the "Fujiwara Biotherapy Research Institute" was located at the foot of Sakurajima.

The area at the foot of Sakurajima Mountain is lush and verdant, a rare sight among active volcanoes. The vegetation is quite pleasing to the eye when it is reflected in the clear seawater. Bai Lin yawned and got off the bus. He could already see their destination in the distance—a Western-style manor peeking out from behind the trees not far away.

The manor was private property. Ordinary tourists were led by guides up the mountainside, while Bai Lin and his companion silently disappeared into the woods. Watching Bai Lin change into a leather hunting outfit in the blink of an eye, looking as if he were facing a formidable enemy, Edogawa Hiroyuki felt a little nervous. He gritted his teeth and followed closely behind. After spending a few days with Bai Lin, he felt it was better than a whole year at magic school. He couldn't help but feel a thirst for power and secretly made up his mind to become a strong person like Bai Lin.

The manor looked very ordinary from the outside and did not cover a large area. The plants in the garden were growing wildly and had not been trimmed for a long time. The path leading to the manor gate through the iron gate was overgrown with weeds. It did not look like a wealthy manor, but rather like an abandoned old house.

"This is it," said Hiroyuki Edogawa, pointing to a small, dark sign on one side of the iron gate. Bai Lin stepped forward and saw that the sign indeed had four Chinese characters engraved on it: "Fujiwara Mansion".

The Western-style mansion is a unique building in Japan after the Meiji Restoration, which absorbed the Western Renaissance style and integrated it with the Eastern architectural style. The Fujiwara Mansion is not large in scale; it is actually just a four-story villa.

Ordinary iron gates and fences are certainly not a problem, but after entering the garden in front of the mansion, Bai Lin felt the defensive mechanism that Fujiwara Ichiura, or rather the Ship of Light, had set up here.

Good and bad people set up defense mechanisms in completely different ways. When the Order of the Phoenix set up defense mechanisms for 12 Grimmauld Place, they used a hidden method, which could only be seen by those who knew the exact location of the house, to protect the members of the Order of the Phoenix from the pursuit of Death Eaters. On the other hand, the defense mechanisms that Voldemort set up for Gauntlet's ring and Slytherin's locket were deadly curses and poisons. The curse that Fujiwara Ichiura used on the Morisaki Shipping Company was naturally also intended to kill people.

If the Fujiwara Biotherapy Research Institute is an important research base for the Ship of Light, it certainly wouldn't be undefended. However, the scene before them suggested that no one had entered or left for a long time. The iron gate behind them moved without wind, slowly closing automatically. An invisible force, like a dome, rose from the courtyard wall, trapping the two inside.

"Invite the enemy into the trap..." Bai Lin glanced back at the iron gate, and what he saw made him realize that the wrought iron fence seemed to come alive, turning into rusty serpents that slowly twisted on the gate and the fence.

Hiroyuki Edogawa swallowed hard, tightening his grip on his wand. He asked hesitantly, "Brother Bai... are we just going to walk in like this?"

Bai Lin glanced at him, stopped, and crossed his arms, saying, "Then I'll have to ask you. I didn't bring you here to be a baby. Give me your advice when it's time!"

Hiroyuki Edogawa exclaimed with a start, "Of course we can't just go in like that! The Ship of Light will definitely have laid many traps, and there might even be that female ghost from yesterday! With so many windows in the mansion, I think even if the research institute is here, it should be located underground."

Bai Lin nodded, flexed his fingers, and said, "I understand. So, this house isn't worth much, is that what you mean...?"

Looking at Shirarin's somewhat serious expression, Edogawa Hiroyuki muttered, "Masaka...?"

Bai Lin pointed at the villa and shouted, "Summon: Longhorn Dragon, tear this dilapidated building down!"

"What?!" Hiroyuki Edogawa was stunned, staring dumbfounded as a colossal creature descended from the sky. It was an adult fire dragon with a jet-black body, golden horns on its head that shone brightly, and its glossy scales, sharp teeth in its blood-red mouth, and the captivating light reflected from its orange dragon eyes all told him that this was a top-tier behemoth on Earth (of course, not comparable to the likes of Zemurus).

The longhorned dragon excitedly landed on the ground. Hiroyuki Edogawa felt a jolt in his feet and almost stumbled and fell. He watched as the giant beast charged toward the villa's door like a huge demolition machine. Its massive head snapped back, and a pillar of fire shot out from its mouth.

In twenty minutes, with Hiroyuki Edogawa somewhat dazed, the longhorned dragon burned the entire villa to the ground. It didn't care what traps, magical artifacts, or formations were set up inside; it just burned them all down. The flames even caused a few small explosions, but none of them were serious. The longhorned dragon happily burrowed into the fire, swinging its long tail, and happily did the work of a demolition crew.

After the longhorned dragon finished its work, Bai Lin summoned a whirlwind to push the ashes of the ruins and debris to a deserted open space. After clearing only half of it, he found a large iron gate resembling a manhole cover in the dark pile of bricks. The markings on the iron gate were half burned by the fire, but a relief with a distinct ancient Egyptian style could still be discerned. One side was the human world, and the other side was hell, with a sun boat sailing between yin and yang.

"You guessed right! The underground research facility of the Ship of Light is right here!" Bai Lin gave Edogawa Hiroyuki a thumbs up. Edogawa Hiroyuki chuckled dryly, still trembling from the lingering power of summoning the fire dragon, such a powerful weapon.
