Chapter 206 Battle of the Snow Mountain
"Sniper! Take cover!" Bai Lin shouted. Although it was a little late, he couldn't let the grief-stricken Krum be exposed to the enemy's crosshairs again because of his emotions.
Krum was furious, his eyes reddening instantly. Watching Yakov slowly fall and the blood-red ice scattered around him, the grief in his heart almost overwhelmed him. But Bai Lin's cry brought him back to his senses, and he rolled away to hide behind another large rock.
"It's the Spellbreaker's Arcane Gun. The Armor Charm won't work. Be careful not to get hit!" Bai Lin pulled Catherine and quickly found cover, about four or five meters away from Krum.
With such heavy snow and extremely poor visibility, the opponent was just a Muggle gunman. No matter how well-trained he was, he couldn't possibly have X-ray vision. So the opponent placed the skis in a relatively conspicuous location with less wind, like bait for fishing. Whoever got close to the skis would enter the sniper's attack range.
The other party fired a shot and then disappeared without a trace. Bai Lin quickly glanced around; the higher ground ahead was also covered in snow, a vast expanse of white with very few exposed rocks. However, after checking the visibility, he determined that the other party couldn't be more than 300 meters away. He also guessed the other party's identity; it was most likely his old nemesis, Andyeb. Although he had recovered from the last time he was shot by Andyeb, the pain had lasted for months, and Bai Lin harbored a deep hatred for him.
Catherine whispered, "I'll use a barrage of bullets to distract him, then you can take advantage of the situation?"
"No need for that," Bai Lin patted her hand, then pointed to the sky and shouted, "Summon: Longhorn Dragon!"
A longhorned dragon with a wingspan of nearly nine meters was summoned in a burst of light. Its golden horn shone brightly, and its jet-black scales were exceptionally conspicuous in the wind and snow. Having not appeared for a long time, it let out an excited roar, which shook the snow on the high mountain.
With a gunshot, a bullet struck the horned dragon squarely in the head, sending sparks flying. However, the horned dragon only had two scales deformed, suffering almost no actual damage. How could a creature at the top of the food chain like the dragon be afraid of a mere rifle?
However, the shot enraged the horned dinosaur, which roared and flew towards the direction of the shot, covering several hundred meters in the blink of an eye.
Whoever was lying in ambush would be completely dumbfounded by this situation. They had secret weapons at their disposal, with a shooting range far exceeding that of ordinary wizards' magic. There were only a handful of Aurors in Siberia, and even if they all came, they were confident they could launch a successful ambush.
But what was with this suddenly appearing black fire dragon? It was far beyond their comprehension. Andyeb, the leader, decisively opened fire, but even his 98K couldn't harm the dragon; instead, it enraged it. He considered firing a follow-up shot; if he could hit the dragon's eye, perhaps there would be a chance. However, shooting accuracy in the snowstorm was extremely poor, and the dragon's reaction and speed far exceeded his expectations. He roared, "Attack together! Kill this beast!"
A group of Spellbreaker soldiers, armed with various firearms, emerged from their snow-covered bunkers and opened fire on the horned dragon. However, their accuracy was so poor that not a single one of their ten shots hit its mark. Meanwhile, Andieb slung his gun over his back and, taking advantage of his men's focus on the dragon, began to retreat.
The longhorned dragon didn't tolerate the humans. It took a deep breath in the air, and then a fifteen-meter-long pillar of fire shot out from its mouth. The two closest spellbreaker soldiers were instantly burned into human torches. They screamed in pain, waving their hands, and turned into charred corpses in less than three or four seconds.
Bai Lin turned his head and saw Krum, his face full of indignation, drawing his wand and beckoning to the flying broom he had just thrown into the snow. The broom flew into his hand with a whoosh, and he mounted it and charged forward. Bai Lin knew that Krum was grieving the death of his friend before his eyes and wanted to avenge Yakov.
Worried about Krum's safety, Bai Lin quickly summoned Xue Feng and pulled Catherine onto Xue Feng's back.
Why is it said that wolves are the kings of the snowfield? In this cold environment, Xuefeng was full of energy and leaped out from behind a large rock.
There were at least thirty to fifty lawbreakers. Although most of them were dealing with the longhorn dragons, some of them were still keeping an eye on Bai Lin. Several soldiers with submachine guns began to fire at Krum, who had charged within a hundred meters.
Krum riding his flying broom was like Lu Bu riding Red Hare; his agility and dodging skills far surpassed those of ordinary people. He stayed close to the ground, changing his posture left and right, and quickly approached the defense line of the spellbreaker soldiers. He pointed his wand at the soldiers' cover and cast a Shattering Curse.
The large rock exploded like a grenade, blasting several spellbreaker soldiers to the ground. Krum raised his hand and immediately unleashed a Divine Strike Without Shadow. An invisible blade flew out, and two soldiers standing together felt a chill on their chests as they were cleaved in two.
Seeing Krum's decisive and ruthless manner, Bai Lin knew that he was furious and would not care about the consequences of his actions. However, Bai Lin soon noticed that two soldiers wielding submachine guns appeared from Krum's side. Bai Lin quickly cast a stun spell, and the two soldiers fell to the ground at the same time. Bai Lin looked down and saw that it was Catherine who had attacked him almost simultaneously.
It should be noted that Bai Lin casts spells in Chinese at an extremely fast speed, while Catherine is on par with him, clearly indicating that she has undergone extremely arduous training.
Krum charged into the ranks of the spellbreaker soldiers like a god of death. With a flick of his wand, a large fireball shot out from the tip, blasting two soldiers to the ground, their bodies engulfed in flames.
A soldier rushed over, drew his scimitar, and slashed at Krum's neck. However, Krum ducked, dodging the sword, and then delivered a right hook that sent the soldier flying into the air before crashing heavily to the ground.
Krum was bloodthirsty, but Bai Lin couldn't ignore him. If a sniper shot killed Krum, Karkarov would definitely fight Bai Lin to the death. Fortunately, Xuefeng was agile and aggressive. Some soldiers lost their will to fight when they saw the fire dragon raging over there and a giant wolf appearing over here. They scattered and fled down the mountain.
"That must be their leader, running up the mountain!" Catherine said, pointing to the figure that had already climbed the mountain and was about to disappear from their sight.
Bai Lin looked up and, sure enough, Krum had also heard Catherine's voice. He jumped onto his broom and chased after her. Bai Lin pulled on Xuefeng's long hair and followed closely behind, leaving only the Longhorn Dragon hunting down the remaining Spellbreaker soldiers in the mountains.
Hearing the whooshing sound behind him, Andieb turned around and fired a shot. Krum managed to dodge in time, but whether Andieb was lucky or Krum was unlucky, the shot hit Krum's broom handle, breaking his flying broom in two.
Krum fell from the air in a rather disheveled manner, landing headfirst in the snow, his head hitting the ice, causing him to see stars from the pain.
Bai Lin, thinking Krum had been shot, was terrified and rushed forward. He saw Krum getting up from the snow and breathed a sigh of relief. Andieb's marksmanship was too good; Bai Lin dared not be careless. Without waiting for Catherine's consent, he simply "threw" her to Krum's side, saying, "Treat his wounds, I'm going after them!"
Catherine was about to object, but she had already fallen into the snow. When she turned her head, the snow and wind had already rushed more than ten meters away, so she had no choice but to give up.
Andyab was an Egyptian who walked incredibly fast on the frigid snow-capped mountains of Siberia. But even if he had two extra legs, how could he possibly outrun the snow and wind? The two drew closer and closer.
As Andyab ran, he loaded his 98K rifle, but Bai Lin stared intently at him. As soon as he turned around, Bai Lin immediately dodged on his Xuefeng. But Andyab didn't fire. Instead, he provocatively gave Bai Lin the middle finger.
Bai Lin was furious, but they were still fifty or sixty meters apart. Even the Frost Arrow with the longest range would have a hard time hitting the other side. Bai Lin gritted his teeth and rode Snow Wind to catch up.
Andyeb suddenly turned around at a rocky spot and disappeared from Bai Lin's sight. As Bai Lin chased after him, a black ball was thrown from Andyeb's hand. It was an ordinary hand grenade, but the grenade was thrown not towards Bai Lin, but towards the thick snow on the mountaintop.
The grenade exploded with a loud bang, the sound echoing through the clouds. Before Bai Lin could react, the thick snow on the mountain collapsed.
"WTF! Avalanche!" Bai Lin couldn't help but curse. Xue Feng quickly turned the wolf's head to avoid the avalanche and prevent being buried alive.
"I just don't believe it! Summon: Thunderbird!" Bai Lin was furious. When Xue Feng jumped onto a large rock and was temporarily safe, he immediately recalled Xue Feng and summoned the Thunderbird.
The Thunderbird lives in a relatively hot subtropical region. The cold wind on the snow-capped mountain made it shiver. But the Thunderbird is a wise bird with a strong will that is no less than that of humans. With a flap of its wings, it took off and struck Andyeb with a bolt of lightning.
If Bai Lin was furious, Andyeb was even more enraged. He never expected that three of these rare and exotic beasts, which he could hardly ever see, would appear in just over ten minutes. They all seemed to be Bai Lin's pets. Before he could even aim at the Thunderbird, its lightning had already arrived. However, the distance was too great, and the lightning did not directly hit Andyeb. Instead, it blasted the rocks beneath his feet into fragments. Andyeb lost his footing and fell off the cliff, landing in the increasingly collapsing snow.
Bai Lin waved his hand, and the fire crossbow bolts that had just landed and been thrown into the snow flew over. He flipped over and mounted them, and just as he took flight, an avalanche buried the large rock he had just been standing on.
Looking at the spectacular avalanche below, Bai Lin had no time to sigh or appreciate it. He stared intently at Andyeb's figure as he flew past.
Andyeb was completely out of control during the avalanche, and his 98K disappeared without a trace. He was about to be buried alive in the deep snow, but Bai Lin did not let him die so easily. He still wanted to get information from Andyeb.
Bai Lin was in the air when he saw several snow walls emerging from the collapsed snow below Andiebu, which, although not very strong, greatly slowed down the speed at which Andiebu was swept away by the snow. Then, Bai Lin cast a Shadow Chain, and several black chains flew out from all directions, binding Andiebu tightly.
Andyab felt as if he were being suspended in a torrent, with snow rushing past him, threatening to freeze him, and stones lying in the snow constantly pelting him, almost like torture.
But the avalanche ended quickly. Soon, the snow settled down again, as if nothing had happened, and Andyeb fell heavily to the ground.
Bai Lin descended and said to Andieb, "Answer my question, and I'll give you a quick death! Where is Barnard?"
Andyib lay motionless on the ground. When Bai Lin asked him a second question, he suddenly rolled over, revealing a cryptic revolver in his hand. He pointed it at Bai Lin and yelled, "I... (Arabic swear words)!"
Just as he was about to fire, and Bai Lin was preparing to roll to the side to dodge, a shark emerged from the snow beside him and bit Andyeb's arm with its gaping maw.
"What?! This works?" Bai Lin smiled wryly. Who else could it be but Krum?
The great white shark bit off Andyeb's arm, and the pistol fell to the ground. Bai Lin waved his hand, and the pistol flew into his hand.
"Ah!" Andieb screamed and fell to the ground again. Krum spat out his arm, transformed back into human form, pointed his wand at Andieb's face, his face flushed red, as if he wanted to execute Andieb on the spot.
"No! Using dark magic to kill will corrupt your soul!" Catherine's voice came from behind, as she rode up on a flying broomstick to stop Krum.
Bai Lin stepped forward and grabbed his arm, saying, "It's not worth it for someone like that. Leave it to me!"
"Hahahaha! You hypocritical black wizard!" Andyeb screamed, and suddenly pulled a silver dagger from his pocket and stabbed it directly into his own neck.
Bai Lin was dumbfounded. He never expected that he would choose to commit suicide. Blood spurted from Andiyebu's neck, instantly staining his fur coat and blood clots. This time, he collapsed in the snow and never got up again, dying right in front of the three of them.
Bai Lin thought of his previous atrocities against Kiki, the deaths and injuries he caused at the Quidditch World Cup and the bullet he shot himself, and how he blew Yakov's head off... He had wanted to grind him to dust, but looking at his corpse, Bai Lin could only sigh. He wondered how many other Spellbreakers were like this, who thought they were loyal to a certain belief or ideal, but were committing demonic crimes.
With a cry of an eagle, the Thunderbird flew to Bai Lin's side, its claws clutching a silver rifle about a meter long—the very 98K that Caesar had confiscated from Qi Qi.
Bai Lin gritted his teeth. He summoned the Thunderbird and the Longhorn Dragon, pointed to the mountain, and said, "Barnard and the leader of the Spellbreakers are likely up there. We can no longer tolerate their evil deeds. Today, I will eradicate this evil organization!"
