Chapter 141: Return to Peace

Kaka's mercenary team was quite formidable, and their equipment was clearly superior to the spellbreakers' old-fashioned firearms, catching them completely off guard. Even if Caesar were to die, he would never have imagined that the wizards would have such a team lying in ambush beside the arena. No matter how good their rune armor's magic resistance was, it couldn't withstand the barrage of submachine gun fire.

The Spellbreakers abandoned seven or eight corpses and finally retreated into the woods. Caesar personally covered their retreat and fought a guerrilla war with the mercenaries for more than two hours. Kaka then issued an order to stop the pursuit and retreat back to the arena to prevent the Spellbreakers from hiding one or two more people there for a final strike.

Since they couldn't help, Bai Lin thought of the Lawbreakers' tent. The three-person team sneaked over there. The Lawbreakers should have all retreated, as there wasn't a single guard in front of the tent.

However, Bai Lin wasn't sure if Caesar had hidden any traps in the tent, such as stepping on a landmine as soon as you entered. The three of them looked at each other in bewilderment.

Yuxi said, "Captain, it's just a regular tent. We can just take it down!"

Bai Lin's face flushed red, and he shouted at Zhuo Bi, "Did you hear that? Just demolish it! Do you expect a wounded soldier like me to do it?"

Zhuo Bi chuckled and simply cut an entrance on the side of the tent.

The tent was decorated in the style of an Arabian nomadic people. Bai Lin crawled inside and glanced around, immediately noticing a large box in one corner of the tent, with Qi Qi's mechanical leg leaning against it.

"Save them!" Bai Lin said, pointing to the large box.

Zhuo Bi stepped forward and cast a lock-picking spell, but the box didn't budge. He tried other spells, but they were still ineffective. Helpless, he said to Bai Lin, "Captain, it seems we'll have to rely on your sword to pry it open... This lock is also an anti-magic product."

Bai Lin stepped forward and took a look. He wondered how the Spellbreaker had managed to transport the box. It weighed at least several hundred kilograms, and the lock looked so big that even breaking a sword wouldn't be enough to open it.

However, Bai Lin remembered that he had a lock-picking expert by his side, so he waved his hand and released the Red-Eyed Sniff.

Niffler sniffed around the large box, seemingly uninterested. Bai Lin rolled his eyes, pulled a handful of gold coins from his pocket, and said to Niffler, "Open the box, and all the gold coins are yours!"

Sniff immediately perked up, gesturing wildly at Bai Lin before jumping onto the large lock. Its front paws, as if boneless, slipped into the keyhole, and in a moment, with a turn, the lock opened.

"I mean what I say!" Bai Lin tossed the gold coin to Niffler, who happily stuffed it into its mouth.

Upon opening the large box, there indeed lay the disheveled Kiki Hades. Her hands were bound, her eyes were blindfolded, and her mouth was stuffed with a rag. She lay helplessly in the box, her only remaining leg covered in bruises, and her other leg had been amputated ten centimeters above the knee, fitted with a metal prosthetic base. She remained motionless, as if she were dead.

Her upper garment was almost torn to shreds. Bai Lin was shocked and quickly took off his coat and covered her with it.

Zhuo Bi stepped aside somewhat embarrassedly, allowing You Qian to untie the ropes binding Qi Qi and remove the blindfold.

Qiqi's hair was disheveled, and her face was wet with tears that had dried and then dried again, leaving streaks of tears. Her eyes were somewhat vacant, as if she had lost all will to live. When she saw Bai Lin and You Qian, her eyes remained indifferent, as if she had accepted the worst possible outcome.

Bai Lin looked at the Egyptian girl, a wave of pity washing over him. He leaned over and gently brushed some hair from her forehead, saying, "Come with me, and forget the past!"

Qiqi turned her head away, biting her lower lip, and remained silent, but her body language suggested that she had accepted the suggestion. Bai Lin had Youxi help her up, and she stepped out of the large box with difficulty.

Qiqi glanced at the mechanical leg beside her out of the corner of her eye, but didn't say anything. Bai Lin said to her, "I'll give you an even better one, I promise!"

Qiqi lowered her head and remained silent.

Just as they stepped out of the tent, Bai Lin suddenly felt a sense of alarm. Ignoring his shoulder injury, he tackled Qi Qi and You Qian, who was gently supporting her, to the ground. A cold shot came from a distance, narrowly missing Bai Lin's scalp and hitting the ground.

The gunman missed his shot and immediately fled. Kiki looked up, her eyes filled with hatred and rage: "Andyab!"

Andyab finally stopped attacking, probably because he assessed the risks. Even if he killed one or two people, he would inevitably lose his chance to escape.

The four carefully returned to Blake's tent. Bai Lin finally couldn't hold on any longer, stumbled, and fell to the ground.

He didn't know how much time had passed, but in his hazy state, Bai Lin seemed to have returned to his previous world, to his high school days, to his grandfather's boxing gym, and to playing around with Xue Lin...

After an unknown amount of time, he dreamed of Catherine, of her affectionately holding his arm as they strolled along the streets of Cairo… of her embracing his neck as they kissed on the clock tower of Hogwarts… of her crawling into his tent…

After an unknown amount of time, he dreamed of Catherine, of her affectionately holding his arm as they strolled along the streets of Cairo… of her embracing his neck as they kissed on the clock tower of Hogwarts… of her crawling into his tent…

When Bai Lin woke up, he found himself in a spacious and bright hospital room. He turned his head and saw a black-haired girl sleeping next to him. For a moment, he thought Catherine had returned.

He excitedly reached out to put his arm around the girl's shoulder, but startled her. When she looked up, Bai Lin realized that it was Lulu.

Lulu rubbed her eyes and said, "Oh my, Cousin Kaili, you're awake!" She smiled and gave Bai Lin a big hug.

Bai Lin felt an immense sense of justice pressing down on him, and was immediately quite embarrassed, as he had almost made a fool of himself.

"Lulu... what's wrong with your hair?" Bai Lin asked calmly as Lulu released her grip.

"Oh, I thought you liked black hair, so I decided to keep it black from now on!" Lulu said matter-of-factly.

Bai Lin scratched his head, unsure whether Lulu was joking or serious. However, he felt too embarrassed to lash out at Lulu for her "never informing him of the battle plan" at this charming and sweet girl.

"How long have I been unconscious? Why are you taking care of me here?" Bai Lin asked.

"It's been two days! This is the Explorers family's private hospital in London, so you can rest assured and recover. Those bad guys and monsters shouldn't be causing any more trouble lately!" Lulu said.

Bai Lin looked at his shoulder; his right arm was still a little sore when he moved it, indicating that he had likely undergone surgery. For this type of wound, once the bullet was removed and the necrotic tissue was excised, healing magic would be effective, and it should heal in a few days.

"We should be able to have a few peaceful days... By the way... could you get me a few pieces of equipment for the Spellbreaker?" Bai Lin asked.

"Well, if you want it... that's fine, but they're all pretty badly damaged..." Lulu said, touching her chin.

Just then, a group of people pushed open the door and came in. Bai Lin looked up and saw Zhuo Bi, Youxi, Harry, Hermione... as well as Black, who was pretending to be indifferent, and Lupin, who was looking around...
