Chapter 101 The Secret Workshop Inside the Pyramid

As an advisor, Bai Lin naturally didn't need to be the vanguard. The young Auror named Elia had his wand glow and was the first to rush into the stone house.

"Be careful!" Blanco warned, naturally walking at the back, with even Bai Lin ahead of him.

The Aurors cast protective spells on themselves and lit their wands. The group walked down the stairs for about forty or fifty meters diagonally, and a stone door appeared in front of them, with an abstract drawing of a Sphinx engraved on it.

The Auror, who seemed to have some knowledge of antiques, stepped forward, touched the stone door, and said, "It's several hundred years old; it's not a product of ancient Egypt."

He pointed at the stone door and said, "Allahomara! (Unlocking spell)" but the stone door did not budge.

Elijah said, "Try this, Disendim! (Split left and right)" Split left and right is a prank spell that has been used to open secret passages to Hogsmeade. This Auror is obviously quite knowledgeable and experienced.

Sure enough, the stone door slowly opened to the left and right. Bai Lin saw that the stone door was half a meter thick. Without the separation spell, it would probably take half a day to open it by blasting it to pieces.

Behind the stone gate was an underground hall. The floor was very clean, as if it had been swept. There was neither thick dust nor footprints or other traces.

In the very center of the hall is a well, more than a meter in diameter, leading deep underground.

Elijah approached the well, pointed his wand downwards, and the glowing light detached from the tip of his wand, falling down the well. After a moment, Elijah looked up and said, "It's fifty meters deep (the French don't use feet as a unit of distance), and the well's lifting mechanism has been removed."

This was no challenge for the Aurors, of course. Blanco added, "Be careful, there might still be remnants of the Spellbreakers lurking here!"

Several Aurors nodded, but still bravely jumped down into the well. Their bodies slowly descended, and after a while, they began to glow from the bottom of the well, forming a safe circle.

Bai Lin glanced at Blanco. Of course, the director wouldn't jump first. Bai Lin shrugged and jumped down from the well. He used levitation to descend more slowly and took the opportunity to examine the walls of the well. There were many patterns and murals engraved on them, but they were too old to see clearly. The well was more spacious than he had imagined. Although the well opening and the exit below were square, the inside of the well was circular, probably for the purpose of resisting lateral pressure.

Once at the bottom of the well, just like above, it was an underground hall, but with a very ancient passageway leading to each of the four directions.

"There's a mysterious energy protecting this place," Bai Lin said. "The air is very fresh, which proves there's a ventilation system, but the stone walls are only slightly weathered. It's not our wizarding magic; it's a more primitive kind of energy."

Blanco landed as well, looked around, and said, "Let's scout ahead!"

Elijah pointed in a direction and said, "It should be this way. I just wrote down the direction we came in from. This way is north, leading directly to the base of the Pyramid of Unas."

The other Aurors also "displayed their unique abilities," some releasing trained rats, others releasing magical threads, and soon they reached the same conclusion.

Blanco nodded, and Elia once again led the way, heading north.

The passageway was quite long, and there were many well-preserved murals on the stone walls on both sides. Bai Lin had an idea and took out the camera he had bought earlier, wanting to take pictures of the murals and find experts to interpret them later. However, the camera was interfered with and could not work, so Bai Lin had to give up.

Although the passageway was long and narrow, it wasn't empty on either side; instead, there were many small rooms. The Aurors walked and examined the rooms, but found nothing. Most of the rooms had been emptied, perhaps by tomb raiders, or perhaps by someone who had lived there and cleaned up the traces before leaving.

Bai Lin had a very bad feeling, as if his perception of time had greatly diminished. As they walked, Bai Lin tried to recall how many minutes he had walked, how far he had gone, whether it was ten minutes or twenty minutes, and he had absolutely no idea.

"How long have we been walking?" he asked.

Blanco took out his pocket watch, but it had stopped. He tapped it twice, but it didn't budge.

Blanco's face was quite grim. He said, "Gary, let's go back!"

The Auror agreed and quickly walked away, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

Elijah, who was ahead, quickened his pace. The distance from the stone house above to the Pyramid of Unas was about 800 meters. If Bai Lin were to reconstruct their trajectory in his mind, they would have already traveled nearly two kilometers north and should have long since left the area of the Pyramid of Unas.

Suddenly, Elia cried out in surprise. Bai Lin went forward to see what was happening and saw a very strange situation: Gary ran over from the front, his wand glowing brightly.

"We're going in circles!" Elijah said.

"It might be a very strong Confusion Charm! It's made us lose our way," Blanco said.

The Aurors stopped and began casting spells on their surroundings, hoping to break the Confusion Spell or some other illusion, but to no avail; the long passageway remained.

"Huh? Where's Gary?" Bai Lin asked.

Only then did everyone realize that Gary, who had just appeared in front of them and was running towards them, had suddenly disappeared.

"This place is too eerie! Let's try going back to the embassy!" Blanco said. With that, he was the first to use Apparition, but he only jumped in place and achieved nothing.

The other Aurors tried it one by one and finally confirmed that they were trapped. Not only did Bai Lin's Apparition not work, but summoning Phineas in his mind also seemed to have no effect at all.

A sense of dread crept up my spine. Wizards are incredibly powerful humans, but that power is built on their mastery of magic. One day, when they lose their magic, they might be no better than ordinary people.

Even though Aurors are among the best wizards, they are still terrified of areas they know nothing about, but they don't immediately break down like ordinary people.

"Maybe the passage is in those rooms we just left!" Blanco whispered, terrified but still trying to analyze the situation rationally.

"Should we go forward or backward?" an Auror asked.

Blanco looked ahead and then behind, and was stunned. After looking back and forth a few times, he realized that he couldn't tell which direction was ahead and which was behind.

"Perhaps it's a mental spell, like the techniques of Dementors and vengeful spirits..." Bai Lin drew his wand and shouted, "Exorcist's Call!"

A giant golden owl appeared on Bai Lin's wand. Blanco and the three Aurors stared wide-eyed. They had only ever seen silver Patronus, never golden ones, and neither their size nor their realism was unheard of.

The eagle owl let out a loud cry, and instantly the murals on both sides of the passageway seemed to be powered on, emitting a faint golden light.

Bai Lin's heart skipped a beat. Perhaps he had stumbled upon this by accident. The owl was a symbol of the Egyptian sun god, and his abilities were closely related to the sun god. It might actually work.

Just as Bai Lin had predicted, the surrounding walls, like snake scales, began to move. To everyone's astonishment, the nearest wall opened up like a human mouth, revealing an entrance.

Without saying a word, Bai Lin crawled inside.

The interior was quite spacious, resembling a huge steam workshop. At a glance, there were at least four enormous steam engines connected by a circular conveyor belt. In the middle were furnaces still burning with flames and dozens of anvils, with countless hammers, drills, and other tools scattered everywhere.

"This is a secret script workshop!" Bai Lin said. Everyone was shocked, and when they turned around, the entrance had disappeared again.
