Pirate: I'm about to do something big!
Chapter 53 Training
Naval Headquarters, outside Marineford, at the new campus plaza of the Naval Academy.
"Rubber..." Ten-year-old Luffy looked at Sentomaru, who was more than a decade older than him and carrying a battle axe on his shoulder. He stretched his arms back to their maximum length, clenched his fists, and shouted, "Pistol!"
Sentomaru neither dodged nor evaded, picking his nose with a disdainful expression.
"Why do little brats like you have to shout out their moves before they even start?"
Sentomaru complained, but with a thrust of his big belly, he easily deflected Luffy's still-unmastered Gum-Gum Pistol. Luffy was sent flying by Sentomaru's defense, but he had a smug smile on his face.
The instant Luffy was flung away by Sentomaru, Ace and Sabo arrived on either side of Luffy, each grabbing Luffy's hands before he could retract them, allowing Luffy to be pulled a further distance by Sentomaru's counterattack.
"Rubber... Rocket!"
Ace and Sabo released Luffy's hands, and Luffy transformed into an arrow, heading straight for Sentomaru's face at an even faster speed.
Ok?
Sentomaru was initially surprised by Luffy's combat intelligence, but still didn't react much. He struck first, using the flat of the battle axe he was carrying on his shoulder to knock down Luffy who was attacking from the air.
"I told you not to shout out your moves when you're fighting, you brat!"
Luffy was swatted down from mid-air by Sentomaru like a fly being swatted. Sentomaru still looked at Luffy, who was lying on the ground with tears in his eyes, clutching a large bump on his head, with disdain.
"Even if you are Mr. Garp's grandson, I can't just ignore your clamor to go to sea and become a pirate."
"Damn it, I'm going to be the freest man on the sea!"
what?
Sentomaru didn't understand why the freest man on the sea had any necessary connection with being a pirate. As for why he knew Luffy was Garp's grandson, it was because Alyosha had given Luffy's full name to the headquarters after the recruitment was completed.
Garp also frankly admitted that Luffy is his grandson, and it's not surprising that Sentomaru, as a junior who has a close relationship with Kizaru, knew this news.
However, it seems that no one in the headquarters knows who Garp's son is. No, it should be that only Sengoku knows the inside story. Even Akainu only found out that Luffy is Dragon's son when Luffy's background was fully exposed during the Marineford War, and regarded him as an evil that must be eradicated.
However, as Vegapunk's bodyguard, Sentomaru has killed countless pirates with ulterior motives over the years. So when he heard Garp's grandson Luffy say that he wanted to be the freest man on the sea and a pirate, he couldn't help but reprimand him, which led to this small conflict.
Seeing that Luffy was stubborn and wouldn't listen to reason, Sentomaru lost interest. He had been forced into this position by Kizaru simply so that he could quickly return as a full-fledged Marine to protect Vegapunk.
Just as he was about to turn around and discuss it with Alyosha, he also noticed that two shadows at his feet were gradually growing larger.
Ok?
Sentomaru looked up and saw Ace and Sabo descending from the sky, each holding a water pipe and slapping Sentomaru on the head.
Having successfully launched a sneak attack, Luffy, despite the pain, sat on the ground and laughed heartily.
Ace and Sabo also stood on either side of Luffy, their faces showing smug smiles.
"Don't make fun of Luffy's dream so easily, you watermelon-headed idiot."
"Are you two also Mr. Garp's grandsons?"
Despite being hit in the head with a water pipe by Ace and Sabo, Sentomaru remained calm with an expression of displeasure. His face darkened, clearly indicating that the three brothers had provoked his anger.
He clenched his fist, ready to teach the three brothers in front of him a real lesson.
"Wait a minute, Mr. Sentomaru, please don't use violence against the child."
"Mr. Peng is right, Mr. Sentomaru. As adults, we have a greater responsibility to teach children that they cannot resort to violence."
Seeing that Sentomaru seemed to be really angry, T. Penn, the "Shipbreaker," quickly came over to persuade him, as did Cyrus, who had been a father for several years.
Although one was in the Grand Line and the other in the New World, they were the first to get along because they were of similar age and had similar personalities, and they were quite patient in educating their children.
They didn't try to persuade Luffy and his brothers earlier because Sentomaru just wanted to teach them a small lesson, but now that they see things aren't going well, they all rush over to comfort them.
Meanwhile, Law, who was also a new recruit, was taken away from Doflamingo by Alyosha as Baby-5. Buffalo and Sugar watched the conflict that could erupt at any moment on the field with a mix of unease and excitement.
Kera and Kuina, who had come looking for them, also looked uneasy.
Just then, Alyosha's voice rang out from the playground.
"Excuse me, could you please let me pass?"
Alyosha's figure swept past the two sides about to clash, Sentomaru's battle axe disappeared from his hand, and Luffy and his two brothers were pulled aside.
Alyosha changed into a naval cadet training uniform, looked at the cadets—some volunteering, some recruited by him—with a smile, and whistled.
When the whistle blew, T. Penn, Cyrus, and Sentomaru were the first to line up. All three had served in the military and knew what the whistle meant.
Among the little ones, Sabo was the first to react, immediately pulling Luffy and Ace to stand in front of Alyosha. The other little ones followed suit, lining up in a row.
Alyosha looked at the row of little guys standing in front of him and nodded in satisfaction.
These are all future naval forces; it would be a huge loss not to train them into the core of our future naval forces that will eventually rise to prominence in the world.
"Very good. From now on, I, Alyosha Ran, will be your instructor and teacher. The justice I uphold is the justice of fairness. Now, tell me your dreams."
"My name is Monkey D. Luffy, and I will become the freest man on the sea, searching for treasure!"
When Alyosha spoke, Luffy was the first to step forward. Even though he was in Marineford, the main base of the Marines, he still loudly proclaimed his unwavering dream.
"Ottosak Sabo, I want to escape my country, the Kingdom of Goa, and be a free man without constraints."
"Portgas Ace, do I have any other choice but to be a pirate? Tsk."
"Trafalgar Law, dreams of killing Donquixote Doflamingo, and as for the rest, I don't know..."
"Kera, I want to become stronger so I can help Mr. Tiger and the others!"
"Shimotsuki Kuina, I want to become... to become the first female swordswoman to be renowned throughout the world!"
"Peacock, Grandma told me that I can learn how to manage subordinates from Teacher Ran."
"Cloud, Lark, Dad said Mr. Ran is a peace-loving navy man."
The voices of these little guys varied in volume, but they were all transmitted by Zephyr, who was sitting on the parade ground, to a group of high-ranking officers watching the show at the Marine Headquarters building through the Den Den Mushi in his arms.
There weren't many high-ranking members, just Sengoku, Garp, Akainu, Aokiji, Kizaru, and Vice Admiral Tsuru. Listening to the voices coming from the Den Den Mushi, especially the extremely rebellious remarks of Luffy and his two brothers, made the already displeased Akainu almost bite off the cigar in his mouth.
"Calm down, Sakazuki."
Noticing that the room temperature was rising rapidly, Sengoku quickly spoke up to remind him.
Despite his displeasure at being reminded by Sengoku, Akainu could only suppress his anger and continue watching the live broadcast brought by frontline reporter Zephyr.
On the playground of the new school building, Alyosha nodded after listening to the boys' speeches about their dreams, and also explained his teaching plan for the boys' training at the Navy Headquarters.
"Very well, none of you have ever considered becoming marines, so I won't train you the way marines do. Now, listen to my orders. T. Penn, Cyrus, Sentomaru, stay behind. The rest of you, come with me. Destination: Marineford Dairy Factory! Let's go!"
Alyosha arrived at the side and in front of the group of children, looking at the town of Marineford, which was a few kilometers away and was composed of naval families, and ran forward.
As for Luffy, a single-celled organism, the moment he heard Alyosha mention the dairy factory, he immediately associated it with food, and without Alyosha even asking him to come, he followed along.
Seeing Luffy like this, Sabo and Ace, who were behind him in line, had no choice but to call out to Luffy and follow him.
In the blink of an eye, Alyosha seemed to have become the leader of this group of little guys, leading them straight to the dairy factory in Marineford.
Alyosha's method of training trainee marines, which was different from what he did, left the high-ranking officers in the headquarters building and Zephyr on the parade ground dumbfounded.
Everyone looked at each other in bewilderment, including Akainu, an extremist. He had not yet considered the possibility that Alyosha's training methods could correct these misguided kids.
Only Sentomaru, T. Penn, and Cyrus remained on the playground, clueless about the situation, along with Zephyr, who was laughing heartily.
"Hey, Zephyr, what do you think Ran is trying to do?"
Sengoku's voice came through Zephyr's Den Den Mushi. No one at Marineford headquarters knew more about training marines than Zephyr.
"Who knows, Sengoku? But let's just keep watching. Maybe Ran will give us a surprise, right? Hahaha."
In response to Sengoku's question, Zephyr also became a riddle teller. As for Alyosha, one of his former students, Zephyr had a general idea of how Alyosha wanted to train these youngsters. He had only seen this method of training marines when Alyosha was training his own fleet of marines.
Now, it's time to open the eyes of those old buddies from the Warring States period.
