Chapter 90 The Battle of New York 2
Chapter 90 The Battle of New York Part 2
"Damn it, why did he choose my building?" Tony Stark's face darkened, and he turned and stormed out.
Link said, "Captain, lead the team to depart in the Quinjet. If it flies fast, head to New York immediately."
"Director Fury, seal off all nuclear warheads!"
Nick Fury paused, then nodded solemnly, turned to Maria Hill, and said, "Agent Hill, you will lead your team to immediately seal off all nuclear warheads. No aircraft that can still take off are allowed to carry them."
"All fighter jets are loaded with air-to-air missiles; those that can take off are sent out."
"Yes, sir!" Hill immediately led his men out of the command room.
Link turned and left after speaking, simultaneously donning his battle suit. "Alfred, immediately contact Jessica, McCall, Frank, and the Osborn father and son. Have them evacuate the Osborn Building and then hide in the 'Gym'!"
"Drive my car out to Stark Tower."
"Yes, sir!" Alfred can only control one vehicle, which is the Suburban modified by Link.
Link arrived on the deck and immediately initiated flight. He was still holding the scepter, and he was a step ahead of Stark, since Stark's armor was not so easy to put on.
"Boom!" It accelerated at full speed, hoping to get to the scene as quickly as possible, but Stark was not slow either, and soon caught up from behind.
Link was helpless. His flight was more agile, but his speed was not as good as Link's, unless he flew himself.
Stark overtook him first, heading straight for New York, leaving Link to follow behind.
"Lin, what happened?" Jessica suddenly asked.
"Where are you?" Link asked immediately. "Tell Tracy to go to the gym too, to the shooting range in the basement."
"New York is about to become a battlefield; aliens are about to invade."
"What?" Jessica was taken aback.
"There's no time to say more. Be quick and be ready to put on your battle suit at any moment. If you can arrive on time, don't expose yourself," Link reminded him.
"Understood." Jessica wasn't an indecisive woman. She knew Link's true strength, so she wasn't worried about his safety at all. Now, all she had to do was not become a burden to him.
Stark returned to Stark Tower first, where there were still Chitauri soldiers, though not many, and the machines were already running.
Stark fired a shockwave that killed the Chitauri soldiers, then landed and hovered above the machine.
He looked at Dr. Sevier and said, "Doctor, turn it off."
"It's too late. It's already activated. Even if you shut down the building's power, it won't work. It is the power source itself." Dr. Eric Sevig looked up as a blue beam of light shot into the sky.
Hundreds of meters above Stark Tower, energy is gathering, and a spatial portal is slowly opening.
Link arrived at this point, then looked up at the sky and smacked his lips.
Stark raised his hand, aimed it at the machine, and unleashed an energy blast—"Boom!"
An energy shield was protecting the machine; this was formed by the energy diffusion after the Cosmic Cube was activated.
The impact spread, pushing Dr. Sevig away and physically rebooting his head. Link didn't try to wake him up, after all, he shouldn't know too much.
"Sir, your car has arrived," Alfred's voice rang out.
Link said to Stark, "I'll go get my weapons, Tony, get ready for battle!"
"We must stop these aliens from spreading."
"Understood. I'll go change into a new suit of armor too. It's one I just developed, and it has more weapons." Stark turned and flew into the building.
Link flew downwards and landed on the ground. Ignoring the stares of the people around him, he opened the back door of the car, took out a tactical vest, and began to arm himself.
He brought a modified M4A1 carbine with top and bottom tactical rails, on which was mounted a 2x scope, a vertical grip, and a collapsible stock.
He always carries a pistol, a Glock 17 on his right thigh, and now he tries to carry as many magazines as possible.
The flight skateboard detached from his back and hovered beside him. Link attached four ammo boxes to the four attachment points on the bottom of the flight skateboard.
Finally, they took an M249 machine gun out of the car and attached an ammunition box to it. However, the ammunition box only contained two hundred rounds of ammunition, which was what the flying skateboard was attached to.
The flying skateboard was too heavy to carry, and Link could only stand on it, as it lifted him into the air and flew towards the spatial portal.
Sirens blared near Stark Tower. The NYPD was notified and immediately evacuated people within a ten-kilometer radius of Stark Tower and established a defensive perimeter.
Nick Fury isn't doing nothing; he's deployed all the available fighter jets and notified the NYPD to evacuate the crowd—that's what a S.H.I.E.L.D. director should do.
The space carrier approached New York, but it was not to participate in the battle; its purpose was not to engage in combat, but rather to provide a close landing site for fighter jets.
The space passage is fully open, but we need to wait a while to ensure its stability.
Link set up his machine gun and waited for the Chitauri to come in. Stark had already changed into his armor and also arrived at the entrance.
"Lin, how's it going?" Stark asked. "Are you confident?"
Link said, "We have to fight, whether we have it or not, but we need to know how to close the spatial portal. We'll have to ask Dr. Sevig for that."
"His brain has been physically rebooted; we don't know when he'll wake up. Let Natasha ask him later!"
At that moment, the Chitauri army could no longer contain themselves, and the first wave began to enter the passage.
"Ready!" Link said. "I'll go first!"
"Whoosh~" The first spacecraft passed through the space portal, and Link immediately opened fire, "Rat-a-tat~"
A single burst of fire hit the pilot of the aircraft directly. Each aircraft was accompanied by two Chitauri soldiers, and Link naturally wouldn't let them go, so he used short bursts of fire.
After all, his ammunition is limited, and he must conserve it. Using a flying skateboard is not suitable for him in aerial combat, as it is not flexible enough.
"Rat-a-tat-tat..." Bullet casings were constantly being thrown out. The Chitauri couldn't see Link because they couldn't see him clearly from their perspective. However, Link was hiding on the outer edge of the spatial passage and moving along the edge.
They didn't give them a chance to figure out their position; their play was incredibly skillful, leaving Stark in awe.
This agent is different, not only in marksmanship but also in his actions.
However, the Chitauri didn't care about casualties at all, and it was unclear whether they had issued new orders. The number of aircraft that came out began to increase, with three or four aircraft appearing at a time.
