Chapter 68 Captain America
Chapter 68 Captain America
This was merely to let Link know the situation: Earth faces a considerable number of aliens, and they are extremely powerful, making them difficult to harm with ordinary weapons.
Coulson didn't wear the armor when he was in New Mexico because it wasn't there, and there wasn't enough time to transport it when the Destroyer appeared.
It was later estimated that the Iron Monger was insufficient to damage the aliens' weapons, especially since Thor could control lightning, which was even more worrying.
Coulson informed Link that he would be going on a secret mission and would no longer be responsible for communicating with Link, asking Link to go to the New York office the next day.
Link hung up the phone without thinking too much about it. He knew all this and didn't care. He needed time. It would probably be another year or two before the Avengers storyline came out.
The idea of going to the New York branch really piqued his interest!
……
After seeing Jessica off the next day, he drove off to the New York precinct.
Maria Hill is here. "Lin, I've sent you here with a task for you!"
"What mission?" Link asked.
"You'll see soon enough." Maria Hill led Link to a medical room. Through the transparent glass, they could see that most of the people inside were wearing protective suits, and they were all surrounding one person.
Link then realized that this was Captain America, Steve Rogers!
Was he just brought back?
"Steve Rogers, Captain America!" Maria Hill said. "We just found him, and thawing him requires extreme care."
"Why are you making me watch him?" Link asked.
“He has been asleep for decades, after all, and we are worried that he will not be able to accept reality, so we are going to let him adapt slowly,” Maria Hill said. “Come with me.”
Soon, they arrived at an open space with a huge area where workers were building a room, surrounded by backdrops.
"This is a ward built in the style of World War II. We plan to wake him up here and let him slowly accept reality."
Link smiled and said, "He's a soldier, and he often goes deep behind enemy lines. Do you think he'd be lacking in vigilance?"
"I reckon he'll figure it out quickly."
"No, we've made very thorough arrangements, but just in case, we hope you'll be there when he wakes up," Maria Hill said.
"Sure, but there's a problem. He's a super soldier. I might not be able to stop him without hurting him!" Link warned the other party in advance.
"Don't worry, we have plenty of people." Maria Hill said, then turned and left, with Link following her.
"We'll let you know in a few days; you can go back now."
"Okay, I'll wait for your call." Link left.
I'll continue studying at home. The thawing process probably won't be short, since it needs to be done without damage, which will take a considerable amount of time.
Nick Fury is probably very excited now, having found Captain America and having a superhero is a huge step forward for his Avengers plans.
Compared to Hawkeye, Black Widow, and even Link, the Grim Reaper, Captain America is more valuable and even more trustworthy.
……
Link stayed at home reading papers, constantly accumulating his knowledge base, and at the same time using the papers to test his knowledge.
This is a good idea. The paper contains many arguments, which allows Link to verify their validity and broaden his thinking.
He learned from books, but the real knowledge and experience were in the hands of the professors. He read papers to enrich his knowledge and to develop his flexible thinking skills.
Modern science is highly specialized, but Link is preparing to study major subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology, and most importantly, mathematics.
Mastering all the knowledge of a major discipline is essential, as there are connections between disciplines, and mathematics is a fundamental subject that must be mastered.
Continue buying books, then quickly read them, and then look at academic papers.
When his thesis failed to achieve its intended effect, Link would go to the university to seek more knowledge. His study's bookshelves were already overflowing with books, all of which Link had read. He felt he needed a library.
Now, he finally had the mindset of a wealthy person and directly bought a library in Hell's Kitchen and renovated it to increase the space for books. He was preparing to collect a large number of books.
In Manhattan, where land is incredibly valuable, even Hell's Kitchen is starting to change.
Some libraries seem out of place because they don't create any value; it would be better to sell them and build high-rises instead. Some libraries have already been sold.
After Link bought a library, he began collecting all kinds of books, but the books he collected were not related to humanities; they were all science books, including some scientific journals.
Library buildings are usually quite large, with high ceilings on each floor. Now, one floor has been converted into two floors. Although it feels a bit cramped, the book collection can be more than doubled.
Link hired many employees to classify and register all the books, and to avoid purchasing books from the existing collection.
……
"Lin, come to the precinct right away," Maria Hill called.
Link left the library immediately. Although it was still under renovation, it did not affect his reading. He had been reading there during the day recently.
He drove directly to the precinct, where someone took him to the "Little Theater," a place that had been converted for Steve Rogers, which Link jokingly called the Little Theater.
Nick Fury was there too, but he was in the monitoring room. "Lin, go in quietly. The doctors estimate the captain won't wake up for another half hour. You're just going in as a precaution."
"Understood!" Link nodded, then quietly went inside.
Nick Fury and his men were watching from the monitoring room. The hidden cameras were very well concealed, and everyone was waiting for Captain America to wake up.
After a while, Steve Rogers woke up and looked around in confusion at his surroundings: a clean, white hospital room with a curtain drawn over the open window, letting the wind blow in from outside.
There was a slight commotion outside, and a baseball game was playing on the radio.
Link's super hearing allowed him to hear the sounds inside clearly, as if everything was flawless.
A female agent dressed in a World War II-era military uniform pushed open the door and walked in!
As expected, an unexpected incident occurred: the baseball game was being broadcast incorrectly. Steve Rogers had watched the game live. Is it reasonable for S.H.I.E.L.D. to make such a mistake?
