Hogwarts: The Witch Education Handbook
Chapter 35 Did your family build this road?
Kellona's signature purple headscarf was now covered by a loose black cloak.
That's why Sean was able to recognize him.
Even from a great distance, he could faintly smell the garlic odor on Quirrell.
It's so pungent!
Following Quirrell, Sean followed him to a side street off the main street from the post office on Central Avenue. He watched Quirrell enter a bar at the intersection.
A tattered wooden sign hangs on a rusty frame above the bar door, depicting a severed pig's head, its blood soaking through the white cloth wrapped around it.
Without a doubt, this is the Hog's Head pub, owned by Dumbledore's brother, Aberforth Dumbledore.
The Pig Head Bar is a bar on the first floor and a hotel on the second floor. The bar has only one small, dark, and very dirty room that smells strongly of mutton.
Thick grime had accumulated on the bay windows, making it almost impossible for outside light to penetrate, and some candle stubs were lit on the rough wooden table.
At first glance, the ground appears to be compacted mud, but upon stepping on it, one discovers that centuries of grime have accumulated on what was originally a stone-paved surface.
Unlike the patrons of the Three Broomsticks, the Pig's Head has many customers who cover their faces completely, and it's not crowded, making it relatively quiet. Therefore, conversations here are more likely to be overheard.
Sean changed into the black cloak he had worn when he went to Knockout Alley, covering his face, and went inside.
He had just sat down when a tall, thin old man with wispy gray hair and a beard walked over from Quirrell's table.
Sean recognized the old man immediately because he was also wearing glasses, behind which were a pair of bright blue eyes—the same eyes as Albus.
"What would you like?" Aberforth asked coldly.
"A butterbeer."
Sean was initially just curious why Quirrell had disguised himself to come to the Hog's Head pub, but when he saw the tall Hagrid playing cards and talking about Fantastic Beasts in the distance, he instantly understood Quirrell's plan.
He wanted to get information out of Hagrid about how to deal with Cerberus.
That's exactly what he did in the original story.
No wonder, even Snape got bitten on the leg when he tried to get past Fulwe.
With Quirrell's limited skills, he simply couldn't force his way in.
So he turned his attention to Hagrid, Fluffy's master.
Could he use this as a lever to do something?
For example...
However, this needs to be considered in the long run. Anyway, there is still plenty of time. He has more than two months to prepare before the Christmas holidays arrive.
Next, it's time to enjoy a delicious butterbeer.
Sean had drunk a lot of butterbeer from bars.
The best butterbeer is from the Three Brooms Bar.
It needs to be clearly stated here that his fondness for drinking at the Three Brooms Bar was absolutely not because the bar's owner, Ms. Rosmerta, was a charming and curvaceous lady.
Please remember, absolutely not.
Everything has a best and a worst.
The worst thing is the butterbeer that's right in front of Sean, which Aberforth just served him.
The grime on it was even greasier than Snape's hair, which immediately killed Sean's interest in tasting it.
Sean had originally planned to finish his butterbeer and leave, but now he had to sit and listen to other people's conversations or information to make up for the Galleons he had spent on the butterbeer.
He heard three men in black talking quietly around him.
"Do you know about the Gringotts theft that happened a while ago?"
"Of course, everyone knows that."
"The Daily Prophet says that a mysterious person broke into Gringotts and then managed to escape."
"Hmph, I don't believe it." The first man in black showed a disdainful look. "Those fairies are known for their tight security measures. They practically stuff Galleons up their anuses. How could they be easily broken in by outsiders? Maybe there's a problem within their own ranks."
"I think it's unlikely." Another man in black robes took a sip of butterbeer to moisten his throat. "This kind of thing would only damage their reputation. Smart fairies wouldn't do something like digging their own grave."
Sean stared intently at the mysterious man they were talking about, the one who had instigated the whole thing, who was only two tables away from them.
"Tell me, what exactly did the thief steal?" the first man in black robes suddenly asked.
"Is that even a question? It's definitely Galleons. What in this world is more tempting than Galleons?"
I don't think so.
"If he can break into Gringotts, then he must be very skilled and probably doesn't lack Galleons."
"So what do you think it is?"
"It must be something more secretive."
"For example?"
"I think it's a powerful alchemical tool."
"wrong."
"I think Galleon is more reliable."
"..."
Hearing this pointless conversation, Sean's face, hidden beneath his cloak, twitched slightly.
That wasted another ten precious minutes of his time.
Quirrell, who was standing nearby, probably thought so too. His shoulders slumped, and he looked impatient. After a few minutes, he got up and prepared to leave.
With no more fun, Sean followed suit, just as he reached the village entrance and was about to leave.
Quirrell suddenly emerged from the shadows.
"Friend, why are you following me?" Quirrell said in a sinister tone.
"Following you? Did you build this road? What a joke."
Quirrell was taken aback by Sean's answer; he clearly hadn't expected such a response. He stared intently at Sean, trying to glean something from the expression hidden beneath his mask.
But Sean simply met his gaze calmly, without the slightest hint of panic on his face.
"Hmph, don't think I don't know what you're thinking. You've been watching me in the shadows, do you think I didn't notice?" Quirrell sneered, his tone laced with threat.
However, Sean was not intimidated by his threat.
He chuckled and said, "Observing from the shadows? I was just enjoying my butterbeer and listening to everyone's conversation. But you, jumping out to question me so urgently, do you have some kind of secret you're hiding?"
Quirrell's face instantly turned ugly. He glared at Sean and vanished from Sean's sight in a flash.
