Chapter 49 The Boy and Girl Hidden in Hagrid's Hut

The knocking grew louder, and Harry saw that Hagrid had gotten up to open the door, so he had no choice but to pull Ron into a corner to hide—even though he was certain there was a fourth person hiding in the room.

But now is really not a good time to investigate.

"Good evening, Hagrid." The speaker was Headmaster Dumbledore, accompanied by a middle-aged man with a very strange appearance and an anxious expression. He was probably the one who had been banging on the door and urging him to hurry up.

“It’s Cornelius Fudge! The Minister of Magic, my dad’s boss!” Ron said in a low voice, surprised.

Harry sized up the Minister of Magic: he was short and stocky, with messy gray hair, wearing a pinstripe suit and a bright red tie, but with strange purple pointed boots and a dark green top hat tucked under his arm—the mismatched colors made the man look like a bizarre hodgepodge.

Hagrid, however, did not find the man's clothes laughable. From the moment he saw the Minister of Magic enter, his face turned pale, sweat beaded on his forehead, and he staggered and fell into a chair.

“This is terrible, Hagrid,” Minister Fudge said quickly. “Four attacks have occurred. This is very bad. I had to come. The Ministry of Magic must take action.”

“I didn’t,” Hagrid pleaded, the fervor in his voice clear to everyone in the room, “you know that, Professor Dumbledore, please…”

“I want you to understand, Connery, that I have complete faith in Hagrid,” Headmaster Dumbledore immediately vouched for Hagrid.

“Albus, there’s nothing I can do. Hagrid’s criminal record is bad for him,” Minister Fudge said awkwardly. “The Ministry of Magic has to take some measures. We’ve already contacted the Board of Trustees.”

“I’m telling you, taking Hagrid away won’t do any good.” Dumbledore’s eyes flashed with an unprecedented rage.

Harry didn't understand what they were saying, but he continued to hold his breath and listen attentively until Minister Fudge suggested taking Hagrid to Azkaban.

Harry had already learned from Ron that Azkaban was a wizarding prison with the most terrifying prison guards in the world, which explained why Hagrid's voice was trembling with fear.

Just then, there was another knock at the door, and Headmaster Dumbledore went to open it.

A middle-aged man with platinum blond hair strode into Hagrid's cabin. He was completely wrapped in a long black cloak, and a chilling smile was on his face.

He is Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy's father, and the current head of the Malfoy family.

Harry couldn't help but let out a small gasp, and there seemed to be an echo not far away. Ron had to give Harry a hard elbow to remind him to be quiet.

“You’ve arrived, Minister,” Lucius Malfoy said with satisfaction.

"What are you doing here?" Hagrid said angrily. "Get out of my house."

The middle-aged man in platinum let out a sneer, his face clearly saying, "You call this a house?"

“I’m here to see the headmaster. The board of directors believes Dumbledore should leave…” Lucius Malfoy pulled out a dismissal order, claiming that all twelve board members had signed it to expel Dumbledore from the school.

Harry was both angry and terrified when he heard the news from a corner. He couldn't imagine a castle without Headmaster Dumbledore. Besides, if even Dumbledore couldn't stop the petrification, who could?

"What did you say?" Minister Fudge clearly shared Harry's thoughts, and he exclaimed in a panic, "Dumbledore has been dismissed... No, no, no, if Dumbledore can't do it, who can?"

But Dumbledore's dismissal was a foregone conclusion, and Harry and Ron could see the sly smile on Malfoy's face even through the Invisibility Cloak.

Hagrid abruptly stood up, roaring at Lucius Malfoy about how much threat and blackmail he had used to force the others to agree to his removal.

But Dumbledore calmly stopped Hagrid and stated that if the school board wanted him to leave, he would naturally give up his position.

“However,” Headmaster Dumbledore said slowly and clearly before leaving, so that everyone present could hear every word he said, including those hiding in the corner wearing invisibility cloaks, “I will only truly leave this school when everyone here betrays me. You will also find that at Hogwarts, those who ask for help always receive help.”

The moment he finished speaking, Dumbledore glanced at the corner of the room, but the adults in the room did not notice.

Then, as if infected by the virus, Hagrid left a nonsensical remark into the air: "If anyone is looking for something, just follow the spider!"

The group left Hagrid's cabin.

The instant the door slammed shut, Harry ripped off his Invisibility Cloak, waved his wand at a spot not far away, and shouted:

"Except your weapons!"

A dazzling red light shot out, but missed.

"Stand still, dead!" A platinum-colored head suddenly appeared in the air and retaliated against Harry without hesitation.

"Malfoy!" Harry dodged the spell and roared, "You must have known from your father that Dumbledore had been dismissed, and you came to watch the show, didn't you!"

"It's burning hot!" Draco Malfoy on the other side wanted to continue attacking Harry, but a dark-haired girl suddenly appeared in the air, grabbed him, and made the spell miss.

"Lyra?" Ron and Harry exclaimed in surprise.

"Good evening, Harry, Ron." Lyra folded a soft, silver-white coat and handed it to Malfoy. He took it but turned his face away angrily, not wanting to see the black-haired girl. He was clearly still upset about the attack that had just been stopped.

Harry suspected that it was also an invisibility cloak, just not as good as the one he had, but that wasn't the point.

"Lyra, why are you with Malfoy?"

"Lyra, why are you hiding in Hagrid's cabin?"

Harry and Ron simultaneously posed the profound question.

“Well, after Hermione was attacked today, I felt really sad,” Lyra explained calmly. “I thought the Malfoy family would know more, so I asked them about the heir, and then they took me to see the scene where the ‘criminal’ was caught.”

"Hagrid is not a criminal!" Harry growled, his eyes red.

Ron looked at Lyra standing next to Malfoy, then at the angry Harry, and was somewhat at a loss.
