Chapter 33 The Snake-like Voice That Makes You Envious and Jealous
“I’m so envious of Harry,” Lyra sighed as she cast a cleanse charm on the muddy footprints on the path at the edge of the Forbidden Forest to prevent Hagrid from discovering that someone had sneaked into the forest. “I wish I had that ability.”
The twins beside them, one of them was responsible for using a wand to cast a glowing spell to light up the way for everyone, while the other carried a gathering box—the three sheep-plucking duo were preparing to sneak into the Forbidden Forest to gather some useful herbs, taking advantage of the fact that there was no rain that night.
“Harry speaks Parseltongue, he can only talk to snakes,” George nimbly leaped over a piece of rotten wood covered with spiders the size of a palm. “You wouldn’t be thinking of keeping a snake as a pet, would you?”
“I think this is a good idea,” Fred said, always eager to stir up trouble. “We can suggest that Harry do this: when he encounters those annoying Slytherins, he can order his pet snake to show its fangs and bite them, fighting fire with fire, and infuriating those Slytherins.”
“Oh, then we could give Harry a poisonous snake as a Christmas present,” Lyra chimed in enthusiastically, joining the fantasy. “But what I’d really like is the ability to communicate with all sorts of animals—”
“Generally speaking, this ability is an innate talent, but sometimes it’s not all good,” George recalled. “I heard my dad say that there was once a wizard who had the ability to communicate with some animals, but in contrast, his other abilities were greatly limited, and his overall magic was probably only slightly better than a Squib.”
"And I've heard that because of the ability to communicate with animals, it's easy to be influenced mentally, and people will prefer to be with animals rather than humans," Fred added. "Ultimately, they gradually develop a distancing themselves from people, spending all their time with animals, and behaving more like wild beasts."
“So Merlin is fair; he gives some and takes some away,” George said, ruffling Lyra’s hair when she wasn’t looking. “That’s what Dad always says.”
“I just think this ability is very useful. For example,” Lyra retaliated by using a dry branch to flick a large spider at George, who nimbly dodged it, “if we could communicate with animals, we could command the animals in the Forbidden Forest to guide us to the herb-growing areas much faster, or even have them pick the herbs for us and bring them to the castle…”
Lyra thought about it more and more and thought how amazing this ability was. She couldn't help but recall the complicated look Professor Snape gave Harry that night at the Dueling Club.
She now seems to be able to read Professor Snape's eyes back then.
How cool would it be to be able to communicate with animals! Especially to be able to communicate with snakes. The symbol of Slytherin House is the snake, and I bet every Slytherin dreams of having Parsley's voice.
After all, Slytherin is full of snake elements and various snake sculptures and paintings. If you have Parseltongue, you can talk to these snakes and be sure to be able to walk sideways in Slytherin.
Imagine how much easier Professor Snape, as the Head of Slytherin, would be in his job if he had Parseltongue: all the Slytherins in the house would be his eyes and ears, monitoring the students for him year-round without pay.
Professor Snape's eyes were definitely filled with envy, jealousy, and hatred!
Speaking of which, the headmaster is also someone to be envied and resented. As everyone knows, Dumbledore is a language genius who can speak Mermaid and Goblin languages. There are even rumors that he knows more than a hundred languages!
"Tongzi, don't you have any language translation tools or anything? If I could speak Parsley, I could definitely have a much deeper conversation with Medusa at the cellar entrance~"
"Players can only redeem rewards after gaining enough favorability," the system replied indifferently.
"Chief, have you considered improving the reward system?"
"Beep—The system has detected that the player currently has no romance options. Please find a romanceable character as soon as possible!"
"...Fine, I can learn it myself, right?" Leila's eyes lit up, and she came up with a good idea.

When Lyra went to the library to find Harry, she found him arguing with a Hufflepuff boy.
"...Didn't you notice that after I spoke to the snake, it retreated?" Lyra could tell Harry was trying very hard to explain. "I wanted to save him!"
“All I saw,” the Hufflepuff boy insisted, despite trembling with fear of Harry, “was it you who used Parseltongue to urge the snakes to attack Justin!”
“I didn’t urge the snake to attack Justin Finley!” Harry’s voice trembled with anger. “That damned snake didn’t even touch him!”
“Just a little bit more!” the Hufflepuff boy shouted. “I can tell you, I’m Ernie Macmillan, and nine generations of my family have been pure-blood wizards—”
“I don’t care what blood you have!” Harry roared. “I’m not that damned Slytherin heir—”
"Are you telling the truth?" A melodious voice interrupted Harry's anger.
Lyra emerged from the hidden book section behind the group and approached Ernie McMillan. "Ernie—"
Ernie McMillan felt a flutter in his heart when he heard the beautiful dark-haired girl call him by his first name instead of his surname.
"You said Harry is the heir to Slytherin, is that true?" Lyra asked, looking for confirmation.
“That’s right, the mark of a dark wizard is Parsley. And so far, everyone who has angered Potter has been petrified, which is the most obvious and irrefutable proof—” Ernie became even more righteous in front of the beautiful woman.
"You're right—"
Harry couldn't believe that Lyra had sided with Ernie Macmillan; his emerald green eyes were filled with shock, anger, and resentment.
“Since you think Harry is a cruel and vengeful dark wizard, why did you dare offend him in public?” Lyra’s tone shifted. “That’s very dangerous. He might petrify you while you’re asleep tonight, and then tear you to pieces.” Lyra moved closer to Ernie McNeeland, forcing him to stumble back a few steps, and threatened him in a low voice. Finally, almost face to face, she gave the trembling boy a wicked smile. “I guarantee you’ll die a complete and utter death—”
"Aaaaah—" The Hufflepuff boy and his friends were so frightened that they scrambled out of the library.
"Pfft—" Harry couldn't help but laugh out loud. "Thank you, Lyra, and I'm sorry, I just misunderstood and thought you believed McNeeland."
“Oh, it’s nothing,” Leila said with a sly smile, “but if you really feel bad about it, there’s something you can do to make it up to me—”
