HP: I beat the otome game at Hogwarts

Chapter 30 Dedication to the Cause

Leila was initially prepared to refuse them all.

Putting aside the fact that she wasn't afraid at all, there was also a system to protect the players' lives. Even if she were petrified by the heir of the secret room, she would still think it would enrich the players' gaming experience.

Besides, these strange things don't offer any protection at all.

Look at all this junk: stinking onions, oddly shaped crystals, wooden skewers covered in feathers, and all sorts of rotting animal tails.

On Monday morning, she received her first amulet from an admirer. It was from a tall Hufflepuff who sincerely hoped the amulet would protect her. Just as Lyra was about to politely decline, Fred put his arm around her neck, while George stepped forward to accept it for her, praising him warmly for his gentleness and thoughtfulness.

"What mischief are you two up to now?" Seeing that the innocent Hufflepuff was so flattered by George that he almost couldn't find the classroom for the next class, Lyra couldn't help but tap the twins on the head with Lockhart's thick book.

"We just couldn't bear it—"

"It broke these boys' hearts—"

"You know, they're just worried about Gryffindor's most beautiful girl being attacked."

"You can't let down these pure and enthusiastic suitors!"

Seeing that the two were not telling the truth, Leila raised her head with a haughty and aloof air, preparing to draw a line between herself and the two.

“It’s like this,” the twins said, stopping their antics as Leila pretended to walk away, “we heard that many people are planning to buy you amulets.”

"To be precise, it's a lot of boys—"

“So last night we made a batch of amulets—” Fred winked at Lyra, “in preparation for use in the four houses—”

“If you refuse gifts from these admirers—” George continued with a grin, “or claim you don’t believe in these protective charms—”

"Then we'll go bankrupt!" the twins exclaimed in unison.

Considering that she herself was the actual user (she had no intention of using it at all), and that the only harm to consumers would be a slight reduction in their wallets, Leila agreed to let the twins dedicate themselves to their amulet business.

The truth is, Leila knew that these "poor" consumers who had been tricked by the twins would be happier if she accepted the gifts and thanked the givers for their kindness rather than rejecting them all.

According to George, "There were no actual victims in this case."

“It’s actually a win-win situation,” Fred concluded.

Lockhart is no longer Lyra's most disliked person in Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

“Hey, White!” Roger Davis of Ravenclaw called out to Lyra from afar.

Although he was quite popular among the younger female students, Lyra didn't really like that type of guy and was therefore always cold to this Ravenclaw boy, but Roger Davis was persistent.

Whenever two colleges had classes together, no matter how indifferent Lyra was, the other guy would relentlessly pursue her. And the fact that he was making outrageous statements in the boys' dormitory, saying he'd be Lyra White's next boyfriend sooner or later, only made Lyra dislike him more.

"This is a talisman I made myself, and I'm giving it to you." Roger Davis casually flicked his bangs, thinking he looked cool.

"..." Laila looked at the amulet handed to her by the other party. It was a bracelet made of colorful seashells. Just last night, she had seen it in the pile of mass-produced items in the twins' dormitory.

"Thank you, but no need..." Given that she had accepted all the other gifts, refusing this one shouldn't affect Gemini's amulet business, right?

Leila really hated the arrogant boy in front of her.

"Only amulets specially crafted by alchemists have protective effects." At the crucial moment, the blue-eyed knight who guards the princess appears.

“Oh, Dexter!” Lyra’s mood immediately brightened. “Thank you for recommending the spellbook to me at the library last time.”

“You’re welcome. In fact,” the handsome brown-haired, blue-eyed man turned to Roger Davis and continued, “when in real danger, a suitable black magic defense spell is more useful than an ineffective amulet.”

Roger Davis was not pleased to face the heir of the Fosco family and the top student in his own academy, but he ultimately left without further entanglement with Lyra—after all, she was someone he could not afford to offend.

"Lyra, this book is for you." Lyra accepted the thick book from the other person's hand, which looked like it had been there for a long time.

“This is our family’s library, and there are some spells in it that are still very useful in dealing with dangerous situations,” Dexter said sincerely in his blue eyes. “If you need to practice spells, I can be your sparring partner.”

Just as a group of Gryffindors and Ravenclaws were blocking the entrance to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, a group of Slytherins passed by in the corridor, heading upstairs to the Charms classroom.

Draco Malfoy, surrounded by his entourage, walked up the stairs. Somehow, the platinum-haired young master spotted the girl with black hair and gray eyes in the crowd at a glance.

Pansy Parkinson was another person who immediately spotted Lyra White in the crowd.

"Look, it's that Mudblood vase!" Pansy spotted the two Ravenclaw boys giving Lyra White a gift.

"Heh, as expected of a Mudblood who flaunts himself everywhere," Daphne scoffed. "It's a pity that all the gifts he receives are worthless junk."

Blaise glanced at him briefly, then turned to look at Draco. His platinum-plated roommate was staring at the two Ravenclaw boys with veins bulging on his forehead, completely unaware that his emotions were far from normal.

“That’s just superstition,” Theodore Nott rarely joined the conversation. “Amulets that aren’t made by alchemists won’t offer any protection.”

"Hehe, it's a pity those Mongrel and Half-bloods don't know these basic facts." The Slytherin girls covered their mouths and laughed.

“Being born a Muggle is dangerous,” Pansy said, seemingly out of kindness. “Rather than staying in the castle and being eliminated by the heirs of the secret chamber, it’s better to go home early and save your life.”

“Pure-bloods are safe anyway, they don’t need these alchemical products for protection,” Blaise smiled. “Perhaps those who truly need them don’t know where to buy them…”

"Let's go, we're going to be late!" Draco rudely interrupted his friends' conversation and was the first to climb the stairs.

"Damn it, those two red-haired laborers got away."

The twins went to Quidditch training, leaving Lyra alone to struggle back to her dorm with a huge pile of protective gear.

To her surprise, two owls were waiting for her that day.

A familiar brown owl, a strange eagle owl.
