Struggling to survive at Hogwarts

Chapter 40 Midnight Duel

Thea is slowly getting used to the forced nature of the plot. Even though she tries her best to avoid Draco and Harry clashing in flying class, Harry still becomes the Seeker, and Draco also makes a promise to duel with Harry.

However, even if the plot cannot be changed, Thea knows how to navigate among these forces and quietly gain benefits to protect her own life.

Thinking of Neville, who was always unlucky, Thea felt a bit conflicted. After thinking for a moment, she decided to pick out some of the medicine she had brought from the Malfoys' house and send it to him the next day.

With her mind back on track, Thea continued to organize her week's achievements: in terms of academics, she had compiled all the school rules and would strive to apply them in practice in the future.

Thea's progress in studying "The Book of Potions" is a bit slow; she's only about a third of the way through. She plans to finish it completely this weekend.

Thea was not satisfied with the attitude of the study group members. She knew that the main problem of this group was that they lacked motivation, but Thea also thought of how to cure this problem.

After yesterday's "accident" during flight class, Thea has pretty much been seen by those who need to see it. Doing good deeds anonymously is not Thea's style.

Thinking about the duel tonight, Thea slowly curled the corners of her mouth.

"Draco, are you really going to duel with Potter and the others tonight?" Thea called out to Draco as he walked out.

“Of course I’m going!” Draco said firmly.

"You... went alone?" Thea asked, puzzled. She seemed to remember that Draco hadn't gone to the duel. Had something gone wrong?

“Of course I’ll go alone!” Draco said proudly.

"Don't worry, Thea, I can take on both of them by myself!"

Thea was amused by Draco's smug expression. Since Draco's presence or absence wouldn't affect her plans, she jokingly said, "Well, go ahead. I've already prepared the swelling-reducing medicine."

Draco, enraged by Thea's teasing, turned and left, grabbing Theodore, who was watching the commotion, and decided to scout out the location right now, determined to teach Potter a lesson tonight!

Watching Draco's retreating figure, Thea calmly took out her Potions class paper, intending to finish it that night.

The little snake in the lounge saw that Thea was about to do her homework, so it quietly moved away from her, afraid of disturbing her.

At 11 p.m., Draco was tiptoeing out of the lounge when he was startled by Thea sitting on the sofa as he passed it.

Thea didn't expect this guy to be so timid. Worried that Draco would shout, she immediately covered Draco's mouth.

Seeing that Draco had calmed down, Thea informed him, "I'll go with you tonight. I won't do anything; my main responsibility is to get you to the medical wing."

Draco felt that Thea was looking down on him and was about to retort.

But when he met Thea's eyes, he inexplicably flinched, and in the end he still agreed to let Thea go with him.

After discussing the next steps, the two headed towards the prize display room on the fourth floor.

Inside the Grenfenor common room, Hermione cast a petrification spell, freezing Neville, who was blocking their way, in place. Seeing the two boys only looking on in surprise, Hermione said irritably, "Aren't you leaving?"

Harry and Ron then realized what was happening and quickly followed Hermione outside.

The five people eventually met in the prize display room.

Ron saw Thea as soon as he entered and exclaimed, "What are you doing here?"

Ever since his conflict with Thea before the Sorting, Ron has had a particular dislike for this Slytherin. Seeing her here this time, he couldn't help but wonder if this wicked little wizard had some kind of conspiracy.

Ron was still young and hadn't learned to hide his emotions, so Thea could tell what he was thinking at a glance.

Although a little unhappy, Thea said lazily, "I will not participate in your duel, but I will send the injured to the medical wing."

Ron wanted to say something more after hearing Thea's explanation, but Harry and Hermione suppressed him. The two exchanged glances and then looked away in tacit agreement.

Harry and Draco had just gotten into position when, a shrill meow came from afar. Soon after, a hoarse voice, full of malice, rang out: "Oh... Mrs. Norris... is there some little rascal over here who won't sleep...?"

Harry quickly realized what was happening and exclaimed in surprise, "It's Filch and his cat! He's about to find us!"

"Shut up, you blabbermouth!" Draco snapped.

Ron was indignant that his brother had been insulted and immediately tried to retort, but Hermione pulled him away and dragged him outside.

Harry and the others quickly followed, and as they got closer and closer to the room, a smile appeared in Thea's eyes.

The group rushed into a room in a panic, not bothering to see what was inside, and hurriedly slammed the door shut.

The group huddled together at the door, listening to the sounds outside. They only relaxed when Filch's footsteps faded into the distance.

The next second, "Ahhh!"

A chorus of screams erupted as the young wizards stared blankly at the three-headed dog that had taken up almost half the room.

It's unbelievable that they stayed with a wild beast for so long!

The three-headed dog was fast asleep, but the screams of the young wizards were so loud that it slowly opened its eyes.

Harry was closest to the three-headed dog; he could almost feel its breath.

Fortunately, Thea reacted quickly, scooping Harry up and pulling him away from her.

Hermione reacted quickly, immediately opening the door, and the young wizards hurriedly fled.

Without even saying goodbye, the group hurriedly headed towards the lounge.

After a long while, an old man wearing a star-and-moon bathrobe emerged from the corner of the fourth-floor staircase. He walked towards the prize display room, and then came out again shortly afterward, following the route the group had taken to the fourth-floor room where the three-headed dog was kept.

The old man stroked the three-headed dog and waved his wand in mid-air, and Thea and the others' movements appeared in the air.

The old man watched closely as Thea dragged Harry away, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.

A moment later, the old man disappeared from the room.

Inside the Slytherin common room, Thea watched with amusement as Draco paced back and forth on the carpet, almost wearing a hole through it, muttering to himself, "...I'm going to tell my dad!...Dumbledore actually dared to keep such a terrifying creature in the school..."

Thea waved her wand gently, and two vials of potions appeared before her.

Draco looked at Thea with some confusion as she handed him the potions. Thea explained, "These are a calming potion and a dream-free potion, Draco. I think you should need them."

Seeing Thea's good intentions, Draco reluctantly accepted the gift with a sour face.

Goodnight, Draco.
