Struggling to survive at Hogwarts

Chapter 26 Assassination

"Thea, we're going to the Black family this afternoon. Get ready."

Narcissa reminded Thea as soon as she finished breakfast.

Thea nodded obediently. Draco, who was standing nearby, curiously leaned over, but Thea mischievously tapped his head, drawing a furious glare from the young master.

Lucius watched the two children playfully fighting for a while before finally speaking: "Draco, you stay home this afternoon. Your mother and I will go to the Black family with Thea."

Lucius paused, then said, "We'll be back soon."

When his usually authoritative father spoke, Draco could only nod reluctantly.

“Thea, this time we’ll use Floo Powder,” Narcissa explained to Thea.

As a cloud of choking smoke rose, a beam of green light flashed from the fireplace, and Lucius, Narcissa, and Thea disappeared into the fireplace.

As soon as Thea landed, she realized something was wrong.

Whether it's the movies or short videos from the previous life, they all clearly depict the dark, suffocating, and oppressive atmosphere of Blake's old house.

But what Thea saw was a warehouse full of boxes, which had nothing to do with darkness!

"Did I give you the wrong address?" Thea asked doubtfully, then quickly moved to the side of a box, and a silver metal object began to slide out from the sleeve of her right hand.

Feeling the weight of the cold weapon, Thea felt somewhat at ease.

A rough male voice suddenly rang out from outside the door: "...How's it going over there? Have you seen that brat?"

"You guys," Thea was almost certain that this person was definitely after her!

Based on the footsteps, Thea deduced that there was only one person outside, but to avoid being caught off guard, Thea did not rush out. Instead, she quietly sprinkled some powder into the ventilation window, then carefully concealed herself and gripped her weapon tightly once more.

Before long, the footsteps increased in number. Thea recognized about five or six people. The man was somewhat angry: "What's going on over there? How come so many people still can't find that brat?"

"Brother, there are only three fireplaces that have been tampered with, and our men are all guarding them. Maybe they just left late!" the man explained dismissively.

"That's right, brother, you worry too much!" a somewhat shrill male voice rang out.

After hearing his underlings' explanation, the so-called "big brother" thought about it and realized it was indeed possible, so he relaxed.

The powder that Thea had just sprinkled on the ventilation window had taken effect; the wind slowly blew the powder into the room onto the man closest to the window.

At first, the man thought it was just a lot of mosquitoes and didn't think much of it. But as the itching intensified, he realized something was wrong and was about to warn his partner when a sharp pain shot through his forehead! Then came the sound of a bottle shattering.

Thea didn't stop there; instead, she began moving between the boxes, grabbing all the other powders she had on her and preparing to sprinkle them out at any moment.

The loud noise brought everyone to their senses. Since the group had scattered, the older man shouted for everyone to gather together.

Now! Before everyone could react, Thea threw all the powder at them.

The intense pain in their eyes and faces caused several men to scream, and taking advantage of this opportunity, Thea hurled the wand she had taken from the dead man at the box.

"Crushed to pieces!"

"Crushed to pieces!"

Even though the little wizard's magic wasn't very strong, he could still break the boxes, and the fragments temporarily blocked the men's path.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Thea immediately escaped through the warehouse's only door.

She didn't immediately run off the road, but instead quickly climbed up a big tree.

As it turns out, a person's potential is enormous when they are near death. Thea climbed up slowly and finally found a blind spot before the men rushed out.

Thea lay her entire body on the tree branch. The rough trunk rubbed her fingers raw and bleeding. The dense leaves not only covered Thea but also pressed hard against her soft lower abdomen and thighs, but she dared not move.

Thea calmly watched as the leader kicked his underlings a few times, then ordered them to follow the trail.

Everyone had left, but Thea remained motionless, quietly perched on the branch.

She silently calculated the time while adjusting her breathing rhythm.

Not long after, a man suddenly appeared at the intersection – that boss!

When Thea saw him rushing straight toward the warehouse, she immediately pulled out her wand and fired a fire spell at the warehouse!

Thea was secretly alarmed. If she had gone back to the warehouse just now, I might be the one being burned now!

The huge flames burned Thea's skin. The man watched the warehouse burn coldly, and no one cried out for help until the very end. He was extremely disappointed and could only turn and leave.

Thea watched the man leave again, then continued to perch on the branch. Who could guarantee that the man wouldn't come back for a surprise attack?

Thea lay there until the sun set.

Thea was awakened by the sunlight filtering through the leaves. She carefully moved her hands and feet, which felt numb from the blood rushing to them, and her muscles ached from being tense for so long.

Thea carefully moved her body while cautiously observing her surroundings.

Once she regained feeling in her hands and feet and there was nothing unusual around her, Thea, taking advantage of her high position, determined her direction and saw buildings not far away. Only then did Thea carefully climb down from the tree.

Thea leaned against the tree trunk to catch her breath, feeling somewhat relieved that at least the direction those people were chasing was not the same as the direction of the building.

She then trudged quickly toward that direction, her steps uneven.

"Who knows if I'll run into human traffickers the moment I escape from a wizard?"

Based on this idea, Thea did not take the main road, but followed the path, climbing trees from time to time, and continuing on her way only after confirming that she was in the right direction.

It wasn't until the moon was high in the sky, around 10 p.m., that Thea arrived at the settlement.

It was only then that Thea realized that the light-colored long-sleeved shirt and trousers she had worn when she went out were covered in dust and mud, and the little leather shoes on her feet had caused several blisters.

Thea stood alone, shivering, in front of the bakery window. Through the glass, Thea could clearly see her reflection: the bun that Aunt Cici had carefully styled that morning was now completely ruined, with strands of hair scattered about and even leaves stuck in them. Her clothes were covered in mud, which Thea guessed she had gotten on them when she had just fallen.

The bakery owner, seeing a little beggar staring blankly at the window, said with disgust, "Get lost! Little beggar, don't expect me to give you a piece of bread!"

This was the first time in both her past and present lives that Thea had been treated like a beggar and hated by everyone. The feeling was somewhat peculiar, but she still ran to the side.

Thea continued walking until she finished the apple in her hand—which she had just traded for her necklace.

Seeing that no one was around, Thea threw away the apple core, took out her wand, and fired a few "fluorescent flashes".

Then he settled into his seat and began waiting for someone from the Ministry of Magic, or perhaps an owl.
