Struggling to survive at Hogwarts

Chapter 2 A Delightful Counterattack

Thea turned around and saw a blonde girl standing straight in the doorway, looking at her.

Thea looked at the blonde girl's face, and the girl's blonde hair stirred up memories of her.

She is Jennifer, the original owner's roommate. According to the original owner's memories, she is a very well-behaved and sensible girl.

Thea smiled at her roommate: "Jennifer, I want to go downstairs and play."

Jennifer immediately suggested, "Let's go play on the grass!"

“Great!” Being cooped up in the house was awful, and now that she had an excuse to go out, Thea naturally seized the opportunity.

When Thea and Jennifer went downstairs together, they discovered that it wasn't just the medical room that was clean, but the entire place was spotless.

From Thea's perspective, the orphanage was in decent condition. Judging from the overall hygiene, the director must be a person who pays attention to detail.

When Thea and Jennifer got downstairs, they found that the swings were already occupied. Jennifer noticed that Thea was a little down and suggested, "Why don't we sit by the sandpit and sunbathe? The sun feels so nice today."

Thea didn't want to disappoint Jennifer, so she readily agreed. The two of them carried two chairs with backs out of the house and sat down to sunbathe.

Thea nestled comfortably in her chair, observing the children playing nearby.

The children in the orphanage will not go hungry or cold, but that's about it.

The children's clothing and food should come from government funding and donations from caring individuals and charitable foundations. Staff members cannot provide these children with anything beyond their allotted care while they are looking after them.

Even so, the children's clothes, though outdated in style, were washed very clean.

The children chased each other around in the open space, having a great time. Their happy mood was contagious, and Thea's spirits lifted as well.

The warm sunlight gently shone on Thea, and perhaps because she hadn't fully recovered from her illness, Thea couldn't help but feel drowsy.

Before Thea could even close her eyes, a slightly older boy stormed up to her and shouted, "Look! The little monster and her friends are here!"

The harmony on the lawn was broken by the boy's voice. Almost all the children on the grass turned to look at Thea and the boy. Everyone could see that the boy was bullying Thea, but no one stepped forward to stop him. They all tacitly chose to stand by and watch.

Thea's sleepiness was completely shattered by the bratty child. She wanted to retort, but when she caught a glimpse of the other children's reactions, her anger was gradually suppressed by reason, and replaced by a sense of understanding.

Seeing that Thea did not react, the brat's mockery turned into anger under Thea's silence. She immediately raised her arm high, intending to teach this ungrateful little monster a lesson.

Before he could strike, Jennifer suddenly rushed out from behind Thea. "Put your hands down, Andrew! Otherwise, I'll tell Windsor that you bullied Thea again and have Windsor put you in solitary confinement!" Jennifer said angrily.

Andrew was startled by Jennifer's threat, but he quickly retorted angrily, "So what if I tell her? Mrs. Green isn't here, Windsor can't put me in solitary confinement!" He then spat at Thea, "You little monster!"

Thea stepped forward and pulled Jennifer away. Just as Andrew was about to slap Thea, Thea struck first, punching the boy in the left cheek. The sudden force made Andrew wince in pain and fall to the ground. Before Andrew could retaliate, Thea slapped him again.

The sudden reversal stunned everyone present for a moment, and the silence was broken again by the boy's piercing scream.

Thea clapped off non-existent dirt from her hands and sneered, "If you call me a little monster again, I'll beat you every time I see you!"

But Andrew was still yelling, saying, "You wait, Anna will definitely put you in solitary confinement, and I'll let you starve to death in that cell!"

Thea saw that the boy was still being stubborn and was about to teach him another lesson when she was suddenly stopped by a loud shout.

Thea looked up and saw Windsor rushing over, followed by a fat man with a bulbous nose. The man's name was Jim, and he was the orphanage's gatekeeper. Windsor's quick arrival was probably thanks to him.

Windsor practically ran out of the house, something that was absolutely impossible for her. After all, she was usually like the nuns the children had seen before, handling everything calmly and methodically, no matter what happened. It seemed that today's events had truly frightened her.

As Thea was thinking, Windsor angrily shouted at the children around her, "What are you all doing standing here? Go back to your rooms right now!"

Startled by Windsor's shout, the children immediately scrambled towards the stairs. Within moments, only Thea and a few others remained on the lawn.

Windsor didn't ask what happened right away. She first frowned and helped Andrew up, carefully examining his swollen cheeks. Then she comforted him, "Andrew, don't worry, it's just a little swollen. A little medicine will do the trick."

Andrew looked like he was going to complain to Windsor, but he was too scared to say anything because of Windsor's look. When Windsor saw that Andrew had calmed down, she called two of the older children to help him to the infirmary.

After Andrew and the others had walked away, Windsor spoke up: "Thea, Jennifer, you are both good girls, why did you fight?"

"I'm sorry, Windsor. I acted too impulsively. I'll start copying the article seriously tomorrow to make up for my mistake. I promise you, I will never do it again. Windsor, please forgive me?" Thea said sincerely, looking into Windsor's eyes.

Windsor had expected Thea to complain to her and pin all the blame on Andrew, but she was just retaliating. Children of this age often blame others when they make a mistake, and Windsor was used to it.

Unexpectedly, Thea readily admitted her mistake and even proposed copying the article as punishment. Thea was just a clever child, but she was so sensible that the teacher felt embarrassed to lecture her anymore.

Although she was surprised by Thea's actions, Windsor did not show obvious surprise, but her expression softened.

Seeing that Windsor's complexion had improved, Jennifer mustered her courage and said to Windsor, "Windsor, it's actually my fault. If I hadn't brought Thea down, Andrew wouldn't have bothered Thea."

The girl's voice was soft and tearful, and the sight of her tears falling made Windsor's already biased heart lean even further towards Thea.

She comforted her, saying, "Everyone makes mistakes, but admitting and correcting them makes you a good girl. I'm glad you admit your mistake. So, starting tomorrow, you'll copy five articles. Jennifer will supervise you for a week."

"Yay!" The two girls exclaimed happily upon hearing Windsor's words of comfort. They hugged Windsor tightly, and only when Jem reminded them that there were still patients in the medical room did Windsor reluctantly let go of the two girls and walk towards the medical room.

Seeing Windsor walk away, the two girls also walked towards the dormitory in tacit agreement, but they seemed to have created some distance between them, and their intimate attitude just now was completely different.
