Harry Potter: This senior is pretty strong

Chapter 71 Hermione's Wand

Pretty clothes are always something little girls love.

After trying on the wizard's uniform, Hermione looked at herself in the mirror for a long time before finally taking it off reluctantly and letting Madam Malkin put it on—it really wasn't suitable to wear it all the time.

Then, Qin Yu paid, and Hermione left the robe shop carrying the outfit.

Then, the two headed straight for Ollivander's Wand Shop.

Qin Yu was very familiar with this shop, not only because he had bought a wand there once, but also because he had written several letters to Mr. Ollivander to promote the high-quality unicorn hair and phoenix feathers produced by Hogwarts.

Of course, Mr. Ollivander did not buy the latter item, but instead bought a large quantity of unicorn hair.

"...Currently, wands made of phoenix feathers are not selling very well, because there are not many wizards who are suitable to use wands made of this material."

This is Mr. Ollivander's explanation in the letter.

Although Qin Yu was somewhat disappointed, he didn't press the matter too much. After all, trying to steal feathers from Phoenix Fox was no easy task.

Later, he heard that Professor Swinton had used phoenix feathers to forge the sword he was giving him. He was actually very curious about how the other party had obtained them and wanted to learn some experience, but he never had a chance to ask.

"Ding dong!"

The old wooden door was pushed open, ringing the bell on it and disturbing the tranquil atmosphere of the shop.

Two young guests walked in.

The most striking feature of this old shop is the long, narrow wooden boxes stacked almost to the ceiling, which seem to conceal some kind of mysterious aura.

Looking at those mysterious wooden boxes, Hermione felt inexplicably uneasy and subconsciously tightened her grip on Qin Yu's hand. Only when she felt the strength from that large hand did she feel a little relieved.

"Good morning, children!" a gentle voice rang out.

This startled Hermione, who shrank back.

At that moment, an old man with big eyes appeared in front of them. His light-colored eyes seemed to glow in the dimly lit shop.

"Good morning, Mr. Ollivander!" Qin Yu greeted him with a smile.

“Oh, Qin, I remember you… the unicorn fur you had Hagrid send over was quite nice!” Mr. Ollivander said with a smile.

"Yes, I'm glad you're satisfied," Qin Yu nodded and said.

“Alright, miss, if I’m not mistaken, you’re here to buy a wand today, aren’t you?” Mr. Ollivander looked at Hermione.

“Yes, it’s me, Mr. Ollivander,” Hermione said solemnly.

“Well then, let’s take the measurements first…” Mr. Ollivander said, taking out his automatic measuring tape.

"Do we need to take measurements to buy a wand?" Hermione asked Qin Yu in a low voice.

"Well, everyone's physical characteristics and usage habits are different, so the length of the wand will also be different," Qin Yu explained simply.

“That’s right. Whether you use your left or right hand, your height, weight, arm length, and viewing distance will all affect how you use the wand. So, I need to know all of these things in advance so I can choose the right wand for you.” Mr. Ollivander was even more professional than Qin Yu.

Hermione finally understood what was going on and raised her arm in coordination with the automatic test.

So Mr. Ollivander quickly took those measurements.

Then he started rummaging through the boxes.

Not long after, he came down the ladder with one of them, opened it, took out a wand, and handed it to Hermione.

"10 3/4 inches, grapevine wood dragon heartstring (the heart nerve of a fire dragon) staff core. The dragon heartstring can cast powerful and gorgeous magic, and it can also make its master learn magic faster. I think it should be suitable for you."

Hermione, upon hearing this, solemnly accepted the thin, stick-like object.

However, only she knows just how excited she is right now.

Ever since she learned that she was a wizard, Hermione longed to one day have her own wand.

Later, Qin Yu started school a year earlier than her and got his own wand ahead of time, but he refused to let her touch it no matter what—you know, Qin would never be so stingy with anything other than a wand.

However, Hermione could understand. After all, she was still too young, and it was not a wise move for her to come into contact with something as powerful and dangerous as a wand beforehand.

Now that she's reached school age, she can finally have her own magic wand!

Holding the brown wand, Hermione felt as if she could sense some kind of power flowing within it, and she could hear some kind of voice emanating from it.

The moment she grasped that wand, she knew it was her wand! Hermione Jane Granger's wand!

She gently raised her wand, and a burst of intense firelight emanated from its tip.

“Wow, it seems I wasn’t mistaken, this wand is indeed the most suitable for you,” Mr. Ollivander said happily.

“Thank you, Mr. Ollivander!” Hermione grasped the precious wand with both hands and bowed to Mr. Ollivander in gratitude.

She knew that Mr. Ollivander had not only sold a wand, but had also chosen a partner to walk alongside him, the most suitable partner!

Then, Qin Yu simply paid seven Galleons to Mr. Ollivander.

Before leaving, the latter called Qin Yu back and helped him check his wand with the silver willow unicorn hair core, replacing it with a high-quality unicorn hair core free of charge, thus replacing the somewhat droopy core.

“You’re using it too often. Be nicer to it,” Mr. Ollivander advised as a final reminder.

Upon hearing this, Qin Yu awkwardly touched his nose.

Over the past year, he had indeed used the wand extensively, having it knocked down by Professor Snape countless times during battles, and nearly breaking it several times during his trial with the Basilisk before the holidays.

“I will, Mr. Ollivander,” Qin Yu said solemnly.

“However, you should still use it when necessary, after all, a wand is for self-protection,” Mr. Ollivander added.

"..."

"Well, you've said everything, what else can I say?" Qin Yu thought to himself.

……

After buying the robe and wand, the rest was relatively easy. Qin Yu then took Hermione to choose a telescope, brass scales, crystal vials, and of course, the most important textbooks.

They spent a long time browsing Flourish and Blotts, not only buying the magic textbooks for first and second year students respectively, but also some other reference books.

After Qin Yu paid again and the two walked out of the bookstore, Hermione finally couldn't help but ask, "Qin, did you spend a lot of money this time?"

Her trip to Diagon Alley gave her a better understanding of prices in the wizarding world, and she knew that the things she bought would definitely be worth a lot of money.

"Huh?" Qin Yu was taken aback for a moment, then flashed what he thought was a very handsome smile and said to the girl, "Did I tell you that I've made a lot of money in the past year?"

"...It seems not." Hermione shook her head.

"Okay, if you don't have it, you don't have it. Anyway, we're family. The money I earn is your money. You can spend as much as you want!" Qin Yu said generously.

"Mmm!" Hermione nodded with a smile.

She really liked Qin's words, "We are a family."

So the little girl unceremoniously begged Qin Yu to buy her an ice cream, the kind with lots of chopped nuts on it.
