Reborn Fairy Wife Takes Me on a Gaggle-Fire rampage
Chapter 73 Don't Let the Cold Invade Your Body
“That’s easy. If you ask, we’ll have it.” Mu Chen’s words were full of confidence and doting. As soon as he finished speaking, he hurried down the stairs and headed straight for the kitchen. In the kitchen, he skillfully opened the cupboard and found several fresh sweet potatoes. He carefully selected them, making sure each one was plump, smooth, and without any blemishes. After selecting the sweet potatoes, he washed them one by one and then carefully placed them in the microwave.
While waiting for the sweet potatoes to bake, Mu Chen hurried upstairs and returned to Wen Shu's side. Wen Shu was already comfortably lying in bed, intently watching a live stream on Douyin. The stream was about antique appraisal; she was learning and gaining experience by watching how others appraised antiques and treasures. Seeing her so focused, Mu Chen didn't disturb her, but simply stood quietly beside her, admiring her earnest profile.
After a while, Mu Chen turned around, gently closed the door, and returned to the kitchen. He stood in front of the microwave, patiently waiting for the sweet potatoes to bake. A faint aroma of sweet potatoes filled the kitchen, a warm and comforting scent. After about twenty or thirty minutes, the microwave suddenly beeped, announcing that the sweet potatoes were cooked.
Mu Chen opened the microwave, and a burst of steam wafted out, carrying the unique sweet aroma of sweet potatoes. He took out a golden-brown roasted sweet potato, carefully placed it on a plate, and then carried the plate upstairs again to Wen Shu's room. When he opened the door, he saw Wen Shu still immersed in the world of her live stream. He gently placed the sweet potato on the bedside table, then sat on the edge of the bed, quietly waiting for her to finish watching.
Wen Shu finally looked up from the live stream and saw Mu Chen and the sweet potatoes he had prepared. A surprised smile appeared on her face. She knew that these were not just a few sweet potatoes, but also Mu Chen's endless care and love for her. She picked up a steaming hot sweet potato, took a small bite, and the sweet aroma instantly filled the entire room, along with the warm atmosphere between them.
Over the weekend, Mu Chen had already begun preparing for the shop's renovation. He meticulously checked every detail to ensure everything proceeded smoothly according to plan. Meanwhile, his partner was also busy, and the two were thoroughly enjoying themselves with the project.
On Monday, representatives from the museum's livestreaming team visited the museum, and the two sides had in-depth discussions about the upcoming livestream event. The museum made several requests, including coordinating costumes and styling.
Wen Shu had been busy since morning. First, she discussed the style and color of the clothing with the designer. Then, she communicated with the makeup artist to discuss how to create makeup looks for the models that fit the historical context. After ensuring that the issues with clothing and styling were resolved, Wen Shu began to prepare the live broadcast's flow and script.
As her busy day drew to a close, Wen Shu felt utterly exhausted. Despite this, she was filled with a sense of accomplishment. Although the process had been incredibly arduous, the thought of contributing to the dissemination of culture made all the effort worthwhile.
Back home, Mu Chen was already waiting for her in the living room. Seeing Wen Shu's exhausted appearance, Mu Chen felt a pang of heartache. He immediately got up, went to Wen Shu's side, and gently helped her sit on the sofa. Mu Chen's fingers softly pressed on Wen Shu's shoulders, trying to relieve her fatigue from the day. His technique was both professional and loving, making Wen Shu feel incredibly relaxed and comfortable.
Meanwhile, Aunt Hu gradually brought the dishes to the table. Dinner was quite sumptuous, featuring Wen Shu's favorite braised pork, a steamed sea bass specially prepared for her, and several kinds of fresh seasonal vegetables. Mu Chen and Wen Shu ate while chatting about the day's events. Wen Shu shared amusing anecdotes from her work, while Mu Chen recounted recent interesting stories about his friends.
Mu Chen carefully served Wen Shu food, making sure she got the most delicious portions. Their conversation was relaxed and pleasant, filled with mutual care and support. After the meal, Mu Chen even prepared a cup of hot milk for Wen Shu to help her relax and rest. Wen Shu felt surrounded by love, and all the fatigue of the day seemed to vanish in that moment.
Wen Shu enjoyed a sumptuous dinner in her cozy home. Afterward, she decided to take a walk in the yard and breathe in some fresh air. A gentle evening breeze carried a hint of coolness, but the osmanthus tree in the yard exuded a captivating fragrance, which piqued her curiosity.
She remembered Xiao Hei, who seemed to have lingered around the osmanthus tree for quite a while before the meal. Wen Shu's curiosity drove her to find out what Xiao Hei had hidden under the tree.
She walked slowly towards the osmanthus tree. Its shadows swayed gently, and moonlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled patterns on the ground. Wen Shu bent down, carefully observing the ground beneath the tree. Just then, Xiao Hei, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, suddenly darted out from some corner, emitting a series of clear meows, as if declaring its territory.
Wen Shu was startled by the sudden noise, but she quickly smiled because Xiao Hei looked so adorable. Xiao Hei's fur shimmered in the moonlight, and its eyes, like two sparkling gems, stared curiously at Wen Shu. Wen Shu reached out and gently stroked Xiao Hei's head, and Xiao Hei rubbed its soft tail against Wen Shu's arm in a gesture of friendliness.
With Xiao Hei by her side, Wen Shu continued searching for possible clues under the osmanthus tree. She found some small pebbles, clearly brought over by Xiao Hei from the other side of the yard. There were also several withered leaves, cleverly piled into a small nest. Wen Shu guessed that this might be Xiao Hei's resting place. She also found some of Xiao Hei's toys, such as a small ball of yarn, obviously its favorite to play with.
Wen Shu couldn't help but sigh. Although Xiao Hei was just a kitten, its love for the family and its enthusiasm for life were heartwarming. She decided to spend more time with Xiao Hei in the future, letting it feel more joy and security in the home. Wen Shu stood up, gently patting the dust off her clothes. She knew that tonight's walk had not only relaxed her mind and body but also brought her and Xiao Hei closer.
Mu Chen's gaze passed through the window, noticing Wen Shu leisurely strolling in the courtyard. He immediately retrieved a soft cloak from inside the house, tiptoed behind Wen Shu, and gently draped the cloak over her shoulders. Mu Chen's actions were full of care, and he softly reminded her, "The weather is getting colder; you must be careful not to let the chill affect your body."
