Reborn Fairy Wife Takes Me on a Gaggle-Fire rampage
Chapter 71 Prison Disaster
Attorney Xiang rushed to the hospital early in the morning, needing to find Wen Chu as soon as possible to understand the details of the entire incident. The incident stemmed from Wen Chu's prior contact with You Chuan, hoping to discuss an important business collaboration. Wen Chu was already somewhat well-known in social circles, renowned for her social skills and beauty, but deep down she was already weary of this superficially glamorous but ultimately hypocritical life. During her meeting with You Chuan, the situation took a sharp turn for the worse; You Chuan began to grope Wen Chu, attempting to force her to accept his inappropriate demands.
Wen Chu firmly rejected You Chuan's unreasonable actions, but You Chuan did not back down. He was physically strong and far more powerful than Wen Chu, who was no match for him. After a struggle, Wen Chu was knocked to the ground by You Chuan, but he still showed no sign of stopping and continued to assault her. Fortunately, Wen Shu discovered this scene in time. Seeing Wen Chu being bullied, she was filled with anger and worry. Wen Shu rushed forward to try to stop You Chuan, but he did not relent.
In the chaos, Wen Shu was forced to take drastic action, ultimately resulting in You Chuan's injury. Although the entire incident was recounted simply, the only evidence proving what happened was the parking lot's surveillance video. After understanding the whole situation, Attorney Xiang had a clear strategy in mind. He assured Wen Chu that as long as she didn't withdraw the lawsuit, he was confident he could help her achieve the outcome she desired.
It must be said that Attorney Xiang's reaction speed was truly astonishing. That very afternoon, he had swiftly prepared a large amount of evidence and written litigation materials, and promptly submitted these documents to the court. His efficiency was truly admirable. Not long after, You Chuan received a summons from the court, informing him that he would soon face a legal battle.
The You family, as an influential clan in the area, naturally wouldn't sit idly by. They quickly found a highly respected lawyer to defend You Chuan. However, they soon realized that the lawyer was no ordinary person. He not only demanded financial compensation but also sought to pursue You Chuan's criminal charges, putting him facing imprisonment.
Because the evidence prepared by the lawyer was extremely substantial, and the submitted video materials were so clear and irrefutable, the You family's legal team felt immense pressure. They began making inquiries, trying to understand the lawyer's background. Ultimately, they learned a disturbing fact: the lawyer was the Mu family's exclusive legal counsel. This news shocked the You family, as they realized they might have inadvertently offended the Mu family, a family with equally powerful influence in the area.
The You family began to consider whether they should demand compensation in an attempt to reach a settlement and prevent the situation from escalating further. However, the lawyer's request for imprisonment was undoubtedly a huge blow to the You family, affecting not only the family's reputation but also You Chuan's personal future. This put the You family members in a very difficult position; they had to make a tough decision in a short period of time: whether to choose reconciliation or continue the confrontation.
Wen Chu's phone suddenly rang, displaying You Chuan's number. She hesitated for a moment, then finally answered. You Chuan's voice came through the phone, his tone tinged with barely perceptible tension. You Chuan cut to the chase, stating his conditions: he was willing to take responsibility for everything that had happened and offer Wen Chu's family substantial financial compensation. He hoped to gain Wen Chu's forgiveness and have her drop the lawsuit against him.
However, Wen Chu's answer surprised him. She firmly rejected You Chuan's offer, her voice revealing an undeniable resolve. Wen Chu's heart was already riddled with wounds from this experience; she didn't crave monetary compensation, but rather spiritual liberation. She planned to leave this city filled with painful memories after receiving the appropriate compensation, and start a new life in a faraway place. She didn't even want to see her family again, because she found them disgusting and hypocritical; every meeting would only remind her of the past she didn't want to recall.
Wen Chu lay on the hospital bed, her body exceptionally weak from the prolonged torment of illness. The nurse gently removed the IV from her arm; she frowned slightly, but quickly drifted off to sleep again. In her dream, she seemed to see a boundless ocean, a place without worries or pain, where only she remained, floating freely on the azure surface. She knew it was a brand new beginning, a future she had longed for.
As night fell, Wen Shu sat alone in her bedroom, gently combing her long, flowing hair under the soft lamplight. Her movements were slow and rhythmic, as if her thoughts were drifting away with her. She thought of Wen Chu, who had told her that since she left, their father had become addicted to gambling and had lost all concern and enthusiasm for the Wen family. A faint sadness welled up in Wen Shu's heart; she knew the allure of gambling was enough to destroy a family's harmony and happiness.
Wen Shu gently put down the comb in her hand, stood up, and slowly walked to the window. Her gaze pierced through the clear glass, fixed on the deep night sky. The night was like a vast velvet cloth, adorned with countless twinkling stars, as if they were mysterious signals from the distant universe. A mix of doubt and hope surged within her, like those scattered lights, flickering in the distance, both far away and seemingly within reach. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, deciding to let things take their natural course, developing according to Wen Chu's wishes. She didn't want to interfere in the Wen family's complicated affairs any longer.
Just then, she noticed Xiao Hei outside the window, the familiar black cat, tirelessly digging for something under the osmanthus tree. Its movements were agile and focused, as if searching for some treasure. Wen Shu took it all in, a warm smile rising in her heart. She yawned deeply, feeling a little tired. Mu Chen had gone to an important business dinner that evening and hadn't returned yet. She decided not to wait for him any longer and to go rest first.
Wen Shu turned and walked to the bedside, gently lifting the soft blankets and lying down in the warm embrace. As Wen Shu drifted off to sleep, she heard footsteps; she knew it was Mu Chen returning. Then she heard the sound of a shower, and soon after, he lay down beside her. Wen Shu smelled the familiar scent, snuggled closer to Mu Chen, and quietly fell asleep.
