Reborn Fairy Wife Takes Me on a Gaggle-Fire rampage
Chapter 69 I hope Madam likes it.
Wen Shu strode into the bedroom, lightly changing into a soft loungewear set, her steps seemingly becoming lighter and more cheerful. Through the window, she watched the housekeeper and servants busily setting up tents, tables, chairs, and grills—everyone preparing for the upcoming barbecue party. Their faces beamed with smiles, as if this wasn't just a job, but a long-awaited gathering. Watching all this, a warm feeling welled up inside Wen Shu.
She walked towards the kitchen and saw Aunt Hu busily washing vegetables at the sink. Wen Shu stepped forward and asked softly, "Aunt Hu, is there anything I can help you with?" Aunt Hu turned around, a kind smile on her face, "Please wait a moment, Madam. Once I've finished washing these vegetables, we can take the ingredients outside to prepare." Wen Shu nodded, deciding not to disturb Aunt Hu's work for the time being.
Just then, Mu Chen walked in from outside, his steps steady and confident. Seeing Wen Shu, he smiled and said, "Shu Shu, let's go to the basement and pick out a bottle of red wine together." Wen Shu readily agreed. She walked to Mu Chen's side, and he gently took her hand. The two of them walked towards the wine cellar together.
"Do you have a particular favorite flavor?" Mu Chen asked, his voice tinged with concern. Wen Shu smiled and replied, "No, just take whatever you like. I don't drink much." Mu Chen nodded, opened the wine cellar door, and rows of wine racks came into view. Wen Shu was somewhat surprised; she hadn't realized Mu Chen had such a passion for red wine before.
Mu Chen carefully selected a bottle of sweet red wine and led Wen Shu outside. In the courtyard, the shed was already set up, and Aunt Hu had pushed the washed vegetables and meat outside. Everyone was chatting and skewering various ingredients. Wen Shu watched all this, her heart filled with anticipation.
"Come on, let's light the charcoal fire and grill the meat later." Mu Chen handed Wen Shu a chair and asked her to sit down. Wen Shu sat beside him, watching Mu Chen skillfully light the charcoal. Soon, smoke began to rise, and Wen Shu gently moved her chair to the side to avoid being bothered by the smoke. The charcoal began to burn, and the smoke gradually dissipated. Wen Shu picked up a few skewers of lamb that had already been skewered, and Mu Chen began to grill them.
Wen Shu watched Mu Chen skillfully flipping the skewers, her eyes sparkling. "You're amazing! I didn't know you could grill skewers!" Mu Chen nodded, recalling the grilling techniques he'd learned from eating out with friends in middle school. He turned to Wen Shu and asked, "Do you eat spicy food?" Wen Shu smiled and replied, "I can try it occasionally." Mu Chen then picked up cumin and chili powder and began seasoning Wen Shu's skewers. The entire courtyard was filled with the aroma of charcoal and grilled meat, and the laughter and conversation of everyone mingled together, creating a warm and harmonious scene.
On this tranquil night, a fine drizzle fell from the sky, as if nature were preparing for a romantic moment to unfold. Mu Chen, a thoughtful and considerate man, carefully took an exquisite box from his coat pocket. He handed it to Wen Shu, who stood beside him, his eyes filled with anticipation and tenderness.
"Open it and see if you like it?" Mu Chen's voice was deep and magnetic, with a hint of barely perceptible nervousness.
Wen Shu took the box, her heart pounding slightly. She knew this was more than just a box; it carried a heavy sentiment. She whispered "thank you" as she slowly opened the lid.
As the box was opened, a soft light emanated from within, illuminating Wen Shu's surprised face. It was a pink diamond hairpin, exquisitely designed, each diamond sparkling brilliantly. Most captivating were the delicate butterfly tassels, which seemed to sway gently in a breeze, lifelike and exquisite.
"So beautiful!" Wen Shu couldn't help but exclaim, her eyes sparkling like diamonds. She turned her head, looked at Mu Chen affectionately, and then gently kissed him on the cheek, expressing her joy and gratitude.
Mu Chen's face was filled with a happy smile. He looked at Wen Shu with eyes full of love: "I hope you like it, Madam."
"I love it, I love it." Wen Shu's voice was full of joy. She carefully picked up the hairpin and began to examine it carefully. She noticed every detail of the hairpin, from the delicate butterfly shape to the cutting craftsmanship of each diamond, all of which reflected the craftsman's care and ingenuity.
Wen Shu gently tucked the hairpin into her hair. She turned on her phone's front-facing camera and looked at herself, even more radiant with the hairpin's effect. She knew it was because Mu Chen was thoughtful; she had lost a silver hairpin, but he had given her a diamond one.
After the dinner party, the servants busied themselves, meticulously cleaning every corner to ensure everything was back to normal. Wen Shu sat on the sofa, her cheeks flushed from a little red wine, her eyes slightly hazy with intoxication. Noticing her fatigue, Mu Chen gently suggested taking her upstairs to rest. Wen Shu nodded, and as she slowly walked up the stairs with Mu Chen, she felt a sense of warmth and reassurance.
In the cozy bedroom, Mu Chen carefully tucked Wen Shu in, then sat on the edge of the bed and gently asked if she had any free time lately. He suggested taking her to a resort away from the hustle and bustle of the city to enjoy some peaceful time. Wen Shu felt a warm current well up in her heart upon hearing Mu Chen's suggestion, but she still hesitated and replied that she had an appraisal show to participate in recently and needed to do a lot of preparation.
Upon hearing this, Mu Chen considerately expressed his understanding and suggested, "Then let's go to the resort after you finish the show. There's no rush." Wen Shu nodded gratefully and replied softly, "Okay." She knew that Mu Chen was always like this, always respecting her choices and giving her enough space and support.
Wen Shu closed her eyes and began to imagine the tranquil beauty of the resort, imagining herself walking with Mu Chen by the lake, enjoying the fresh air and warm sunshine. She knew that no matter how busy she was with work, having Mu Chen by her side always brought her immense happiness and peace. She decided that once the program ended, she would make good arrangements to enjoy that long-awaited vacation with Mu Chen.
Wen Shu lay on the soft bed and fell into a deep sleep. In her dream, she found herself in a strange world. A faint fragrance filled the air, and following the scent, she was astonished to discover a gigantic jasmine plant. The jasmine blossoms were enormous, with petals layered upon each other like white clouds, exuding a refreshing and intoxicating fragrance.
