In the hospital corridor, Attorney Xiang followed the signs to Wen Chu's ward. Pushing open the door, she saw Wen Chu lying alone in bed, with no family members around and no caregiver. One side of Wen Chu's face had a noticeable bruise; her features clearly showed that she should have been a strikingly beautiful girl. The doctor had previously told Attorney Xiang that Wen Chu's injuries were quite serious, especially her uterus, which had suffered severe trauma and could make it extremely difficult for her to conceive in the future.

Attorney Xiang stood at the ward door, observing Wen Chu for a while, but she didn't wake her from her deep sleep. As a powerful and successful businesswoman, Attorney Xiang couldn't help but feel a pang of pity for Wen Chu seeing her condition. About thirty minutes later, a nurse came in to change the IV drip, and then gently woke Wen Chu. The nurse told Wen Chu that a woman was sitting in the ward and asked if she knew her. Wen Chu slowly opened her eyes, looking somewhat confused.

Seeing this, Attorney Xiang stepped forward, her voice clear and firm: "Ms. Wen, I am Wen Shu's lawyer. I'm here to understand some things." Wen Chu's eyes were red and swollen, clearly from crying. She managed to utter a single word: "Okay." Although her voice was weak, Attorney Xiang could sense Wen Chu's strength and determination. She sat down beside Wen Chu's bed and began to question her in detail about how she was injured and her relationship with Wen Shu. Attorney Xiang knew that this information was crucial to her work.

When asked by his lawyer whether Wen Chu had considered filing a lawsuit to request police intervention, or whether he intended to settle the matter privately, the lawyer inquired.

Wen Chu's eyes instantly welled up with tears, which streamed down her face like pearls from a broken string. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but her voice was still choked with emotion. She said, "How could I possibly make these decisions? You've probably already found out. That man is incredibly wealthy and powerful, someone my father desperately tries to curry favor with. It's the You family, a family with enormous influence in both the business and political worlds. If it weren't for my father's ambition and thirst for power, how could I have ended up in such a miserable state?"

Wen Chu recalled the past with bitterness and helplessness in her heart. She continued, "Looking back now, it's truly a case of reaping what you sow."

Her tears flowed again as she recalled what she had done to Wen Shu, filled with deep regret. Wen Chu's face showed profound self-reproach and remorse. She knew she could not go back to the past, nor could she change what had already happened. She could only search for a glimmer of hope in this cruel reality, striving to adapt and survive. However, whenever the night was still and quiet, her heart was always filled with endless pain and struggle.

Attorney Xiang sat opposite her, his gaze gentle yet firm, listening intently to Wen Chu's heartfelt story. After listening to Wen Chu's narration, he spoke slowly, his voice carrying a hint of encouragement and strength: "If you are truly willing, this time you will have the opportunity to take the initiative and will not be as passive as before. I am willing to help you, to help you get out of this predicament, as long as you are willing to accept it." Attorney Xiang's words revealed a firm belief, as if he had already planned out the path forward for Wen Chu in his mind.

He continued, “This will be a fresh start, an opportunity for you to take control of your own destiny. You no longer have to be bound by the shadows of the past, no longer have to let those problems that trouble you control your future. I’m here to help you break free from all of that.” The lawyer’s words were full of sympathy and understanding for Wen Chu; he knew all too well the pain and struggle Wen Chu had gone through.

The lawyer paused, giving Wen Chu time to process what he had to say. Then, he added softly, "But it all depends on you, on whether you're willing to take this step. If you decide to accept my help, then please think carefully about what you truly want and how much effort you're willing to put in." His words conveyed respect—respect for Wen Chu's choice and decision.

After saying this, the lawyer stood up, preparing to leave. He nodded to Wen Chu, indicating his goodbye: "I'm leaving now. I'll give you some time to think. When you're ready, or if you need any help, feel free to contact me." His figure gradually disappeared into the distance, leaving Wen Chu sitting there alone, her heart filled with contemplation and hope for the future.

Shortly after the lawyer left the hospital, Wen's parents finally appeared at the hospital ward door. Wen's father's face was etched with exhaustion and anxiety, while Wen's mother looked somewhat haggard; both their expressions revealed deep worry. Since the Wen family's company began its decline, Wen's father's gambling addiction had worsened, his reason gradually being consumed by greed and despair, pushing Wen Chu step by step into the abyss.

When Wen's father approached Wen Chu's bedside, his eyes held no trace of the concern and love a father should have; instead, they were filled with blame and dissatisfaction. His words were full of accusations against Wen Chu, blaming her for failing to handle company affairs properly and for not maintaining a good relationship with the You family, as if Wen Chu's failure was a disaster for the entire family.

Wen's mother stood to the side, her eyes revealing helplessness and despair. The family's misfortune had robbed her of her former strength; she seemed to have lost her backbone, appearing cold and distant in the face of Wen Chu's misfortune. Wen Chu, watching her parents' reactions, felt a surge of bitterness and disappointment. She knew she had sacrificed so much for this family, even trading her body for a small share of their wealth, but now it all seemed meaningless.

Tears silently streamed down Wen Chu's face, her heart filled with resentment and anger. She began to realize that this home was no longer the warm haven it once was, but a place filled with calculation and indifference. Her parents' coldness and her brother's hypocrisy made her feel that she had no place in this family. A strong hatred gradually grew in her heart, spreading like wildfire, slowly eroding her attachment and dependence on this home.

Wen Chu made up her mind. She wanted to break free from this calculating and indifferent family. She wanted to live for herself and no longer be a victim of this family. She knew it would be a difficult road, but she was ready to face the new challenges and find her own happiness and freedom.
