Reborn Fairy Wife Takes Me on a Gaggle-Fire rampage
Chapter 144 5
Before long, Wen Shu finished restoring one of the pages. She looked up at the man and asked softly, "Do you think the restoration is satisfactory?"
The man stepped forward, carefully examining the restored pages, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. He nodded slightly, a gentle, jade-like smile on his face, and said, "You truly possess extraordinary skills. Not only can you understand this book, but you've also restored it so perfectly. In that case, I'm willing to sell this book to you for five million. I wonder if this price is acceptable to you?"
Upon hearing the price the man quoted, Wen Shu was taken aback. Based on her years of experience, she knew the book's actual value far exceeded five million; it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it was worth tens of millions. At that moment, she felt as if she had struck gold, secretly delighted. However, her intense curiosity compelled her to ask the man, "Sir, you must be well aware of the immense value this book holds, so why did you choose to sell it at such a low price?"
"To be honest, my master has long since retired to the mountains and forests, no longer concerning himself with worldly affairs. This item today was entrusted to me by him for restoration. Before I left, my master specifically instructed that if I am fortunate enough to find a suitable person, I should sell it for five million." The man said with a smile, his tone gentle and refined.
Upon hearing this, Wen Shu pondered for a moment before readily replying, "In that case, let's quickly draft a contract! Once we both sign it, the deal will be done." With that, she slightly raised her chin, looking at the man before her with a determined gaze.
The man nodded slightly and said slowly, "No need to trouble you, Miss Wen. My master had the foresight to specifically instruct me to bring the contract along. Please take a look." As he spoke, he took out a contract from his briefcase and carefully handed it to Wen Shu.
Wen Shu took the contract and read it carefully, word by word. She would sometimes frown in thought, sometimes lightly tap the clauses on the paper with her finger, her expression focused and serious. After about ten minutes, Wen Shu finally put down the contract, nodded in satisfaction, indicating that there was nothing unusual about it.
Without hesitation, she picked up a pen, signed her name at the end of the contract in a flourish, and paid the agreed-upon five million. After completing these actions, she looked up at the man, smiled, and said, "Pleasure doing business with you."
The man returned a polite smile, bowed slightly to Wen Shu, and then turned and left. As his figure disappeared from sight, this seemingly simple yet dramatic transaction came to a perfect end.
Now, with the addition of this last precious ancient book, Wen Shu's joy was indescribable. She had finally completed her long-cherished collection! Thinking of this, Wen Shu couldn't help but smile brightly, a smile as radiant and beautiful as a spring flower in full bloom. As for restoring these slightly damaged ancient books, with Wen Shu's superb skills, it was a piece of cake. She couldn't wait to begin this task.
After getting off work, Wen Shu happily pushed open the door to her home, only to see Mu Chen sitting leisurely on the spacious and bright living room sofa, engrossed in scrolling through his phone. Seeing this, Wen Shu's face instantly lit up with a warm and bright smile, her joy overflowing: "Oh, darling, why are you home so early today? That really surprises me!"
Hearing Wen Shu's clear, melodious, and joyful voice, Mu Chen slowly raised his head, the corners of his mouth slightly upturned, and a gentle smile appeared in his eyes. He responded softly, "Yes, the work this afternoon went quite smoothly, so I went home early after finishing." After saying that, he gently put down his phone, extended his broad and strong hand to Wen Shu, and smiled, gesturing for her to come and sit down next to him.
"Guess what I found! I had a great haul today!" Wen Shu winked at Mu Chen with a smile and teased him playfully.
Seeing Wen Shu's excited expression, Mu Chen couldn't help but become curious: "What rare treasure could make you so happy? Stop keeping me in suspense!" As he spoke, he also showed an expectant smile.
Wen Shu mysteriously pulled a box from behind her back, then carefully opened it. With a crisp sound, she said triumphantly, "Ta-da! This is it!"
Mu Chen stared intently, his eyes widening in surprise. "It's actually the middle volume of this ancient book? This is truly unexpected!" It's incredibly rare that Wen Shu was able to find the missing volume.
"That's right! That's it!" Wen Shu nodded in response, unable to hide her joy.
"Oh my! How did you get it? What a coincidence!" Mu Chen asked impatiently, his face full of disbelief.
Wen Shu explained with a smile, "It was really lucky. Someone brought this book to us today for restoration. I recognized it at a glance, so I quickly went up to ask if he was interested in selling it. And guess what? He only asked for five million! The price wasn't high, but when I thought about being able to collect this set of ancient books, I bought it without hesitation. Now, my wish has finally come true!"
Upon hearing this, Mu Chen couldn't help but exclaim, "What a coincidence! Now you've finally collected them all. Be sure to take good care of them and don't lose or damage them." After saying this, he gently patted Wen Shu's shoulder to show his encouragement and concern.
An enticing aroma filled the kitchen—the scent of Aunt Hu's carefully prepared wontons. Soon, a steaming bowl of fragrant wontons was placed on the table. Wen Shu eagerly began to eat, each bite bursting with delicious flavor and a warm sense of satisfaction.
After finishing her meal, with time to spare, Wen Shu changed into some comfortable clothes and strolled into the garden. The garden was a riot of color with blooming flowers and lush green grass; a gentle breeze ruffled her hair, bringing a refreshing and pleasant atmosphere.
Wen Shu walked to a swing, gently sat down, and began to sway slowly. As the swing swayed, her mood gradually relaxed. Just then, she looked up, her gaze inadvertently sweeping across the roof, and discovered an adorable kitten leisurely strolling on it. The kitten's fur was jet black and glossy, like a bright pearl in the night.
Xiao Hei seemed to sense Wen Shu's gaze. It stopped and turned to meet Wen Shu's eyes. A moment later, it leaped lightly from the rooftop, landing steadily on the ground, and walked gracefully towards Wen Shu.
