Reborn Fairy Wife Takes Me on a Gaggle-Fire rampage
Chapter 1 Miss Wen has been found
The sky over City C seemed to be suffocating under the weight of thick clouds, with a continuous drizzle that hadn't stopped since dawn, shrouding the entire city in a gray, misty rain curtain. Pedestrians hurried along the streets, their brightly colored umbrellas like splashes of color on a canvas washed clean by the rain. Raindrops pattered against the windows, making soft, discordant sounds, like nature whispering secrets.
As night fell, the rain seemed to intensify, making the streetlights appear exceptionally dim and yellowish, as if they might be extinguished at any moment. The air was thick with the damp scent of earth, mingled with the flickering neon lights in the distance, creating an atmosphere of unease and mystery. People hurried home, and the streets gradually grew quiet, broken only by the occasional passing vehicle.
On this night, the top floor of the H Group building seemed exceptionally desolate. Mu Chen sat there alone, his gaze fixed on the rain outside through the floor-to-ceiling windows. His phoenix eyes were half-closed, as if he were pondering some profound question, or perhaps enjoying the tranquility of solitude. He held an arrow in his hand, the arrowhead gleaming coldly under the lamplight, a striking contrast to his aloof expression.
Mu Chen stood up, walked to the target not far away, took a deep breath, adjusted his posture, then drew his bow, aimed, and fired—the whole action was completed in one smooth motion. The arrow, like a bolt from a bow, struck the bullseye accurately, making a dull thud. A satisfied smile appeared on Mu Chen's face, as if he had found a trace of comfort in the rainy night.
He turned back to the window, continuing to gaze at the rain outside. The sounds of rain, wind, and the distant city's clamor blended together, creating a complex symphony. Then his phone rang on his desk. He gently put down his bow and arrow, reached for the phone, and saw an urgent message from his personal assistant. Mu Chen's brow furrowed slightly. He quickly scanned the message: "Miss Wen, found." A barely perceptible smile appeared on Mu Chen's lips. He quickly replied, then stood up and walked to the French windows, gazing at the rain outside. Raindrops pattered against the glass, making a soft, fragmented sound, as if telling a story. Five years had passed; he had never given up searching for Wen Shu. Now, finally, there was news of her, and his emotions were complex and indescribable.
He turned back to his desk, turned on his computer, and began to review the information his assistant had sent. The information included Wen Shu's latest photo and her current address. Mu Chen's gaze lingered on the photo for a moment; those eyes that had once captivated him now seemed to hold a newfound calm and determination. He took a deep breath and decided to go see her in person.
Night deepened, but the rain showed no sign of letting up. Mu Chen put on his coat, grabbed his umbrella, and walked out of the office. He told himself that no matter the outcome, he at least had to give an explanation for this long wait. As the elevator slowly descended, Mu Chen's heart pounded faster. He didn't know if Wen Shu still remembered him, or if she was willing to re-enter his life. But in any case, he was prepared to face everything.
As he slowly walked out of the towering building, large raindrops began to fall, densely striking the open umbrella in his hand, making a crisp and loud sound, like a unique symphony played by nature.
Mu Chen tilted his head back slightly, took a deep breath of the cool, fresh air, and let the coolness flow from his nose to his heart. Then, without hesitation, he took a step with his long, strong legs, each step so steady and firm, like a warrior charging forward.
At this moment, his figure appeared particularly lonely and desolate in the rain.
On the outskirts of T City lies a tranquil and mysterious mountain forest, where a secluded courtyard called Fuyao Residence is hidden. Surrounded by dense trees, the courtyard seems isolated from the world, broken only by the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves. Su Yun, an elegant woman, dressed in a light green dress, is like a forest sprite. She lowers her eyes gently, as if listening to the sounds of nature. Her long, wavy hair sways gently in the rocking chair, blending seamlessly with the surrounding scenery. Sunlight filters through the leaves, casting a soft glow upon her. In this tranquil mountain forest...
Half-asleep, she seemed to hear a car stop in front of her house. The sound was particularly jarring in the quiet night, like an uninvited guest in a dream. Exhausted, she didn't pay much attention, letting herself drift into that hazy state between dream and reality. However, her fluffy West Highland White Terrier kept barking at the door, finally breaking her daze and drawing her attention. Her head was spinning, her thoughts swirling, wondering who it could be. Could it be Zao'er, who had ended her business trip in Japan early and suddenly returned? Zao'er was currently on a business trip in Japan for the family business, expected to stay for a full six months. Just this afternoon, they had spoken on the phone, and Zao'er mentioned that her trip might be extended further. The area where this house was located mostly consisted of guesthouses, with relatively low foot traffic. She had chosen to buy this house mainly because of its quiet environment, beautiful scenery, and, more importantly, its relatively secluded and hidden location, making it difficult for others to find. She enjoyed this feeling of seclusion, as if she could temporarily escape the chaotic reality and enjoy a peaceful time of her own. However, the barking at the door shattered this tranquility, forcing her to wake from her dream and face the various possibilities of reality.
Outside the door, the man in the car stared intently, unsure if she would come back with him, and worried that it might not be her opening the door. His heart was filled with trepidation and unease; every subtle sound made his heart race. He kept glancing at his watch; time seemed to slow, each passing second agonizing. He imagined her possible reactions, the air in the car growing heavy. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, but the anxiety surged like a tide, impossible to suppress. The scenery outside blurred in the night, but his thoughts grew clearer. He imagined her light steps, her familiar figure, even her warm smile. He longed to hear her voice, even a simple greeting would bring him some comfort. Yet, he also feared it was all just his imagination, feared reality would deliver a devastating blow.
