President, please comfort me.

Chapter 12 Misunderstanding

When Wen Qi woke up again, she was in a hospital bed. The first thing she wanted to do was pick up her phone to check the time, but she couldn't find her phone anywhere. There was no one in the ward. Fortunately, apart from some pain in her shoulder, she felt fine elsewhere. She hurriedly threw off the covers and got out of bed.

Wen Qi was startled when she asked around in the corridor and learned that it was almost six o'clock. She rushed towards the hospital entrance without thinking, afraid that she would miss her chance to return to the Governor's Mansion.

-

On the other side, Xiao He was busy with work and made a point of returning to Chunfengli early, but Wen Qi still hadn't come downstairs by five o'clock.

Without her contact information, and not wanting to ask Ah Chen to call, nor able to go directly to her room like he had a few days ago, he was truly suffering while sitting on the living room sofa, since waiting was the last thing he liked.

I called Tang Hui early this morning to tell her to cook less seafood because Wen Qi doesn't like it, but she still hadn't shown up by five o'clock, so I couldn't help but get angry.

Xiao looked up at his watch; it was already six o'clock. Having no other choice, he went upstairs to look for the person. But when he opened the door, there was no one there. Now, even if he didn't want to, he had to ask A-Chen to call and find them.

Back in the living room on the first floor, Xiao He took out his phone and called Achen with a grim expression: "Call Wen Qi and ask where she is."

Ah Chen was startled. What was going on? He replied, "Okay, Brother Xiao."

Ah Chen tried calling twice but the call was temporarily unavailable. He quickly reported this to Xiao He, who was both angry and worried: "Check the surveillance footage and tell me as soon as you find the person."

"It's already under investigation."

Before Achen could call, the door opened. Wen Qi rushed out of the hospital, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for Chunfengli. She was in a hurry to go upstairs to get money to pay the driver who was waiting at the door.

Xiao He looked up at her, looking a bit disheveled, but couldn't quite put his finger on what was wrong. Without thinking much of it, he asked with displeasure and a hint of accusation, "Didn't I say we were going to the Governor's Office? Look at the time!"

Wen Qi felt a little wronged. Her phone and car were gone, and she was injured, but she had indeed been delayed. She could only say in a gentle tone, "I'm sorry, something happened on the way. I'll go downstairs first and we'll talk later." Without waiting for Xiao He's response, she went straight upstairs.

Xiao He was even more furious when he saw her like that. Two minutes later, he saw her jog down and go straight out the door.

After paying, Wen Qi jogged back to the living room, slightly out of breath, and looked at Xiao He: "I'm sorry, I didn't know it was already past six. Are we still going?"

"I'm not going." After saying that, Xiao He didn't even look at her, went out the door, started the car, and drove away.

When Wen Qi heard the car drive out of the yard, she pursed her lips. Perhaps her wound was a little painful, because her eyes suddenly welled up with tears. She stared at the door for two seconds, then turned around and went upstairs.

Wenqi was stabbed in the shoulder by a piece of metal. The hospital bandaged her up, but her clothes were dirty and torn. She thought she needed to change her clothes before going out to eat, buy medicine, and buy a cell phone.

Xiao He drove aimlessly around the road, thinking to himself, "What do you mean by 'are you still going'? It turns out I've been waiting for nothing. You know the answer already. If you don't want to go, just say so!"

Despite thinking this to myself, I still honestly called Tang Hui and said that I had an unexpected social engagement and couldn't get out of it, and that I would go back in a few days.

Just as he was feeling sullen, Ah Chen called him: "Brother Xiao, I found out. Wen Qi was hit by a car and knocked unconscious. She was taken to the hospital, but she was discharged around 5 p.m. and should be back in Chunfeng Lane by now."

Xiao felt a lump in his throat for a moment, realizing he had misunderstood her. He was speechless for a few seconds: "I understand."

She got hit by a car? She was perfectly fine just now, damn it!

Xiao He quickly turned the car around and sped off towards Chunfengli.

Just a minute before the car stopped in the spring breeze, Wen Qi got into the taxi: "Driver, to Mingzhu Square."

"okay."

Wen Qi bought a cell phone at Mingzhu Plaza and immediately called Tang Hui. She wanted to tell her that she had something to do that night and couldn't come over, but when the call connected, Tang Hui spoke first: "Xiao Qi, Ahe has already told me that he has a social engagement today, so remember to come back for dinner another day."

Tang Hui was very happy. She thought that her cold son had told Wen Qi early in the morning that he didn't like seafood, and now Wen Qi was calling again. This could only mean that the two of them were getting better and better.

Once Wen Qi heard that Xiao He had already explained, she didn't bother to explain further: "Okay, Mom, I'll go back next week if I have time."

"Yes, come back with Ahe more often when you have time. Mom will prepare some delicious food to nourish you."

Wen Qi was easily moved, and she sniffed softly, "Thank you, Mom."

After buying the phone, Wenqi had a quick meal and then went to the pharmacy to buy medicine for her abrasions. Not wanting to go back so early, she wandered aimlessly on the street for a while before returning to Chunfengli around 8 p.m.

Xiao He couldn't find anyone in the upstairs room, so he went back to the living room and waited for two more hours before Wen Qi finally returned.

Xiao He had worn down her temper to the point of losing patience with the matter of waiting for others.

Seeing the medicine in her hand, his expression was a mix of embarrassment and worry. He didn't say anything because he felt awkward.

He thought he would take the opportunity to show concern when Wen Qi spoke to him.

Unexpectedly, Wen Qi ignored him and went upstairs again. Helpless, his stubborn temper flared up again, and Xiao He sighed helplessly, deciding to follow her upstairs to check on her.

Xiao He entered Wen Qi's room with ease, while he couldn't help but look towards the bedroom from the small living room.

The door was half-open, allowing a glimpse, and in that glimpse, one could see the wound on her left shoulder, wrapped in gauze, about the size of a coin.

Perhaps out of impatience, or perhaps out of habit, Xiao He forgot to knock and went straight into Wen Qi's bedroom.

Wen Qi was about to change into her pajamas. She had just taken off her clothes when she heard the sound and turned around, only to be startled by him. She could only hurriedly drape the clothes over her chest.

Just as Xiao was about to speak, he saw her frowning nervously and asking him abruptly, "What are you doing in my room? Can't you show some respect for others?"

Xiao He had never been questioned in such a tone before. He held back, pretending to be calm, and walked over: "What happened to your shoulder?"

Wen Qi looked annoyed and said in a somewhat sharp tone, "Nothing, just get out."

"Let me see," Xiao He said, reaching out to pull at Wen Qi's clothes.

Wen Qi was both scared and repulsed by the fact that he was barely clothed. She felt that she couldn't see through him at all. She thought that he was alright after spending a few days with her and that he wasn't as scary as people said. But it turned out that it was all an illusion. He could turn on her immediately if she did something slightly wrong or didn't do what he wanted.

Taking advantage of his inattention, she quickly moved to the side and spoke again, "No, could you please leave first? I need to rest."

Xiao He was also annoyed by her disgusted and wary expression. What did she take him for? He just wanted to see the wound.

Seeing how cleverly she dodged, he figured she was probably alright. He turned away unhappily, not wanting to be snubbed.

After Xiao He left, Wen Qi re-treated her wound and lay in bed thinking that she must have eaten too little that morning and had low blood sugar, otherwise she wouldn't have been knocked unconscious so easily. She would have to go look for the electric scooter tomorrow. Sigh, as for Xiao He, she should keep her distance.
