Crossing Over to Yamada Love

Mo Lan carried the basket into the house. She looked around and saw that no one was in the yard. She went straight to the kitchen door, put down the basket, wiped the sweat from her forehead and nose with her sleeve, patted the dirt off her body, and then went into the kitchen.

As expected, Liu and Qiu were busy preparing lunch, while Mo Mei was watching the fire.

"Lanlan, what have you been doing? You're all sweaty and covered in dirt." Seeing her daughter's condition, Qiu put down the kitchen knife and came over to check on her. She then gently brushed the dirt off her daughter.

"I dug up some dandelions, Mother. Make a bowl of the soybean paste that your mother made at noon, and we can dip them in it," Mo Lan said with a smile to Qiu Shi.

Qiu touched the red mark on Mo Lan's hand, pulled her to the basin of water, and washed it clean for her.

"Lanlan, take a break. I'll wash them." Mo Mei added more firewood, smiled at her mother and sister, and took the basin out to wash the vegetables.

"Sister, let me help you." Mo Lan told Qiu Shi to continue cooking, and then ran to help Mo Mei.

"That girl, really." Qiu's complaint came from behind her.

Mo Lan looked at her older sister; she was pretty, had a good temper, and was quiet and hardworking. She was a good girl, unlike herself, who was a troublemaker.

They carefully washed the dandelions because they couldn't waste water; their father was the only one in the family carrying water, which was very hard work. So they tried their best to conserve water.

"Lanlan, is this really good for your uncle's health?" Liu asked Molan as she came out of the kitchen. Her hands were still covered in vegetable leaves, indicating that she had overheard the two sisters' conversation and rushed out without even wiping her hands clean.

Mo Mei went to the vegetable garden to pour out the dirty water. Mo Lan looked at Liu Shi, whose face was full of concern, and smiled gently, saying, "Yes, Auntie, not only should the roots be cut off and used to make tea, but we should also eat the dandelion raw. It would be even better if we had some goose eggs."

"What do you need goose eggs for?" Liu asked, puzzled. "Didn't you say we shouldn't eat chicken eggs?"

"The doctor mentioned a folk remedy: boil goose eggs with dandelion, eat one every morning, and drink the water. Over time, it should cure Uncle's illness," Mo Lan said, revealing the remedy she knew.

"Really?" Liu asked, her lips trembling slightly. Her eyes, however, shone with eager light as she stared intently at Mo Lan.

Mo Lan's nod brought tears to Liu's eyes. The head of the household's illness had plagued them for years; no one knew how many tears they had shed in private. Hearing today that there was hope for a cure, how could she not be overjoyed!

"Lanlan, you can't talk nonsense and lie to your aunt." Qiu also came out and questioned her daughter.

"Mother, I'm not making this up. It's what the doctor said," Mo Lan replied to Qiu Shi with utmost seriousness, proving that she wasn't lying.

“I believe Lanlan! Last time she told Mother not to let the master eat eggs. She also gave him millet porridge and lean meat. Now the master doesn’t have as many attacks as before, and he can even come to the yard for a walk when he’s not sick. It’s all thanks to Lanlan.” Liu wiped away her tears and looked at Molan gratefully.

"Auntie, why are you thanking Lanlan? That's Lanlan's uncle. You should cut this root for him later, Lanlan can't cut it." Molan pointed to the dandelion root soaking in the basin at Liu Shi and smiled mischievously.

“Okay, Auntie will cut them later. I’ll go ask your grandma first if we can exchange them for some goose eggs. As for this piece…” Liu wiped away her tears and looked at Qiu.

"Sister-in-law, hurry up and go, I'll take care of this," Qiu urged her.

"Yes. Thank you for your hard work, sister-in-law." Liu replied and walked towards the main house.

"Sigh, I hope it's really hard to cure your uncle's illness this time. Your aunt has suffered so much." Qiu hugged Mo Lan, looking in the direction of the main house, and muttered to herself.

Yes, it will! Mo Lan silently told herself.

A short while later, Liu returned. Although her eyes were red, her face was full of joy, which meant that Wang had agreed to her request.

"Mother agreed, saying that we'll go exchange for goose eggs after everyone has rested for the afternoon. Lanlan, thank you, Auntie." After saying this, Madam Liu hugged Molan tightly, and you could feel how excited she was from the strength of her hug.

"Sister-in-law, why are you being so polite with her? This girl just happened to find out the doctor's prescription." Qiu said politely from the side, but from her smiling face, it was not hard to see that she was still very satisfied at the moment.

After a moment of excitement, Liu and Qiu continued preparing lunch, while Mo Mei and Mo Lan continued washing the dandelions.

"Lan girl." Mo Lan, who was about to turn around, heard a deep voice beside her. The voice made Mo Lan's heart tremble. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and turned around with a smile on her face.

"Grandma, why did you come here?" Mo Lan asked in a clear voice.

Wang did not respond, but carefully examined her granddaughter in front of her, her gaze deep.

Mo Lan felt suffocated by her gaze, and she felt she was about to lose her smile. She wanted to run away; she didn't want to face her grandmother like this, she was afraid!

"Who are you?" Wang asked softly. Her voice was low and hoarse, suggesting that her heart was far from calm.

Upon hearing this, Mo Lan's eyes flashed with shock, and her gaze snapped to Wang Shi's eyes.

"Grandma, what are you saying? I'm Lanlan." Mo Lan was unwilling and dared not admit it. She quickly calmed herself down and dealt with Wang Shi.
