Crossing Over to Yamada Love

Chapter 200 Turning the corner into safety

A look of terror flashed in Mo Lan's eyes. She abruptly closed her eyes, her body trembling slightly.

Everyone saw Mo Lan's fear. Some understood, while others were puzzled.

"Lan'er, what's wrong? Are you cold? Why are you shivering again? If you're cold, Mother will give you another blanket." Qiu didn't know what was wrong with her daughter and thought she was shivering because she was cold.

"Girl, it's alright. Your second grandfather and I killed the person. Don't be afraid, everything is fine now." Mo Quan knew that his granddaughter was thinking about the murder, so he quickly comforted her.

Second Grandfather? That's right, Second Grandfather! I didn't hear his voice just now, is he alright? Although he tricked Grandpa and me into going there, he didn't really mean to harm them. He even helped us, and in the end, he took a knife for me. If it weren't for him, I don't know what would have happened to me. Mo Lan forgot her fear and hurriedly opened her eyes to look for her Second Grandfather.

Second Grandfather lay there motionless. His injuries were the most severe; that knife wound must have been quite deep.

"Save Second Grandfather." Mo Lan said hoarsely, enduring the pain in her throat.

"Girl, don't worry, we won't abandon your second grandfather. We'll save him." Wang Shi couldn't hold back her tears any longer. What kind of fate did her family have? One trouble after another kept piling up. Wouldn't this end in the future?

Mo Lan nodded. She glanced at Xue Lingyun and Xue Lingfeng. Before she fainted, she knew someone was looking for her, and the voice sounded like Xue Lingyun's. Had he saved her? And when did Xue Lingfeng arrive?

She looked at the two of them and saw concern in their eyes, and she saw their affection for her. It wasn't fake. It wasn't something they were pretending to do.

Mo Lan forced a smile at the two of them, wanting to show them she was alright and express her gratitude, but the smile didn't appear on her face because she really couldn't smile.

Xue Lingfeng looked at Mo Lan, who was forcing a smile but couldn't quite manage it, and felt as if his heart had been stabbed. Girl, are you going to break my heart?

Seeing the emotions in his eyes, Mo Lan's eyes welled up with tears. He was heartbroken for her, but she had killed people. Her hands were stained with blood. She was a vicious woman, a heartless one. She had actually killed three people with her own hands; three lives had been lost at her hands. She... she... she couldn't get over this. She truly couldn't forgive herself.

Tears silently streamed down Mo Lan's face as she closed her eyes again. She didn't want to face it; she was so tired, so miserable. She just wanted to rest, to close her eyes and rest, and never wake up again.

Wang waved to the crowd, telling them not to disturb Mo Lan. Now that her granddaughter had woken up, it meant her condition was improving. Once she recovered, whatever happened would eventually pass, so there was no need to dwell on the present.

Another night passed, and in the early morning, Mo Lan opened her eyes. Looking at the people around her, she knew that last night, Madam Wang hadn't had everyone stay up. Apart from the doctor, the Mo family members took turns keeping watch during the first and second halves of the night; people need rest, otherwise they'd collapse from exhaustion.

Mo Lan's condition has improved a lot; her throat isn't as sore as it was yesterday, but she still feels weak, her mind is still aching, and her whole body is very sore.

Second Grandpa hasn't woken up yet. The doctor says it all depends on his luck. They'll see if he can pull through. If he's not strong enough, she's afraid he might never wake up again. They've used all the best medicine on him; she sincerely hopes he'll wake up.

Madam Qiu asked her daughter if she was feeling better and if there was anything she wanted to eat. Mo Lan shook her head. She looked back and saw that Xue Lingfeng and the other person were no longer there. They had gone back last night at Madam Wang's request.

Mo Lan knew her grandmother had asked for this on her behalf; she was well aware of their concern for her, but she didn't want to see them now. She didn't want to face them. Before she lost consciousness, she heard Xue Lingyun calling out to her, so he must have witnessed her killing someone. Mo Lan didn't care what he thought, nor did she have the energy to. As for Xue Lingyun? Mo Lan chose to escape even further, refusing to think about him.

Mrs. Qiu was gently comforting her daughter and talking to her, afraid that her daughter would get bored if she lay there for too long.

"Why can't I take my husband back? What's this in your house? If my husband were gone, would you care? Who would wear mourning clothes for him? Who would break the coffin for him? Who would be a dutiful son or grandson?" Feng's voice came from outside. She was making a scene again so early in the morning. I guess she felt that no one could control her after the Xue family's young master left, so she was acting arrogantly again. Judging from her tone, she wanted to take Mo Jin back.

If Mo Jin were alright, she should have taken him back. However, Mo Jin's current condition is not optimistic. He is only kept alive by ginseng and good medicine. If Feng Shi were to cause him any trouble, he might never wake up again. Therefore, the Mo family's main branch does not allow her to take him away.

"Sister-in-law, you should go back. Brother Jin is unable to move in his current condition, so let him stay here for now. I will keep an eye on things here and let you know if anything happens." Doctor Chen was also annoyed by the argument between the two sides, so he stepped in to persuade Madam Feng. In fact, he also disliked Madam Feng and felt that she did not know what was important, but she was a woman, so he could not say anything too harsh.

“Brother, you don’t know how heartless they are! They won’t let me see my husband. He just lies there on the kang (heated brick bed), without anyone to serve him. I don’t even know if they’ll give him a drop of water! They’re deliberately trying to kill me. They want me to be a widow. Tell me, how am I supposed to live if I’m left alone like this? My son is gone, he’s disappeared without a trace, and now my husband is like this. Isn’t this going to kill me? I really can’t go on living.” Madam Feng stood there crying pitifully.

"Get out! Second Uncle isn't dead yet, there's no need for you to wail. If Second Uncle were dead, I, Mo Changhe, would wear mourning clothes and smash the mourning basin myself. You don't need to interfere. Don't wail in my house anymore, nobody's going to listen to you." Mo Changhe was seething with anger. Feng Shi had come to cry and make a scene again early in the morning, which only made him more annoyed. For a moment, he didn't care whether she was an elder or not and yelled at Feng Shi.

"You. You. You bastard, you turtle bastard, I'm your second aunt. What shit did you eat this morning? Your mouth stinks. If you say another word, may God strike you down with lightning!" Madam Feng, relying on her status as an elder, started cursing.

"What's wrong with Second Aunt? Does Second Aunt have the right to wail here? Does Second Aunt have the right to spew nonsense here? My dad and Lanlan are recovering from their illness. Don't come here to cause trouble. If you bring bad luck to my family, and something happens to Dad and Lanlan, I'll not only kick you out, I'm willing to hit you. Go back now and stop bringing bad luck to my family. If you come back, don't blame me for hitting you with a broom."

Mo Changhe's face was dark. He didn't care about saving face anymore. He felt disgusted just looking at the two women from the second wife's family. He said whatever came to mind, regardless of what others thought. His real concern was making sure his family suffered less. What outsiders thought was none of his business.

Feng was so angry that her nose was crooked, and she kept cursing, but she was no match for Mo Changhe. Mo Changhe pushed her out the door, and she cursed for a long time in the mountains before turning around and leaving.

After Madam Feng was driven away, Mo Lan noticed a tear in the corner of her second grandfather Mo Jin's eye. Did her second grandfather still have feelings?

"Second Grandfather. Second Grandfather," Mo Lan called out twice in a hoarse voice.

"Jin, Jin. Wake up!" Mo Quan called out.

The crowd gathered around, calling out Mo Jin's name incessantly, hoping to wake him. Doctor Chen quickly came over and examined him. Then he let out a long sigh of relief.

"Brother Jin's condition has improved somewhat. He should wake up today. If he does, there's hope for him. His life is saved. Everyone can finally rest easy."

The Mo family was overjoyed by Dr. Chen's words. No matter what, Mo Jin was injured while saving his family, and no one wanted him to die like this.

As dusk approached, Mo Jin indeed woke up, slowly opening his eyes. Everyone watched with delight, but his eyes were glazed over, indicating that he was not fully awake yet.

Mo Jin's eyes slowly regained their light, and his thoughts gradually returned to normal. He saw the people in front of him clearly and froze. He wasn't dead?

His mind was filled with thoughts of what had happened. He had thought he was going to die this time. He deserved to die; he had raised such a disobedient and unfilial son, one who showed no regard for family. He had caused his elder brother to be beaten in his old age, and he didn't even know how his brother was doing. Had he been saved? He had also caused the beautiful Lanlan to be violated. It was all his fault. If it weren't for him, none of this would have happened.

Heaven was right to take him away. He was prepared to meet the King of Hell. But when he opened his eyes, he didn't see the ghost messengers or Yama, but his relatives from the eldest branch of the family. Had he not died after all? What about his eldest brother and Lanlan? Were they alright? And what about his third brother, that rebellious son? How was he?

Mo Jin's eyes darted around. He saw his older brother and Lanlan, both of them smiling at him with concern in their eyes. They were both alright, that was good, that was good. He felt much more at ease.

"Jin'er, you're awake! Thank God, my Jin'er has finally pulled through. I'll kowtow and give thanks tomorrow. Thank God!" An old woman said, holding Mo Jin's hand and crying.

"Sister..." Mo Jin called out with difficulty. He had been so focused on his brother and Lanlan that he hadn't noticed his second sister sitting in front of him.

This person was none other than Chen Mo, Mo Lan's second great-aunt.

Mo Jin was critically injured and on the verge of death. The Mo family was really afraid that he would not wake up, so they sent someone to inform the two old ladies. They were siblings, and the two old ladies had always been concerned about this brother, so they had to let them come and see him.

When the two old ladies arrived and saw Mo Quan and Mo Jin, they were heartbroken. Their two brothers had almost died, all because of that beast Mo Changsheng. How could the Mo family have raised such a monster?
