Rebirth and Rewriting Fate

Chapter 73 Another Shock

Boom! An explosion suddenly came from outside, and another group of people on the roof fell down. The guards inside the house all looked out.

"Master, it's Brother Chiwu! They're here! That's wonderful!" Zhuliu cheered.

Why did they come? Gu Ruoxiao wondered to herself.

"Quickly, let's work together from the inside and outside to take care of those thieves!" Sui Bo shouted hurriedly.

Soon, the situation turned around. Thanks to the support of Chiwu and others, and the large amount of gunpowder they brought, the battle became one-sided, and the secret guards quickly wiped out the people of Dongchi.

"Master, are you alright?" Chiwu and Chengfeng stepped forward and asked.

Gu Ruoxiao looked at the two of them, her brows furrowed. "Why are you here?"

The two dared not reply and lowered their heads.

"If they don't come, we're doomed," Zhu Liu muttered softly behind him.

"Where is she? Is she here too?" Gu Ruoxiao asked.

"It was Miss Yun Chu who sent us. She didn't come; Mo Han is escorting her back to the capital," Chi Wu explained.

Gu Ruoxiao fell silent.

Chiwu and Chengfeng exchanged a glance, then knelt down on one knee. "Your subordinates have disobeyed Your Highness's orders. Please punish us."

Gu Ruoxiao sighed, "Never mind, let's go clean up the scene."

When Yun Chu woke up again, she found herself lying on a slope in the woods. Her head felt like it had been hit, and she was a little dazed. She shook her head, trying to clear her mind. Mo Han was lying next to her, her hand still protecting her head.

Yun Chu hurriedly got up, "Mo Han, Mo Han, wake up." She shook Mo Han.

Mo Han woke up, and Yun Chu helped her up to lean against a tree trunk, only to find that one of her feet was caught in a hunter's trap, and blood was still spreading. She quickly went forward, found a stick, and pried the trap open. Mo Han, panting, said from behind, "Miss, don't worry. I'm alright."

Yun Chu paid no attention; she needed to get rid of the animal trap as soon as possible. Having finally escaped the trap, Yun Chu quickly tore off a piece of her clothing and used it to bandage Mo Han's wound.

Having resolved the matter, she breathed a slight sigh of relief. She turned to look at Mo Han, only to be met with Mo Han suddenly vomiting blood. Yun Chu's eyes widened; she then realized that Mo Han reeked of blood, and even her black clothes were stained with large patches of blood. Yun Chu couldn't help but tremble, the scene from her previous life uncontrollably flashing through her mind. That night, Mo Han, also covered in wounds and blood, rushed into the palace to deliver a message to her, and then she collapsed beside her, dead, covered in blood.

Yun Chu trembled violently, completely disoriented, her eyes unfocused, her heart filled with panic and unease. She desperately wanted to take Mo Han's pulse, but her trembling fingers couldn't find it. She was utterly panicked, repeatedly muttering, "Mo Han, don't die, don't die. It's all my fault, it's all my fault. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't be like this." Tears streamed down her face.

This was the first time Mo Han had seen Yun Chu like this, so she quickly explained, "Miss, I'm fine. I was just hit by a sledgehammer. A lot of the blood on me isn't mine, so don't worry."

But Yun Chu ignored her. She remained trapped in her own world, constantly blaming herself and repeatedly telling Mo Han not to die.

Mo Han straightened up and held Yun Chu's hand. Yun Chu's hand was as cold as if she had just come out of an ice cellar, so she had to raise her voice, "Miss! Miss! Wake up, I'm alright, I won't die."

Yun Chu's gaze began to focus, and she mumbled, "You won't die?"

“Yes, I won’t die,” Mo Han affirmed. “I’ve survived injuries a thousand times worse than this before.” She explained.

"But you're covered in blood, so much blood." Yun Chu's eyes were filled with panic and disbelief.

“Most of the blood on this body isn’t mine, Miss, you have to believe me!” Mo Han gripped Yun Chu’s hand tightly.

"Really?" Yun Chu's eyes gradually cleared, and she slowly emerged from the collapsing world.

Mo Han took Yun Chu's finger and placed it on her pulse. "Feel it," she whispered.

This time, Yun Chu felt it; the pulse under her fingers was beating strongly, Mo Han was still alive.

Seeing that Yun Chu had recovered, Mo Han looked at the sky and said, "Miss, it's getting dark, it's probably going to rain, we should leave here first."

"Okay, okay," Yun Chu replied hastily.

So Yun Chu helped the injured Mo Han out of the woods, and they found a stone cave and hurried inside.

The cave wasn't large, but it was fairly tidy, suggesting that hunters often lived there. A thick layer of straw covered the ground, and there were piles of wood in the corners, with several bowls and utensils placed on a stone platform against the wall.

Yun Chu quickly helped Mo Han sit down against the wall. They had just entered the cave when it started raining heavily outside. The rain caused the temperature inside the cave to drop sharply, and the air was damp. Yun Chu thought she needed to quickly start a fire. She placed some silver coins on the stone platform and piled the wood in the open space in front of the haystack, but now she regretted not having brought a tinderbox; it seemed she would have to start a fire by rubbing sticks together.

"Miss." Mo Han called from behind her, and she quickly turned around. Mo Han handed her a tinderbox. "Great!" Yun Chu smiled.

Soon, the flames leaped up and burned brighter, bringing light and warmth to the cave.

Yun Chu took a bowl, filled it with rainwater, and handed it to Mo Han. "Have some to drink." Then, she sat down next to Mo Han. She checked Mo Han's injuries. The bleeding from her foot had stopped, but her internal injuries were currently incurable. Mo Han was actually very weak, and her face grew increasingly pale.

Yun Chu was annoyed that she had scattered all the medicine powder in her pocket when she fought with the short man today, and now she had no medicine on her. "Mo Han, hang in there a little longer. When it gets light, I will take you to see a doctor."

Mo Han forced a smile. "Miss, don't be afraid, I'm fine. I've been injured much worse before. But I'm still as energetic as ever."

"Stop talking, save your energy," Yun Chu advised.

"Cough, cough, cough." Mo Han coughed violently, and Yun Chu quickly helped her catch her breath. Mo Han leaned against Yun Chu, "Miss, are you very afraid that I will die?"

"Don't talk nonsense," Yun Chu scolded.

"Then please don't send me away, Miss. I just want to stay by your side and protect you," Mo Han said.

"Okay, okay, as long as you're okay, I won't kick you out," Yun Chu said, patting her.

Mo Han smiled slightly.

"Do you want to take a nap? I'll stay with you," Yun Chu said.

Mo Han leaned on Yun Chu's shoulder with her eyes closed. "Miss, when we first met, you said you had a friend who looked just like me, right?"

"What's wrong?"

“Every time you look at me, I feel like you're looking at her through me. What kind of person is she?”

Yun Chu closed her eyes. "Mo Han, let me tell you a story."
