Rebirth and Rewriting Fate

Chapter 66 Exploration

The stone table in Shen Yuezhen's courtyard was covered with breakfast, all kinds of dishes. "Sister Yun Chu, you eat first, then you can look at it. There's no rush," Shen Yuezhen said from the side, while arranging the food.

Yun Chu ate breakfast for a while, and seeing that the people around her were getting impatient, she turned around with amusement and asked, "So, what is it?"

"I see your clothes, and your embroidered handkerchief and purse, they're all embroidered extremely well. Could you teach me?" Shen Yuezhen said, slightly embarrassed, as she handed over a basket of embroidery from behind her. Yun Chu flipped through it; most of them were unfinished, with only one or two that were quite well done.

Yun Chu said shyly, "Actually, I don't know how either. The embroidery on my clothes was done by one of my maids. She's a very good embroiderer."

"Ah, you don't know either!" Shen Yuezhen said dejectedly, turning her eyes expectantly to Mo Han, who was standing to the side. Mo Han felt the gaze directed at her and quickly took a step back.

Yun Chu chuckled and said, "Do you think she spends all day carrying around a sword and doing needlework?"

Shen Yuezhen lowered her eyes, helplessly turning over the embroidery basket, sighing softly.

"Among so many maids in Murong Manor, there must be some with good embroidery skills. Why don't you look for one?" Yun Chu comforted her.

“Chi Lin, she’s a good embroiderer, but unfortunately I’m too clumsy to learn her skills,” Shen Yuezhen sighed.

The embroiderer named Chi Lin stepped forward and said, "It's alright, young mistress, you'll definitely get it with more practice."

"That's right, practice makes perfect. You'll definitely master it if you practice more. Look at your embroidered ducks playing in the water, they're so well done, so lifelike," Yun Chu encouraged.

“Those are mandarin ducks,” Shen Yuezhen retorted, pouting in annoyance.

Yun Chu smiled awkwardly, wondering how to comfort this naive girl.

"I've got it!" As expected, naive people are more likely to be self-satisfied. Shen Yuezhen said, "If you learn with me, we can learn from each other, discuss things together, and make progress together. We'll definitely learn it!"

"Me?" Yun Chu pointed to herself, wondering how she had ended up learning it too.

The person opposite was nodding vigorously.

Well, not wanting to spoil Shen Yue's mood, Yun Chu reluctantly joined in the needlework. She was truly amazed by what she learned; every trade has its own intricacies. Yun Chu sighed in amazement.

Shen Yuezhen, sitting opposite, hesitated for a long time before finally deciding to embroider mandarin ducks and was busy preparing. Yun Chu, on the other hand, thought for a moment and then decided what to embroider. She picked out suitable fabric from her embroidery basket and prepared to start. Since her embroidery skills were poor, she would just embroider something simple as an embellishment.

The morning passed quickly. Around noon, Shen Yuezhen stretched and looked up at Yun Chu. "Sister Yun Chu, is that bamboo you're embroidering?"

“Yes, these two are bamboo, and this one over here is a xiao (a type of vertical bamboo flute),” Yun Chu said, pointing to the embroidery.

"A flute? Young Master Xiao! Is that right? That's so meaningful." Shen Yuezhen said enviously.

“Yours is good too, it has a nice meaning,” Yun Chu said with a smile.

"What's so good about it? I still think it looks like a duck. My embroidery skills are not up to par," Shen Yuezhen said, somewhat dejectedly.

"The important thing is the thought behind it!" Yun Chu patted her on the shoulder.

“Yes!” Shen Yuezhen nodded, her confidence returning. “No matter what I embroider, Yulang will like it!”

"What are you talking about that makes you so happy!" Murong Yu stepped through the door, followed by Gu Ruoxiao.

Upon seeing Murong Yu arrive, Shen Yuezhen hurriedly went to greet him. Murong Yu affectionately patted her head, "I went to Brother Xiao's place to look for you. I heard that you had abducted Madam Xiao, and since it was almost lunchtime, I asked Brother Xiao to come and find you together."

Gu Ruoxiao looked at Yun Chu, and Yun Chu nodded to him.

"What are you doing?" Murong Yu asked.

"It's a secret, don't look." Shen Yuezhen hurriedly covered the embroidery basket.

"Is your finger injured? Let me see." Murong Yu asked worriedly as she took Shen Yuezhen's hand and examined it carefully.

The latter hurriedly said, "It's alright, it's alright, it doesn't hurt." Then, Shen Yuezhen took out a mandarin duck purse from the embroidery basket and handed it over, "I thought that there should be no secrets between husband and wife. I embroidered this mandarin duck, but it's not finished yet, so it's a bit ugly. Don't mind it. I'll put it in the wishing lantern during the Festival of Inviting the Immortals, so remember to take it!"

Murong Yu took the purse and examined it carefully. "I like it no matter how it's embroidered!"

Seeing the two openly showing their affection, Yun Chu couldn't help but smile.

Perhaps it was because Shen Yuezhen looked up at Yun Chu and found that she was unmoved that she decided she had to take matters into her own hands. She walked to Yun Chu's embroidery basket, picked up Yun Chu's embroidery, and before Yun Chu could stop her, it was already handed to Gu Ruoxiao.

"Brother-in-law, this was embroidered for you by Sister Yun Chu."

Gu Ruoxiao took the embroidery, looked at the bamboo leaves and flute on it, and looked up at Yun Chu.

Yun Chu suddenly felt a little embarrassed. Her face turned red instantly, and she quickly snatched the embroidery away, saying, "Don't look at it, it's not finished yet."

"Masters, lunch is ready!" Uncle Hong called out loudly at the courtyard gate, breaking the awkward atmosphere for Yun Chu.

Yun Chu silently credited Hong Bo for his service in her heart.

So that afternoon, the four of them stayed in Murong Yu's courtyard. Shen Yuezhen and Yun Chu were busy with needlework, while Murong Yu and Gu Ruoxiao were playing chess. The sunlight shone on the earth, and the birds sang and the flowers bloomed, creating a harmonious and beautiful scene.

After getting ready for night and changing into his night clothes, Gu Ruoxiao stood in front of Yun Chu and said to her, "You'll sleep in the bed tonight. Mo Han will be guarding outside. Just call out if you need anything."

Yun Chu nodded silently.

After saying that, he got up and went out to join Chiwu and the others.

Night is very close tonight, and even the cicadas seem to have stopped chirping. Yun Chu tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. She would occasionally get up and look towards the door, but it was quiet and still. Time passed by, and she lost track of what time it was.

It was good that there was no movement, she comforted herself. Perhaps it was because it was late and the dew was heavy, but she couldn't stay awake any longer and fell asleep in a daze.

When Yun Chu woke up the next day, she found that Gu Ruoxiao had already changed his clothes and was sitting at the table drinking tea.

"Gu Ruoxiao?" she called out, rubbing her sleepy eyes.

Gu Ruoxiao looked at her, "Awake?"

At this moment, Mo Han's voice came from outside, "Master, Madam Murong just sent someone to say that there are many matters to attend to at the sacrificial ceremony today, so she will not be coming to see Miss. She will come to pick Miss up in the evening."

"Okay," Yun Chu replied hastily, only to realize afterward that the other person didn't seem to be reporting to her, which made her slightly embarrassed.

Yun Chu hurriedly got up to wash and tidy herself up. After sitting down at the table, she picked up the tea that Gu Ruoxiao had poured and drank it, asking, "How was yesterday?"

“Yesterday we entered the back mountain, where the guards were quite heavy, and we discovered that dozens of children were being held inside,” Gu Ruoxiao said solemnly.

"Children? Wang Xiang is truly a beast." Yun Chu cursed angrily. It was easy to imagine who those medicines were meant for. Yun Chu clenched her fists, her eyes filled with rage.
