Rebirth and Rewriting Fate

Chapter 61 A Chance Rescue

Hearing the promise from the person behind her, Yun Chu felt a strange feeling welling up inside her. She licked her dry lips and said, "Go and call Liu Da and the others over. I need to talk to them."

Xu Li nodded and went to call for help.

Soon a large group of people squeezed in.

"Boss, you're looking for us?"

"Boss, what do you want?"

Perhaps because they said there was a chance yesterday, Liu Da and the others were full of confidence and high morale.

“Yes, I have some personal matters to attend to, so I won’t be returning to the capital with you. Xu Li will take you back to the capital to transport the goods to Shili Pu. If you can successfully complete this test, Shili Pu will accept you.” Yun Chu smiled and offered her terms.

"Really? That's great! I guarantee I'll complete the mission!" Liu Da patted his chest and promised.

Everyone made their promises.

"Master, aren't you coming back with us? Are you going sightseeing with your son-in-law?" Liu Qing asked curiously, craning his neck to look through the window. Unfortunately, the curtains were drawn, obscuring the view and only revealing silhouettes. He had heard that someone from the master's family had come, and now that he saw them in the master's room, he couldn't help but gossip a bit.

Upon hearing this, Yun Chu felt embarrassed. Why did the people around her always treat Gu Ruoxiao as her son-in-law?

"You talk too much, have you finished checking the goods?" Xu Li interrupted.

"Yes, yes, we need to get ready quickly, this is our assessment!" Liu Fugui said hurriedly.

So a large group of people left in a flurry to pack up and get ready.

After finishing lunch and seeing Xu Li and the others off, Yun Chu looked at Gu Ruoxiao and asked, "When are we leaving?"

"I'll leave tomorrow." Gu Ruoxiao left these words behind, got up and walked out of the room, leaving Yun Chu looking puzzled.

Chiwu behind stopped and explained in a low voice, "I've been traveling for three days and haven't slept a wink."

Yun Chu nodded. So that's how it is.

That night, Gu Ruoxiao booked a room next to Yun Chu's, and Yun Chu shared a room with Mo Han. Perhaps feeling safer, Yun Chu slept soundly that night.

The next day, after breakfast, Yun Chu and the others set off. Mo Han and Chi Wu drove the carriage, while Cheng Feng rode his horse. Perhaps because Gu Ruoxiao's bodyguards had taken care of some troubles beforehand, the journey was generally smooth.

After passing through the dense forest ahead, it will take another half a day to reach Lingxian Town. It is said that an immortal once lived in this town, hence the town's name. It seems to be a beautiful legend.

When they passed through the dense forest, Chiwule stopped his horse. He and Chengfeng exchanged a glance, and Chengfeng spurred his horse forward.

"What's wrong?" Yun Chu asked, puzzled, as she felt the carriage stop.

"Miss, something seems amiss up ahead. Chengfeng has gone to investigate," Mo Han replied.

Yun Chu lifted the carriage curtain. Not far away, a wrecked carriage lay overturned. The horses had all run away, and the carriage was empty. It seemed to have been robbed.

Not far ahead, Chengfeng dismounted and stood in front of a clump of trees, shouting sternly, "Come out!"

A man and a woman emerged shivering from the bushes. The man protected the woman; both were dressed in tattered clothes, their hair disheveled, and they looked rather disheveled. However, judging from their attire, they should have been from a wealthy family. It was just a mystery where their servants and attendants had gone.

Gu Ruoxiao and Yun Chu got off the carriage to check.

Perhaps seeing a woman, the woman in the bushes hurriedly limped over, her face full of panic and fear, pleading, "Please, madam, save us."

Yun Chu frowned upon hearing this form of address.

The man followed closely behind the woman.

The man quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, this is my wife, she was a bit rude. We went back to our hometown to pay respects to our ancestors, but we unexpectedly encountered bandits. The servants also scattered, and the steward said he would go back to the manor to report, but we have been waiting all day and he still hasn't come."

Gu Ruoxiao sized up the two people in front of her, observing them without saying a word.

Yun Chu looked at the woman's feet and asked, "Are you injured?"

"She twisted her ankle when she fell off the carriage, and it hasn't fully healed yet," the man replied, sounding slightly worried and anxious.

"Sit down first." Yun Chu helped the woman sit down, then squatted down and reached out to grab the woman's muddy feet.

"Dirty." The woman couldn't help but shrink her feet.

"It's alright. I have some medical knowledge. Let me take a look at your ankle injury." Yun Chu explained, touching the woman's foot without any disgust. "It's okay, it's not a big problem. I have some plaster for you to apply, and you should be able to walk normally tomorrow."

"Thank you," the woman said gratefully, her eyes instantly filling with tears.

There is a type of woman who is truly made of water, Yun Chu couldn't help but sigh.

Perhaps feeling he had met kind people, the man asked, "Would you please give us a ride? My home is in Murong Manor in Lingxian Town, about half a day's journey from here. If you are so kind as to help us, we will certainly repay you handsomely." The man promised.

"Murong Manor?" Yun Chu repeated involuntarily, a sudden flash of inspiration striking her mind, as if she vaguely remembered something.

“Yes, Madam. My name is Murong Yu, and this is my newlywed wife, Shen Yuezhen. We are on our way back to our hometown to pay respects to our ancestors after our wedding, but we have unexpectedly encountered bandits. We beg your help.” Murong Yu said respectfully, clasping his hands in a fist salute.

They were Murong Yu and Shen Yuezhen. Yun Chu's heart pounded, and her eyes widened in disbelief at the coincidence.

"Could you two please help?" Murong Yu asked anxiously when no one answered.

Seeing Yun Chu in a daze, Gu Ruoxiao was about to speak when Yun Chu spoke first, "Okay." Yun Chu nodded.

"That's wonderful," Murong Yu said gratefully as she helped Shen Yue up.

Gu Ruoxiao looked at Yun Chu, puzzled but did not speak.

So the carriages carrying everyone then headed towards Murong Manor.

In the car, Yun Chu changed Shen Yuezhen's medicine. Shen Yuezhen was as innocent and carefree as a little white rabbit, and she snuggled up to Yun Chu.

Murong Yu quickly apologized, "My wife was abrupt; she may have been frightened. I'm so sorry."

Yun Chu shook her head. "It's alright."

"What is your honorable surname, young master? We will certainly remember your help today," Murong Yu asked.

"My surname is Xiao," Gu Ruoxiao said.

"So it's Brother Xiao, it's a pleasure to meet you," the two said politely.

"How should I address you, Madam?" Upon hearing that her husband had asked for the other party's name, Shen Yuezhen hurriedly asked Yun Chu.

"Don't call me Madam anymore, just call me Yun Chu." Yun Chu quickly clarified her previous form of address.

"Okay, Sister Yun Chu. I feel that Sister Yun Chu and I get along very well!" Shen Yue said happily.

"Judging from your accents, are you two from the capital?" Murong Yu asked.

“That’s right, we’re just returning to the capital after a trip,” Gu Ruoxiao replied.

"So what do you do in the capital? Are you also holding official positions?" Shen Yuezhen asked curiously.

Upon hearing the word "also," Gu Ruoxiao frowned slightly.
