Rebirth and Rewriting Fate

Chapter 60 I gave her a ride

"Mo Han..." Yun Chu said worriedly.

"It's alright, Chiwu and the others are outside," Gu Ruoxiao said, pouring herself another cup of tea.

"Oh no, Xu Li and the others..." Yun Chu jumped up.

"They're fine, they just took too much sleeping pills, they'll probably sleep until tomorrow morning," Chengfeng said as he stepped into the room.

Suddenly, Yun Chu sat down again.

"Master, everything is arranged," Chengfeng reported.

"Ah."

Chengfeng turned around and went outside to stand guard.

"Coming for me?" Yun Chu quickly realized what was going on and asked Gu Ruoxiao.

Gu Ruoxiao glanced at Yun Chu and tacitly agreed.

But why? Yun Chu lowered her head and pondered, wondering if she had overlooked something along the way.

She's a merchant; was someone eyeing her business? Did she flaunt her wealth along the way?

The fighting outside is not over yet. Those who have been entangled with Mo Han for so long must be martial arts practitioners.

Could it be because of the Ye family? But she's no longer a member of the Ye family, so logically she shouldn't be a problem for the First Madam and Ye Ruohuan.

That leaves only one reason: a treasure map. But not many people know about the treasure map. Besides Gu Chengjie, could it be Xi Yue? Thinking of Xi Yue, the number one expert in the Northern Region, Yun Chu couldn't help but tremble. She didn't want to die now.

She turned to Gu Ruoxiao and asked, "Is it because of the treasure map?"

Before Gu Ruoxiao could answer, Mo Han rushed in, asking anxiously, "Miss, are you alright?"

Then she saw her original master sitting behind the table, and Mo Han awkwardly called out, "Master."

"Are you alright?" Yun Chu asked hurriedly.

Mo Han shook her head.

"I'll stay here tonight, you can go and rest," Gu Ruoxiao said.

Yun Chu stared wide-eyed at Gu Ruoxiao in confusion, while Mo Han stood silently without saying a word.

“She’s injured,” Gu Ruoxiao explained.

Upon hearing this, Yun Chu stood up abruptly and pulled Mo Han around to look her over, asking, "Where are you hurt? Let me see."

"Mo Han has taken a blow." Chi Wu stepped in. "Master, the assassin has been caught."

Gu Ruoxiao nodded.

"Go and rest now. You need to take good care of your internal injuries. You should be fine tonight," Yun Chu said with concern.

Mo Han glanced at Yun Chu, then at Gu Ruoxiao, nodded, and went out the door. Everyone else followed suit, and Cheng Feng even closed the door behind them. In an instant, only the two of them remained in the room.

"So the assassin wants to kill me?" Yun Chu concluded.

"According to intelligence, someone in the martial arts world has issued a bounty for your capture," Gu Ruoxiao explained.

"Who is it, Xi Yue?"

"I don't know, we're still investigating."

"So I'm in danger right now?"

Gu Ruoxiao looked up at Yun Chu.

"Then Xu Li and the others can't come with me anymore." Yun Chu made up her mind. She had to find a way to separate from them and couldn't be a burden to them.

“It’s very late, you should go to sleep. I’ll stay here tonight,” Gu Ruoxiao said.

Yun Chu glanced at Gu Ruoxiao without speaking. There was no point in being coy now. She went back to bed, but she couldn't fall asleep. She turned to look at Gu Ruoxiao. Gu Ruoxiao had his back to the bed, his figure hidden in the dim light, appearing hazy and mysterious. His shoulders were broad, his back must be very stable; wouldn't it be reassuring to lean against him? Yun Chu patted herself, thinking, "What am I thinking! I really shouldn't have met him. Meeting him makes it easy to overthink, and that's no good."

Yun Chu tossed and turned in bed. After thinking for a moment, she got up, opened her bundle, and took out a hidden dart. She had always carried this dart with her but had never used it. Firstly, she didn't know how to use it; secondly, she was too embarrassed to ask Mo Han and Xu Li for help, since they both knew who it belonged to. Well, to save her life, she'd better ask the person involved directly.

Yun Chu walked to the table and placed the hidden dart in front of Gu Ruoxiao. "Since there is danger, I have to learn to protect myself. Tell me how to use this hidden dart?" Yun Chu had rehearsed these words several times in her mind. She wanted her voice to sound calm, composed, and unperturbed.

When Gu Ruoxiao first saw the hidden arrow, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, but it quickly disappeared. Hearing Yun Chu's words, he replied, "Okay."

He picked up the hidden arrow and earnestly explained to Yun Chu how to use it.

He grabbed Yun Chu's arm and strapped the hidden arrow device to the inside of her forearm. Then, standing behind Yun Chu, he lifted her arm, aimed his middle and index fingers at the window frame in front of her, flicked the butterfly flap, triggered the mechanism, the spring sprang up, and the arrow in the tube was launched.

At this moment, Yun Chu was held tightly in Gu Ruoxiao's arms, and Gu Ruoxiao's magnetic voice reached her ears as he earnestly explained something. Yun Chu's ears turned slightly red, and her thoughts were somewhat chaotic. She forced herself to calm down; she was there to learn, and she needed to clear her mind of distractions.

Whoosh! An arrow flew out and embedded itself in the window frame.

Yun Chu stepped forward and broke free from Gu Ruoxiao's embrace. She pulled out the arrow. "So that's how it works. It's quite simple," she thought.

The arrow gleamed under the oil lamp, and Yun Chu instinctively reached out to touch it with her finger.

"Don't touch it." Gu Ruoxiao nervously grabbed Yun Chu's hand. "To ensure a perfect hit, I poisoned it." He explained.

Yun Chu looked up at Gu Ruoxiao, her hand now clasped in his. In the dim, flickering light of the oil lamp, the entire room was shrouded in a thin, ambiguous mist, as if even the air itself was tinged with a hint of romance. The lamplight flowed slowly between them, illuminating their faces. Their eyes met, and their shadows cast long, intertwined shadows on the wall, creating an atmosphere that was both ambiguous and hazy.

Yun Chu quickly looked away and withdrew her hand. "It's too late. I'll try practicing tomorrow." With that, she hurriedly tidied up, climbed into bed, and lay down with her back to Gu Ruoxiao.

Gu Ruoxiao glanced at Yun Chu's back and returned to the table.

Everything around them became unusually quiet, with only the occasional crackling of the oil lamp. Watching Gu Ruoxiao's retreating figure, Yun Chu quickly fell asleep.

The next morning, when Xu Li came to deliver breakfast, he asked with concern, "I heard what Chengfeng said when I woke up this morning, it scared me to death. Miss, are you alright last night?"

"It's alright, don't worry," Yun Chu reassured her.

While eating breakfast, Yun Chu instructed, "Xu Li, later you take Liu Da and the others to escort the goods back to Beijing first. We'll split up and go in two groups."

Xu Li thought for a moment and asked, "Is Miss afraid of danger?"

Yun Chu nodded.

"Then I'll let Liu Da and the others go first, and I'll stay here to protect Miss," Xu Li quickly said.

“You have to take them back to the capital. Our own people aren’t here, and they’ll panic without someone to lead them,” Yun Chu explained.

"But..." Xu Li said, still worried.

"Don't worry, with Mo Han here."

Xu Li stood silently, secretly glancing at Gu Ruoxiao sitting by the window. He wondered to himself, "I heard last night that the Prince saved Miss, but the Prince and Miss had broken up before. Did the Prince just happen to encounter her and save her, or will he escort her back to the capital?" He was truly worried if it was just Mo Han.

Perhaps noticing Xu Li's gaze, Gu Ruoxiao spoke up, "I'll take her back to the capital."
