Legendary Person: I brought my skills back to reality!

Chapter 75 Chaos Across the Land (Part 2)

As the video nears its end, the final shot focuses on the battlefield in Qingshan Village.

Xu Hao moved with incredible agility, weaving nimbly through the dense horde of zombies. He would disappear from sight one moment and reappear the next, as if the video were stuck in a frame.

Teasing the Zombie King like this, he led the entire horde of zombies to the designated ambush point—the valley outside the village.

Finally, Xu Hao was discovered by the Corpse King, his ankle was pierced by iron chains, and he barely managed to escape, only to be bombarded by firepower.

The video ended, and the conference room fell silent. The attendees stared at Xu Hao in disbelief, their eyes filled with astonishment and admiration. Several young girls in the meeting had tears in their eyes; if they weren't sitting there alive and knew Xu Hao was safe and sound, they probably would have burst into tears.

The group exchanged incredulous glances, as if asking: When did the ZZ branch produce such a hero? We've never heard of such a person before.

Zheng Jinqiang stood up and slowly walked to the projection screen. He looked around and saw that everyone's face was filled with shock and solemnity. He took a deep breath and began to report the latest situation:

"Comrades, the situation is extremely serious. In the past 24 hours alone, we have detected 127 large-scale bizarre events worldwide. From New York to Tokyo, from Moscow to Sydney, no continent has been spared."

He clicked on the remote control, and a world map appeared on the screen, densely marked with red dots.

"These red dots indicate the locations of the incidents. The largest of these occurred in Mumbai, India,"

Zheng Jinqiang pointed out these hotspots one by one, his tone becoming increasingly somber: "Preliminary statistics show that these incidents have caused 103,752 casualties, including 27,891 deaths, 52,463 missing persons, and 23,398 seriously injured. The property losses are conservatively estimated to exceed US$3500 billion, not including the subsequent impacts."

He paused, letting these alarming figures settle in everyone's minds: "Ladies and gentlemen, we are facing an unprecedented global crisis..."

He paused, looked around, and continued, "However, our country can be said to be relatively lucky in this disaster."

First, the strange entities that have descended upon our country are not particularly powerful compared to those in other countries. Intelligence indicates that the boar-like monsters appearing in New York City and the towering fire-breathing monsters appearing in Tokyo, Japan, are comparable. In comparison, while the zombie hordes we face are troublesome, they are far less powerful.

Xu Hao thought to himself: That's right, how can zombies compare to the Stone Tomb and the Woma? The Zombie King isn't even worthy of carrying the shoes of the White Pig and the Woma Guards!

"Secondly, the location of the strange appearance is not a densely populated area. Qingshan Village is located in a remote mountainous area with a sparse population. If a zombie horde of similar size appeared in the city center of a metropolis, the consequences would be unimaginable. Evacuating people alone would cause huge chaos, not to mention controlling public opinion afterwards."

Third, and most importantly—" Zheng Jinqiang turned to Xu Hao, "we have Comrade Xu Hao. His heroic actions and extraordinary abilities bought us valuable time and a strategic advantage. Without Comrade Xu Hao, even in a remote mountain village, it would have been difficult for us to control the situation in a short time."

At this point, Zheng Jinqiang turned to Xu Hao, his tone becoming even more serious: "Comrade Xu Hao, according to custom, we should hold a commendation meeting for you at this time, so you can wear a big red flower and say a few words to your comrades. But as you can see, the situation is quite critical and complicated right now. We'll record this commendation meeting for now, but we will never forget your contributions!"

Upon hearing Zheng Jinqiang's words, Xu Hao immediately stood up from his seat. He bowed slightly, a humble smile on his face.

"Director Zheng, you flatter me," Xu Hao said calmly. "This is what I should do. In such a critical moment, as a member of the bureau, I should do my part. I believe that every comrade here would make the same choice if they were in the same situation."

After speaking, Xu Hao bowed slightly and then slowly sat back down. His expression and posture were just right, neither appearing overly humble nor giving the impression of arrogance.

The transformation from a hero to a seasoned office worker is so smooth.

Zheng Jinqiang saw that Xu Hao was not only highly capable, but also remarkably humble and worldly-wise. A hint of approval flashed in his eyes, and a satisfied smile appeared on his lips. He nodded slightly, raising his right hand, ready to signal the continuation of the meeting.

Just then, the large screen at the back of the conference room suddenly started flashing. A piercing alarm shattered the silence of the conference room, like a sharp knife stabbing into everyone's eardrums. A bright red "Emergency" sign appeared on the screen, flashing incessantly, as if foreshadowing something ominous.

Zheng Jinqiang's smile froze instantly, his brows furrowed, and his expression changed from relaxed to serious. He strode to the control panel, his fingers flying across the keyboard as he expertly typed in a complex password. Then, he pressed a few function keys to bring up the communication interface.

As Zheng Jinqiang operated the system, the image on the large screen rapidly changed. First, a patch of static appeared, then gradually became clear. A dignified middle-aged man appeared on the screen, wearing a dark blue uniform, with a badge on his shoulder gleaming with metallic luster.

Zheng Jinqiang immediately recognized the man and straightened his back. He subconsciously adjusted his tie and then strode to the screen.

"Old Zheng, this is Old Li," the person in the video said, his voice deep and powerful.

Zheng Jinqiang raised an eyebrow slightly, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. This Old Li was a section chief at headquarters and also his old comrade-in-arms of many years. At headquarters, Old Li held a high position and wielded great power, rarely handling affairs personally. This sudden communication made Zheng Jinqiang's heart sink, sensing that something big might be about to happen.

"Director Li," Zheng Jinqiang nodded slightly in greeting, "Is there any emergency?"

Old Li's expression was serious, with a hint of anxiety in his eyes. He took a deep breath, seemingly organizing his thoughts.

Director Li's gaze swept over everyone in the conference room, then he said to Zheng Jinqiang, "Old Zheng, I need you to clear the room immediately. Leave the few people you think are most important, and the rest of you can go out and wait for further instructions."

Zheng Jinqiang nodded slightly and turned to face everyone in the conference room. His gaze lingered on each person's face for a moment, quickly weighing his options. Finally, he pointed to Xu Hao and the other two senior officials.

"Shao Wei, Miao Miao, and Xu Hao, the three of you stay here. The rest of you, please go to the conference room next door and wait for further instructions."

The sound of chairs being moved filled the meeting room. Most of the attendees, with expressions of doubt and worry, quickly and orderly left the room.

After everyone had evacuated, Zheng Jinqiang closed the conference room door to ensure soundproofing. He returned to the screen and nodded to Lao Li, "Director Li, the evacuation is complete."
